Circana Analyst Warns PS6 Could Hit $1,000 Price Tag: “I’d Really Hate to See That”

Story Highlight
  • Circana analyst thinks that the PS6 could easily cost $1000.
  • This is due to the ongoing RAM shortage as well as the poor economic state of the world.
  • Even if the situation wasn’t so fragile, the specs PS6 has to offer would make it an expensive console.

With the current memory crisis worldwide, all eyes are on Microsoft and Sony to see what price they settle on for the next generation of console releases. Xbox ‘Project Helix’ will be a premium console, but the PS6 will take a traditional approach, although its pricing may not be so traditional.

Accounting for the beefier hardware, inflation, and inflated RAM prices, the PS6 is expected to cost 50% more than the PS5, at least that’s what one senior analyst thinks.

Why it matters: Gaming is becoming an increasingly expensive hobby, and at the current pace, Sony may even struggle to sell the PS6

PS6 and Next-Gen Xbox
Both Rival Parties Will Clash With Each Other During The Holidays In 2027

GamesRadar+ talked to Circana’s Mat Piscatella about his thoughts on PS6’s pricing, and the senior analyst didn’t have anything positive to say, stating that the price jump for next generation would be the biggest one they’ve seen.

Other than that, the publication also talked to Joost van Dreunen, a video games professor at NYU. Here’s what he had to say about the current console situation, reflecting on the ongoing global escalation surrounding the U.S.

The relentless effort by the US administration to disrupt the global economy is backfiring exactly as expected.

Continuing the conversation with Mat, the analyst added that the PS6 would very well be priced at a $1000.

Could we see $1k+ pricing? Sure, that’s possible. Would really hate to see that, but it’s possible.

Recent price adjustments have already pushed the PS5 Pro to $900, which is the most expensive a console has been. The current situation already doesn’t paint a good picture for the future of consoles.

A New PS Handheld Is Also Expected To Release Soon, Potentially Costing $500

Anyhow, we expect the PS6 to be priced at least $700, even with the eased-up situation, since the 30GB memory doesn’t come cheap. Although Sony will try to subsidize the pricing, whether it will work out for them or not, we’ll have to see, since there will be fewer customers for the PS6 if it’s going at a higher price range.

Modern Statistics Platforms Are Changing How We See Esports

Story Highlight
  • Streaming transformed viewers from passive observers into active participants through live chats and community interaction.
  • Live statistics and overlays help fans analyze matches in real-time and understand the strategy behind the plays.
  • Easy access to pro-level insights has narrowed the gap between experts and amateurs, making games more competitive overall.

The rise of esports has been fascinating to witness. It doesn’t feel like the same scene it was even a few years ago. It’s not just about watching matches anymore. It’s about how we watch, how we react, and how deeply we understand what’s happening on screen.

Modern platforms have quietly reshaped the entire experience, turning esports into something more interactive, more data-driven, and honestly, more addictive.

Streaming Turned Watching Into Participating

G2 vs Heroic IEM 2023 Grand Final.

Platforms like Twitch and YouTube Gaming didn’t just make esports easier to watch, they made it feel alive. You’re not sitting there like a passive viewer anymore. You’re in chat, reacting to every clutch moment, spamming emotes, arguing over plays, and feeling like part of the crowd.

That instant connection changed everything. Big tournaments now feel like shared moments rather than broadcasts. Even smaller matches can blow up if the right clip hits at the right time. It’s less about “tuning in” and more about being plugged into a constant stream of content.

And the biggest shift? Viewers now expect more than just gameplay. They want commentary, stats, reactions, and personality all at once.

Stats Are Now Part of the Entertainment

There was a time when only hardcore fans cared about numbers. Now, stats are part of the show.

Any solid esports statistics platform today gives you everything mid-match: K/D ratios, player impact, team trends, and momentum shifts. And instead of being hidden in spreadsheets, this info is baked right into streams with clean overlays and live updates.

This has changed how people watch games. You’re not just reacting to a crazy play, you’re understanding why it happened. You start spotting patterns, predicting outcomes, and even questioning decisions like a mini analyst.

