Death Stranding 2 has crossed 2 million sales globally after its Steam port shipped almost half a million copies in a week.
The title has generated $150 million in revenue already and has become a hit among Chinese players on Steam.
The action-adventure game’s launch on PC also boosted its sales on PS5 by more than 2x.
Now, sales estimates suggest that the Death Stranding 2 port was so successful that it even caused a boost in sales for the PS5 edition of the game.
Why it matters: Death Stranding 2’s impressive sales performance gives Sony a lot to think about, as there is a decent audience for its games on Steam.
As reported by Alinea Analytics, Death Stranding 2 has crossed 2 million sales globally, thanks to its triumphant PC port. The action-adventure title has already shipped 425k copies on Steam, accounting for 21% of the game’s overall sales and helping it cross the $150 million mark in gross revenue generated.
In addition, the release of Death Stranding 2 on PC also boosted its performance on the PS5. Sony discounted the title to coincide with its launch on Steam, and that resulted in the game’s PS5 sales more than doubling to an average of 12.5k copies sold daily after March 19, reaching a peak of 12.8k unit sales.
Before Death Stranding 2 launched on Steam, daily shipments on PS5 peaked at around 5k copies sold during the last holiday season when the game had a discount. Hence, the PC port acted as a re-marketing tool for the Kojima Productions title.
PS5 sales of the game saw a 2x boost due to the PC launch.
Alinea analytics also revealed that Death Stranding 2 has been a massive hit among Chinese players on Steam, as they account for 50% of the game’s audience. Hence, Sony definitely has a sizeable audience on the platform that would be left behind if reports regarding its new PC port strategy are correct.
Do you think Death Stranding 2 is proof that Sony should not stop releasing its games on PC, or is the company correct to keep titles exclusive to the PS5? Tell us in the comments below or head to the Tech4Gamers forum for discussion.

In Marathon’s PC performance guide, Bungie revealed that it plans to keep updating the game for many years to come.
The developer assured fans that it is sticking with the extraction shooter for the long haul.
Long-term patches and immediate updates are already in the pipeline to address players’ concerns regarding the game.
Unlike many predicted, Marathon hasn’t crashed at launch like Concord and has instead managed to amass a respectable player base on Steam. However, the Bungie title has still underwhelmed Sony, only selling 1.2 million copies, with just 19% of these sales being on the PS5.
Marathon has also been slammed by playersfor its difficult gameplay loop, even though critics have loved this aspect of the extraction shooter. Regardless of the launch performance and critical response, however, Bungie has announced plans to keep the game going for many years.
Why it matters: Marathon failed to reach the heights of Arc Raiders, but it has still managed to gain a core player base, which can grow further if Bungie keeps making good changes.
In the Marathon PC performance guide, Bungie has stated that it is “in it for the long haul” with the extraction shooter. The developer assured fans that it will be updating the game for many years to come, and that every aspect of the title will improve further based on player feedback.
We are in it for the long haul with Marathon. We look forward to many years of steady improvements to every aspect of the game.”
The developer didn’t go into specifics on how the extraction shooter will be updated, but confirmed that it has long-term changes planned in addition to immediate updates that will improve CPU performance and other features.
70% of Marathon’s player base is on PC.
Despite opening to an underwhelming Steam concurrent player count, Marathon has been averaging a respectable 380k Daily Active Users on the platform. Hence, it’s good to know that Bungie will improve the game for the thousands of players who have stuck around.
Do you think Marathon could grow to be as big as Rainbow Six Siege with continued support? Tell us in the comments below or head to the Tech4Gamers forum for discussion.

Xbox is allegedly working on a new Game Pass tier codenamed ‘TRITON’ that only features first-party games.
This tidbit was found by a reputed dataminer on Microsoft’s backend, suggesting the tier is currently in the works.
The new program only seems to include games from Xbox Game Studios at the moment.
Xbox’s gaming subscription has remained a huge focus for Microsoft over the years, with millions of users joining its various tiers for its versatile gaming offerings at a low price. The Ultimate program alone added nearly 300 games last year, with over $8000 in retail value.
New datamining now shows that Xbox is now working on a new tier codenamed ‘TRITON,’ which is only expected to feature first-party games from Xbox Game Studios.
Why it matters: Fans have been asking for a first-party tier of Xbox Game Pass for a long time. As long as it’s priced right, the new addition could serve as a hearty choice for gamers who don’t care much about the third-party roster.
Xbox is allegedly working on a first-party only Game Pass tier, datamine reveals.
Twitter user ‘@redphx‘ found this tidbit on Microsoft’s backend. They are known for sharing new additions found in every Game Pass update, and the latest info only seems to feature a list of games by Xbox Game Studios, including DOOM Eternal, State of Decay 2, and more.
The new tier is likely targeting Xbox gamers who are only interested in its first-party titles, since many have been asking for such a program for a long time. However, the program’s popularity will highly depend on how Microsoft prices the tier.
On a side note, the recent price hikes on the existing Game Pass tiers have already been turning many users away.
The new exclusivity tier could make Xbox Game Pass even more popular.
Many other rumors also suggest that Xbox is aiming to expand Game Pass in multiple new directions under the new leadership. So a new program also seems like a huge yet grounded possibility.
However, it is best to take the evidence with a pinch of salt until we see official confirmation, which is expected for the coming months.
Do you think the new Xbox Game Pass tier will prove to be a popular option for gamers, or will only a few buy into the first-party games subscription? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below, or join the discussion on the Tech4Gamers forum.