It also raised the bar for players. When everything is tracked and visible, there’s no hiding a bad performance. Fans notice. Instantly.

And it’s not just viewers who benefit from all this data. Players and teams are living in it.

Modern tools let them break down matches in detail, study opponents, and fix mistakes faster than ever. Even casual players now have access to insights that used to be reserved for pros.

That gap between “pro knowledge” and “public knowledge” is shrinking. And because of that, the overall skill level across games is rising. Ranked matches feel harder, metas evolve faster, and players are way more aware of what they’re doing.

In a way, platforms didn’t just improve esports. They made everyone better at games.

Social Media Made Esports Feel Bigger Than Matches

Evo 2024
Evo 2024 Was An Unforgettable Esports Event.

If streaming made esports interactive, social media made it unavoidable.

Clips, highlights, roster drama, patch reactions, everything spreads instantly. A single insane moment in a game like Counter-Strike 2 or Dota 2 can hit millions of people within hours.

But more importantly, it gave players and teams personalities. Fans don’t just follow teams for results anymore. They follow stories, rivalries, and moments.

That constant flow of content keeps esports alive even when tournaments aren’t running. There’s always something happening, and that keeps people invested long-term.

The Line Between Game and Sport Keeps Blurring

With all these platforms combined, esports doesn’t feel like “just gaming” anymore. It has structure, analysis, narratives, and a global audience that treats it seriously.

At the same time, it still keeps that raw gaming energy. Memes, chaos, unpredictable plays, that stuff hasn’t gone anywhere. If anything, platforms amplify it.

That mix is what makes esports unique right now. It’s part sport, part entertainment, and part online culture all rolled into one.

Modern platforms didn’t just improve esports, they changed how we experience it. We’re more involved. We understand more. We care more.

And maybe the biggest shift is this: watching esports now feels closer to playing the game than ever before.

That’s not just evolution. That’s a completely different way of seeing competitive gaming.

New Crimson Desert Patch Fixes Critical Player Issues, Improves Controls And Mounts

Story Highlight
  • Crimson Desert’s new patch has fixed the mount mechanics and the game’s controls, addressing some important issues.
  • Players can now have up to 5 summonable mounts, and Pearl Abyss has also patched problems with mouse and keyboard controls.
  • Other improvements to UI, graphics, and localisation have also been made, and the developer is constantly listening to player feedback.

Arguably, Crimson Desert has changed mixed reviews into positive acclaim faster than anyone else in gaming history. Pearl Abyss immediately patched aspects of the game that fans didn’t like following a rocky start, updating the boss fights and improving transport.

The open-world title has already risen to a positive user score on both Metacritic and Steam while being a commercial juggernaut, selling more than 3 million copies. Now, Pearl Abyss has come out with another update addressing some new complaints from the Crimson Desert community.

Why it matters: After laying the foundations for a beautiful open-world, Pearl Abyss has displayed a masterclass in how to work on a game’s issues after launch.

In the new 1.01.00 patch, Pearl Abyss addressed critical player concerns like the game’s controls and its mount mechanics. Thanks to this new update, you can now obtain and summon up to 5 legendary animals like the White Bear, Silver Fang, and Snowwhite Deer in Crimson Desert.

Furthermore, movement controls in the open-world title have been improved, with players now getting a speed increase to fight the bosses. Stamina requirements for flight and Aerial Maneuvers have also decreased, so these abilities can be used more consistently.

Fans playing Crimson Desert with a keyboard and mouse will also face fewer issues now, as the patch has addressed multiple player concerns. Loading times have also been reduced for fast travel and revival to make the gameplay experience more seamless.

Crimson Desert Bosses Nerfed
This new patch has improved the game’s controls and combat.

In addition, players can now store all selected items with convenience in Crimson Desert as the developer has added a dedicated option for this function. Other UI, graphical, localisation, and miscellaneous fixes have also arrived in the open-world title, and Pearl Abyss has assured fans its listening intently to improve the game.