GPU performance gains between generations are no longer as big as they used to be.
Older GPUs can stay relevant for much longer thanks to better optimisation.
The marketing hype for new GPUs often exaggerates real-world performance differences.
Only when jumping through multiple GPU generations can a big upgrade be seen.
For years, upgrading my GPU felt like a ritual, and every new release promised smoother gameplay, massive performance gains, and a next-generation experience that sounded too good to miss.
But three years ago, I made up my mind to stop chasing launches, no more comparing benchmarks the day they dropped. What I learned from that decision completely changed how I think about upgrades.
Hardware Improvements Have Slowed Down
In the past, skipping one generation meant falling far behind. I used to think the same way. But over the last few years, many people have noticed that improvements between releases are often modest, especially in real-world gaming.
Newer GPUs are faster, but not always in a way that dramatically changes your experience unless you are jumping multiple tiers or several generations at once. The market often highlights percentage gains, but those numbers come from specific scenarios, such as game resolutions or features like DLSS and ray tracing being turned on.
In everyday use, most users find that the difference feels much smaller than expected. This makes you realise that skipping one or even two generational upgrades does not make your system obsolete.
RTX 3060 Can Still Hold Its Own – Image Credits (Pinterest)
You can comfortably play games on your old GPU if it is a model from one or two generations ago. The real issue arises when your GPU is too old to run modern games.
Technologies like rendering at a lower resolution and scaling it up using DLSS and smarter game engines have helped newer titles run surprisingly well on older GPUs.
Even in demanding modern games, you will often find flexible graphics settings that let you balance visuals and performance. Dropping from ultra to high settings usually has very little visual impact, but it can significantly improve performance.
Because of that, my old GPU never really felt dead or outdated. I could still play new titles smoothly with just a few small compromises, and the same applies to many users today.
Real Performance Vs Marketing Hype
One thing I have learned is that marketing does not always reflect real-world experience. For example, GPU advertisements often focus on 4k ultra settings, AI-based features, and ray tracing performance.
Yes, these are impressive, but they do not always match how most people use their systems. Many gamers still play at 1080p or 1440p, and older GPUs often handle these resolutions very well.
From my experience,e some of these advanced features often come with tradeoffs. Enabling these features can sometimes reduce performance. Many gamers make mistakes when purchasing new GPUs; the difference between my GPU and newer ones was simply slightly better visuals and higher frame rates that most gamers don’t even notice.
Thus, upgrading a generation doesn’t mean an entirely different gaming experience, as in most cases, the improvement is minuscule.
The Psychology Behind Upgrading
Another interesting reason for realisation is that much of the upgrading is driven by the fear of missing out rather than actual need. Seeing benchmarks and new releases can make users feel like current hardware is not good enough, even if it performs perfectly fine.
Stepping away from this upgrade cycle allows users to focus more on the actual experience rather than just numbers on a chart. This mindset helps reduce unnecessary spending. If a device works perfectly fine, there is no need to replace it.
When Upgrading Actually Makes Sense
After years of observing, it became clear to me that upgrading should be based on necessity. A GPU upgrade only makes sense when the current hardware cannot maintain playable performance at higher resolutions above 1080p or when it no longer supports certain features. When players jump multiple generations, they feel a significant change in performance; however, moving up a single generation has little to no impact.
For many players, their old GPU, such as my Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060, works perfectly fine and can easily run games at 1080p with raytracing and DLSS enabled. When moving to 4k resolution, older GPUs may struggle a bit; however, newer models such as the RTX 50 series can easily hold their own.
While many new GPU models may promise cutting-edge performance, the actual performance upgrade from slightly older models isn’t that significant. In the end, I’ll say that if you have an old GPU, keep using it and wait for the moment when an upgrade actually makes sense and will make a difference.

Pearl Abyss CEO admits that Crimson Desert does suffer from a weak story.
He says that the attention was diverted to gameplay, but that didn’t turn out great either.
Initially, the game started out as an MMORPG, which disrupted the direction.
While the public perception of Crimson Desert took a bit while to change until gamers actually found out what the RPG had to offer, the opinion that the game’s story stayed the same, as it is the most underwhelming part of it.
Even the game’s publisher thinks so, as Pearl Abyss’ boss just came out clean, admitting that Crimson Desert indeed suffers from a weak story.
Why it matters: Usually, gamers prefer a strong narrative over other elements, as the world feels mundane without it. Had it been for a good story, Crimson Desert would have become one of the best RPGs, or had the potential for it.
People Still Seem To Love The Game Despite The Flaws
In the shareholder Q&A session for Pearl Abyss (via Yonhap News Agency), CEO Jin Young apologized for the game’s weak narrative, stating:
I sympathize to some extent with the disappointment users feel regarding the story.
Young said that they could have done a better job with the story. Further explaining why they fell short in this department, he said that they prioritized gameplay in what time they had left.
The production team tried to make up for the shortcomings in the remaining time, but ultimately, we focused on strengthening the gameplay, which is what we do best
Still, the gameplay wasn’t perfect either. Crimson Desert was plagued with issues at launch, and the control section for the game was pretty complicated. Recent patches have made the game better, but it’s still not there.
The RPG Offers Hundreds Of Hours Of Gameplay
Also, it is notable to mention that Crimson Desert initially started out as an MMORPG before being made into a single-player game. Now, the same multiplayer mode alongside DLC expansions has been teased for the game as part of the post-launch support.

Reliable insider claims a new Star Fox and The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake are dropping this year.
The new Star Fox game will be released in the summer, while the Zelda remake is planned for the latter half of 2026.
A Nintendo Direct will take place in June.
2026 could be humongous for Nintendo as the gaming giant is planning 2 massive surprises for fans. First, a new Star Fox game is under development, with the series returning after a nearly decade-long hiatus.
Secondly, 1998’s The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time is getting remade for Switch 2, currently aiming for a release date for the second half of 2026.
Why it matters: Fans had been complaining about the lack of first-party Nintendo games for the Switch 2 handheld, unaware they had these surprises in store.
In his latest video, leaker Natethehate discussed everything coming to Switch 2 this year. He confirmed a new Star Fox game for this year, which will take the series back to its roots.
Star Fox is coming back in summer 2026. We’re getting a new Star Fox game in the very near future.
This new Star Fox game is described as quite similar to the older entries, and the visuals are “supposed to be good,” featuring a multiplayer mode. The next Nintendo Direct is expected in June, so the game could very well be shadow-dropped, but it’s only speculation right now.
As for the Zelda Ocarina of Time remake, the game is being released to celebrate the IP’s 40th anniversary, with a release planned for later this year.
What I can share with you today is that in the second half of 2026, approaching the holidays, we are going to receive an Ocarina of Time remake for Switch 2.
As for other predictions, he had unfortunate news for Mario fans, stating that the new Mario 3D game won’t be released this year, and that does make sense since it would mean too many first-party releases all at once.
Other than that, expect multiple third-party AAA games releasing on the Switch 2 this year, finally addressing the previous concern about a lack of support when the handheld first launched.