DDR5 RAM Prices Are Finally Seeing Decline After OpenAI Fails To Purchase 40% Of World’s DRAM Wafer Supply

Story Highlight
  • DDR5 RAM prices are finally starting to decline for the first time in several months.
  • Google’s new compression algorithm is being hailed as the major reason behind the price drops.
  • OpenAI no longer buying 40% of the world’s DRAM wafer supply is another factor in declining demand.

2025 H2 brought a rise in RAM prices and other consumer components that rely on DRAM and NAND memory. This crisis was driven by a huge increase in demand by AI tech giants who rushed to secure as much supply as possible to meet future goals.

The lack of stocks made high-end memory sticks more expensive than most current-gen consoles. However, DDR5 RAM prices are now finally declining for the first time in months, driven by several new developments in the industry.

Why it matters: While the recent DDR5 RAM price drop could be a temporary anomaly, it shows that changing market conditions will likely cause the memory prices to drop to their standard levels over time.

The Corsair Vengeance 32GB DDR5 RAM price history shows a notable decline. || Image Source: Camelcamelcamel.

The Corsair Vengeance 32GB DDR5 has become slightly more affordable, falling to $379 instead of its usual $439 peak on Amazon. Similar prices are being observed on other platforms like Newegg, particularly for Corsair products at the time of writing.

The component cost tracker PCPartPicker also shows that prices of several other RAMs are beginning to flatten.

OpenAI not buying 40% of the world’s DRAM wafer supply from Samsung and SK Hynix could have also kick-started the price drop in RAM prices. These deals were only a letter of intent, but the world treating them as binding purchase orders brought the RAM apocalypse.

The decrease in costs is also largely attributed to Google’s new TurboQuant compression algorithm. The KV cache compression reduces memory requirements in AI workloads by up to 6x

The paper also reveals that the compression layer does not produce a noticeable difference in the long-context workload.

This development indicates that these AI tech giants won’t need as much memory supply as they once thought, which could have started the price decline. However, this might not be a long-standing fall since Google’s new algorithm still supposedly has hard limitations.

Do you think DDR5 RAM prices will continue to plummet to their standard levels as the hype simmers? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below, or join the discussion on the Tech4Gamers forum.

Epic Games Is Under Fire For Laying Off Developer With Terminal Brain Cancer

Story Highlight
  • Epic Games laid off a terminally ill programmer fighting brain cancer who had been at the company for over six years.
  • The developer’s wife criticised Epic for leaving a loyal employee without life insurance and any income at such a crucial juncture.
  • Gamers online have criticised the company’s decision, calling it cruel and asking Tim Sweeney to make amendments.

Update: Tim Sweeney has confirmed that Epic Games is working with the affected family to resolve insurance issues.

Original Story: Epic Games shocked the gaming world a few days ago by laying off 1,000 employees all of a sudden. The company justified this decision by claiming that a decline in Fortnite engagement has reduced its revenue, prompting criticism from many in the industry.

Among those impacted were senior developers who have worked on Fortnite since its inception, as well as the concept artist who created Jonesy, the game’s mascot. Now, Epic Games is facing backlash once again after fans learned that a terminally ill developer was also fired by the company.

Why it matters: Fortnite is arguably the biggest money-making machine in the industry. Hence, Epic’s continued layoffs in such circumstances reflect poorly on the company.

Epic Games terminally ill layoff
Source: Facebook

In a post on Facebook, Jenni Griffin, the wife of Epic Games programmer Michael Prinke, revealed that the developer has lost his life insurance while battling brain cancer due to Epic laying him off.

In addition to fighting his terminal illness without any income, Prinke’s family has lost the right to get a new life insurance policy, as it was a pre-existing disease. The developer’s wife criticised Epic Games for firing her husband despite knowing his condition.

She stated that the higher-ups at the gaming company don’t understand the full human impact of layoffs and treat developers like Michael Prinke as mere numbers on the board. Griffin asked people to share the post in hopes of reaching out to Epic Games to resolve this anxious situation.

Epic Games Fan reaction
Fans were unhappy to learn about Michael Prinke’s situation.