Reliable leaker claims that PS5 consoles are getting a price hike in Europe.
This would make the PS5 Pro cost $899, and the PS5 costs for $649.
A price hike would largely impact GTA 6’s sales when it comes out later this year.
Update:
Sony has officially confirmed new pricing for the PS5 in both the UK and the US. This marks the second major price hike for the hardware after the MSRP initially saw a significant jump in August 2025.
The new prices come into effect on April 2, and following this update, the PS5 will start at $599.99 for the Digital Edition. New pricing for the other editions in the US is as follows:
PS5 Disc Edition $649.99
PS5 Digital Edition $599.99
PS5 Pro $899.99
Similarly, the new UK pricing is mentioned below:
PS5 Disc Edition €569.99
PS5 Digital Edition €519.99
PS5 Pro €789.99
Prices have also gone up in Japan, and the PS Portal has seen a price hike alongside the console. The portable streaming hardware now starts at $249.99 in the US. For the full list of the new prices and other updates, find all the details on the official PlayStation Blog.
Original Story:
Things may be about to get a whole lot worse for gamers as Sony is reportedly preparing for a massive PS5 price hike across Europe. This will affect all the consoles in the current lineup, including the PS5 slim, PS5 Pro, and the PlayStation Portal.
For the price increase, the report expects a €100 increase for both the PS5 Slim and the PS5 Pro, while a minor €30 increase for the PlayStation Portal.
Why it matters: This deep into a console’s generation, prices are expected to drop and not increase. The current volatility in the memory industry is really taking a toll on the gaming market.
A Major Price Hike Is Coming For The PS5 Consoles || X
This information comes from French leaker Gyo, who claimed the price increase announcement will take place soon. This would mean the PS5 Slim would now cost €650 instead of €550, and the PS5 Pro would cost €800 instead of €700. As for the PlayStation Portal, the streaming device will be priced at €250, down from €230.
As for the leaker’s credibility, Gyo has made accurate reports in the past, including the Xbox Series X|S price increase, and he also operates a video game store in France, further making his statement more believable.
The worst part is that PS5 consoles would be retailed at a higher price than Xbox Series X|S. On the other hand, the Nintendo Switch 2 price will also be raised soon, due to the same rising memory costs.
Console sales were expected to boom this year, largely driven by GTA 6’s launch later this year, which comes as a console exclusive. As such, this price increase will surely affect the previous sale expectations.
As for the next-generation plans, reports currently suggest that Sony and Microsoft are on track for the previously announced release, which is scheduled for the holidays of 2027. However, if the situation were to get worse beyond this point, do expect PS6 and Xbox ‘Project Helix’ to get delayed.

PC gaming is all about using the tools at hand for maximum efficiency.
A tool like UDFI AI can come in handy when sorting through big data and numbers.
Features like cross-platform support and AI-based summaries make the tool incredibly versatile.
The gaming medium is full of options and customization. Whether it be a minimal experience with a few screenshots or an all-out experience that supports the latest technology like DLSS 5, there’s no shortage of options when it comes to gaming.
This is also why many prefer to use software to fill the gap and better their end-user experience. For instance, a software like OBS allows for screen-recording, while complementary hardware accessories like better headphones provide more immersive audio.
Similarly, a tool like UPDF positions itself as being incredibly important to gamers all around the globe today, particularly those who deal with large numbers and data.
Why it matters: PDFs are among the most commonly used files in today’s world, extending to both gamers and non-gamers.
Cross-Platform Support
UPDF AI Editor Covers All The Basics
In essence, UPDF handles all the basic tasks that any PDF editor would. It can be found on platforms like Windows, macOS, iOS, and Android, making it incredibly useful for people across all platforms.
The big differentiator is the fact that UPDF is designed with AI at the center of the experience. Where a traditional PDF editor requires exact keywords and search phrases, UPDF understands context and questions thanks to its AI integration.
In particular, UPDF AI can be extremely useful when dealing with a lot of data. For instance, any PC gamer would tell you that performance benchmarks are important, but scanning through large files can be a chore.
With UPDF, the AI can simply be asked to specify performance targets or GPU results without any hassle. Similarly, it can find specific information in a gaming guide and curate suggestions based on that information.
As an example, UPDF AI can come up with an exact build based on a search, effectively turning documents into searchable databases.
More Dynamic Use
A tool like UDPF AI can perfectly enhance existing workflows and streamline the process of going through data.
Take, for example, the ability to generate a summary based on a document containing detailed benchmarks of a recently-released title, such as the ones seen in Hardware Unboxed’s Crimson Desert video.
Similarly, such tools can be used to come up with infographics and presentation-style highlights to make data easier to work with. This type of AI implementation also makes the software capable of easily handling technical PDFs with minimal hiccups. Slowdowns are basically non-existent, and it’s also possible to switch between annotation and AI models instantly.
Something For Everyone
UPDF AI Editor Is Suited To Almost All users
Ultimately, a PDF editor is something practically everyone uses, so a tool like UPDF is not limited to a small segment of gamers.
Competitive gamers can rely on it to review patch notes and work with strategy guides. It’s also a good idea to keep notes of specific match-ups in a genre like fighting games, where knowledge plays a huge role in the outcome.
Similarly, PC builders also have much to gain. Comparing power supply specifications or compatibility info can sometimes be daunting, but streamlined search and data fetching make this process incredibly easy.
Tech reviewers and analysts are also likely to benefit from the AI-powered capabilities, largely due to the appeal of going through large benchmark charts and data sets.
Perhaps the best part is that, unlike a lot of other software, a tool such as UPDF does not force subscriptions. A one-time license option exists, which can also be extended to multi-device access.