Fans online have not taken a kind stance on this, calling Epic Games cruel for making such a decision and asking if the company was happy to save costs by firing a terminally ill employee with no life insurance. Players criticised Epic Games and Tim Sweeney for laying off long-term employees like Michael Prinke, who literally built their fortune.

AMD Joins Intel in Massive CPU Price Hike: Ryzen Processors Set to Jump 15% Starting This April

Story Highlight
  • Last week, Intel announced that it will be increasing its CPU prices by around 10%.
  • AMD is reportedly set to follow suit, with CPU prices expected to increase by 15%.
  • This makes the overall PC building situation even worse for general consumers.

Amid the ongoing memory crisis, almost every PC component is now at its highest price in a very long time. Recently, Intel announced a 10% hike in its CPUs, and more bad news follows, as its competitor is set to do the same thing.

After Intel, a new report claims that AMD is also looking to increase CPU prices by 15% starting from April. Until now, the prices could still be found somewhere around MSRP, but now, they will receive a massive bump.

Why it matters: With RAM, SSD, and GPU prices already hovering way above their MSRPs, CPUs will see a similar trend, making them yet another PC component that could slip past the buying power of general consumers.

Ryzen 5 5500X3D
AMD processors are set to receive a price hike as well

Nikkei Asia has reported that AMD CPUs will receive a 15% price hike, starting from April. As the demand for server CPUs increases, companies are neglecting the consumer market and going all in with the data center demand

The shifting focus has led to a lesser CPU supply for consumers, which is leading to the upcoming price hike. What used to be a short wait from order to CPU shipment has now stretched to a process lasting 8-12 weeks.

Intel Returns To Profit
Intel recently announced a CPU price hike as well

The report further notes that the period between April and June would be the worst for the supply, and the prices will be at their highest. This makes the overall situation even worse for gamers, who were looking to build a PC soon.

Is The $500 Console Dead? Analysts Warn Xbox And Nintendo Will Follow Sony’s Massive Price Hike

Story Highlight
  • Analyst Piers Harding-Rolls has stated that Xbox and Nintendo could follow suit and increase console prices after Sony.
  • The analyst thinks these price hikes have been inevitable, and the gaming giants are in an awkward position due to the Middle East war.
  • These external circumstances have come at a bad time for the industry, as many were waiting for GTA 6 to sell consoles.

The enormous price increase for the PlayStation 5 console family has shocked players around the globe. Following this cost surge, the Digital edition of the PS5 is now the cheapest variant, coming in at $600.

The PS5 Pro, on the other hand, has received a hefty $150 price increase, which makes its current retail cost $900. If analysts are correct, this might not even be the worst-case scenario, as Nintendo and Xbox could also follow Sony’s lead for their hardware.

Why it matters: If most buyers are priced out of buying hardware, the gaming industry will lose out on a lot of money as GTA 6 is releasing this year.

Xbox Series Nintendo Switch
The Xbox Series and Nintendo Switch 2 could be next in line for a price surge.

While talking to EuroGamer, analyst Piers Harding-Rolls stated that it is very likely that Nintendo and Xbox will also increase the retail cost of their consoles. The director of Ampere Analysis explained that this price hike has been inevitable for a while due to the prolonged increase in memory and storage prices.

With no sign of prices easing largely due to demand for AI infrastructure, it wouldn’t be a surprise if Microsoft and Nintendo followed suit in the not-too-distant future.”

Furthermore, with the value of memory products not normalizing in the near future, Xbox and Nintendo will be forced to increase the market price of their hardware.

Harding-Rolls also thinks that the war in the Middle East has added to the predicament of the three gaming giants, which are now in a difficult position due to the upcoming wave of inflation. Moreover, with GTA 6 releasing later this year, the analyst states these external factors couldn’t have come at a worse time.

gta 6 physical featured
With GTA 6 around the corner, these price increases will impact purchasing power.

Both Sony and Xbox are expecting the Rockstar title to be a system seller, but if increasing costs make the $500 console redundant, the companies will miss out on a golden opportunity.

“Gabe’s Better At That Than You”: Valve Veteran Blasts Tim Sweeney Over 1,000 Epic Games Layoffs

Story Highlight
  • A former Valve employee has blasted Epic Games’ Tim Sweeney for recent layoffs.
  • He said that Sweeney only wants to make money and doesn’t care about the employees.
  • Faliszek appreciated Gabe Newell, saying he is much better at it than Sweeney.

Layoffs have become an unfortunate trend in the gaming industry that just doesn’t seem to stop. Amid massive budgets, it is becoming harder and harder to sustain huge companies, and this leads to massive layoffs quite regularly.

Epic Games became the latest to do so, as it recently laid off over 1,000 of its employees. This has caught a lot of backlash, and a veteran Valve employee blasted Tim Sweeney, saying that Gabe Newell is better than you

Why it matters: Despite Steam having its fair share of issues, the company has been quite decent to its employees, and we can’t really think of the last time it laid off a huge or even a small number of its employees.

@chetfaliszek

Former Valve writer Chet Faliszek has taken a dig at Epic Games’ CEO Tim Sweeney, criticizing him for the recent 1,000 layoffs. What’s even worse is that Sweeney later said that now the industry is full of great talent to hire.

And I guess well, hey, Tim, Gabe’s better at that than you. I don’t know what to tell you, man, because you stopped caring about making things.

– Chet Faliszek

The layoffs happened because Fortnite saw a decline, and it helped them cut $500 million in operating costs. Faliszek slammed the statement and said Epic only focuses on one game, and when it couldn’t perform, the employees had to face the consequences

Epic Games has been under fire for laying off such a massive number of employees

So, he essentially defended the decision, making things even worse. Faliszek put all the blame on Sweeney and said that it’s all his fault, and Gabe is better than him, as he makes money and still keeps everything going.

He further said that when he worked at Valve, there was a kind of ownership, a security, that they would be rewarded for the hard work. Epic Games is now just a money-making machine that doesn’t care about its employees.

Crimson Desert Co-Op is Coming, But It Costs Visuals: Devs Confirm Graphical Sacrifices for Multiplayer

Story Highlight
  • The Crimson Desert team has already experimented with a multiplayer mode for Crimson Desert.
  • The mode has been in the R&D phase, but it requires graphical sacrifices to work.
  • It will be a huge challenge for Pearl Abyss, as sacrificing visuals could also backfire.

Crimson Desert has been a staggering success despite some hiccups during launch that were patched much sooner than anyone expected. The game is a treat to play due to its dynamic world, and fans are already looking forward to what’s next for it.

It’s been rumored that a multiplayer or co-op mode for Crimson Desert was always in discussions internally. The Pearl Abyss boss now confirms that such a feature has been in the R&D phase, but adding it is proving to be a massive challenge for the team.

Why it matters: Crimson Desert’s world is set perfectly for a multiplayer mode, but adding a separate mode to accommodate its large open world is proving to be harder than Pearl Abyss thought. Regardless, it definitely appears to be in the works for now.

Crimson Desert
Crimson Desert’s gameplay has been a huge hit.

In an interview with South Korean outlet Yonhap News, Pearl Abyss CEO Heo Jin-Young mentions that the developers are already trying to add multiplayer in the game, but it needs a lot of visual sacrifices.

Therefore, the team is definitely experimenting with adding a co-op mode in the fictional continent of Pywel, but its current progress remains unknown.

We have tried to implement multiplayer within the actual development team, but there are definitely some things that need to be abandoned graphically in the current device environment.

-Pearl Abyss CEO, Heo Jin-young.

Pearl Abyss will likely continue working on multiplayer for a long time while reducing sacrifices. Adding a functioning multiplayer with visual downgrades could backfire, after all.

The CEO also expresses that paid expansions can certainly boost sales. However, Pearl Abyss is currently aiming to expand content through free updates.

Crimson Desert
The game features a thriving emergent world seldom seen in most RPG games these days.

Elsewhere in the interview, the CEO admits that Crimson Desert suffers from a weak story. The team could have further improved the campaign, but it focused on polishing the gameplay in the short time that was left.