Oasis Management has now acquired around 11.85% stake in Kadokawa Corporation.
It has overtaken Sony as the company’s biggest shareholder, which it became in 2024.
It’ll be interesting to see if this causes any creative or management changes.
Kadokawa Corporation is one of the biggest entertainment companies in the industry and owns huge gaming names like FromSoftware. Almost 10% of its shares were owned by Sony; however, another company has now overtaken it.
A new report reveals that Oasis Management Company has increased its stake in Kadokawa and now owns 11.85% shares of the company. Sony has now slipped behind with its 10.09% stake in the entertainment giants.
Why it matters: Oasis is known as an international activist investor and is known to influence how companies are managed. This could mean it might get a more creative say in Kadokawa’s future projects.
Oasis now owns 17,658,500 shares of Kadokawa (via GameBiz)
As reported by GameBiz, Oasis’s number of shares held increased from 14,893,100 to 17,658,500, and its ownership percentage rose from 10.00% to 11.85%. All these shares were acquired through market transactions.
Sony formed its business alliance with Kadokawa back in 2024, when it became the company’s biggest shareholder. Now, nearly 2 years later, Oasis has taken over the spot from the Japanese gaming giants.
We’ll see if this change causes any changes in the company
Now that the deal is reportedly through, it’ll be seen if it does cause any creative or management changes in Kadokawa. But, for now its still in very early stages, so we can’t really say what the results will be.

The Saros director was asked about a probable PC port, but he dodged the question.
He said that right now they want to launch the game, and PS5 is the launch platform.
Recent reports indicated Sony’s huge shift from its multiplatform strategy.
For the last few months, reports have been circulating that 6 years after it first did it, Sony is now looking to completely quit PC ports for its flagship single-player titles. Now, a recent interview indicates that the reports could indeed be true.
The upcoming PS5 exclusive title, Saros‘ director was asked if the game will get a PC port. He smartly dodged the question, saying that for now, they are concentrating on launching the shooter for Sony’s console.
Why it matters: The PC ports were huge hits when they first came out and generated a substantial amount of revenue. However, with the Steam Machine approaching, Sony wants to retain the value of its consoles.
Saros devs dodged a question about a PC port
In a recent interview with Game Informer, Gregory Louden was asked if the game is coming to PC, and he replied that today, we are only focused on PS5. Now, there were reports that initially a port was planned.
Today we’re only talking about Saros and the launch on the PlayStation 5.
The report indicated that both Ghost of Yotei and Saros were supposed to be ported to Steam, but Sony planned a strategy shift. So, now only live service games will launch on PC, with no single-player ports planned.
PlayStation is expected to stop releasing single-player PC ports
The Steam Machine will obviously have access to the full Steam library. Additionally, Xbox Helix is expected to feature multiple storefronts as well, so if Sony released its games on PC, the consoles would’ve been in jeopardy.
This makes it a smart decision to keep its console’s value. Microsoft went all in, and the Xbox sales completely faltered; Sony likely doesn’t want the same to happen to PlayStation any time soon.

Pearl Abyss is interested in bringing Crimson Desert to the Nintendo Switch 2.
The developer has already started R&D, according to CEO Heo Jin-Young.
Keeping the lower specs of the console into perspective, Pearl Abyss thinks some aspects will need to be removed from the game to get it running on Switch 2.
Due to Crimson Desert’s immense scale, the title has been a big hit among players despite some nitpicks regarding its story and controls. Now, Pearl Abyss is teasing that the open-world game could be coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 very soon.
Why it matters: If Pearl Abyss can get the massive open-world of Crimson Desert working on the Switch 2 without losing much of the game’s charm, it would be an incredible achievement.
Pearl Abyss has started R&D to bring the massive world of Crimson Desert to Nintendo Switch 2.
During a recent shareholder meeting, Pearl Abyss CEO Heo Jin-Young revealed that the developer is interested in bringing Crimson Desert to Nintendo Switch 2. The CEO stated that the team has started looking into this potential port, and R&D has already begun.
Compared to other consoles, the Switch still has lower specifications, so there are things we would have to give up. Internally, we have begun R&D with interest.
Jin-Young also addressed the lower specs of the Switch 2, saying that Pearl Abyss is aware that some things will have to be taken out of Crimson Desert to get the game running on the console.
Considering how high-end AAA titles like Resident Evil Requiem, Star Wars Outlaws, and Cyberpunk 2077 have been ported to the Nintendo Switch 2, the console can hold its own. However, Crimson Desert is a completely different beast, with at least 300 hours of content packed into it.
It would be an achievement for Pearl Abyss to get the game running on Switch 2.