Do you think Crimson Desert will get a multiplayer mode one day without the huge graphical sacrifices? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below, or join the discussion on the Tech4Gamers forum.

Starfield on PS5 Will Take Massive 140 GB Storage; PS5 Pro Enhancements Confirmed Ahead of April 7 Launch

Story Highlight
  • Starfield, with its DLCs, will take up a behemoth 140 GB of storage on the PlayStation 5.
  • It will also integrate all Dual Sense features and will be enhanced for the PS5 Pro.
  • The title will release on the platform along with a new story DLC on April 7.

Ever since Starfield first launched on Xbox, there have been speculations that it might eventually come to PlayStation as well. Now, over 2 years since the initial launch, the space RPG is finally coming to PS5, and is already topping pre-orders

However, if you want to download Starfield on your PS5, it will take up a massive 140 GB of storage, including both DLCs. Additionally, the game is confirmed to feature PS5 Pro enhancements as well.

Why it matters: With PS5 Pro features, the console will undoubtedly become the best console to experience Bethesda’s space adventure; however, it will come at a massive cost of a huge amount of disk space.

Starfield PS5
Starfield will cost a massive 140 GB of storage on PlayStation

The base game will be around 123.347 GB, the Shattered Space DLC will be 12.502 GB, and the new upcoming expansion, Terran Armada, will be 4.017 GB, occupying a total of around 140 GB of the PS5 SSD.

The title will support the full array of PS5 features, such as the DualSense light bar, Adaptive Triggers, and more. Additionally, PS5 Pro enhancements will also be in place, but it’s unclear whether it’ll use the enhanced PSSR.

Starfield
It will feature all Dual Sense features and will be enhanced for PS5 Pro

So, for now, users will have to free up quite a bit of space for Starfield on PlayStation. The title was one of the biggest new IPs from Bethesda in years, and based on the pre-order numbers, it seems like it’ll be a hit on PS5

Death Stranding 2 Crosses 2 Million Sales Thanks To Successful PC Port, Sales On PS5 Also Boosted

Story Highlight
  • Death Stranding 2 has crossed 2 million sales globally after its Steam port shipped almost half a million copies in a week.
  • The title has generated $150 million in revenue already and has become a hit among Chinese players on Steam.
  • The action-adventure game’s launch on PC also boosted its sales on PS5 by more than 2x.

After months of waiting, Death Stranding 2 finally launched on PC this month and surprised many with its incredible debut. The Hideo Kojima game amassed more than 50k concurrent users on Steam, becoming the 5th best-performing PlayStation single-player title on the platform.

Now, sales estimates suggest that the Death Stranding 2 port was so successful that it even caused a boost in sales for the PS5 edition of the game.

Why it matters: Death Stranding 2’s impressive sales performance gives Sony a lot to think about, as there is a decent audience for its games on Steam.

Death Stranding 2 PC Sales
Source: Alinea Analytics

As reported by Alinea Analytics, Death Stranding 2 has crossed 2 million sales globally, thanks to its triumphant PC port. The action-adventure title has already shipped 425k copies on Steam, accounting for 21% of the game’s overall sales and helping it cross the $150 million mark in gross revenue generated.

In addition, the release of Death Stranding 2 on PC also boosted its performance on the PS5. Sony discounted the title to coincide with its launch on Steam, and that resulted in the game’s PS5 sales more than doubling to an average of 12.5k copies sold daily after March 19, reaching a peak of 12.8k unit sales.

Before Death Stranding 2 launched on Steam, daily shipments on PS5 peaked at around 5k copies sold during the last holiday season when the game had a discount. Hence, the PC port acted as a re-marketing tool for the Kojima Productions title.

Death Stranding 2
PS5 sales of the game saw a 2x boost due to the PC launch.

Alinea analytics also revealed that Death Stranding 2 has been a massive hit among Chinese players on Steam, as they account for 50% of the game’s audience. Hence, Sony definitely has a sizeable audience on the platform that would be left behind if reports regarding its new PC port strategy are correct.

Do you think Death Stranding 2 is proof that Sony should not stop releasing its games on PC, or is the company correct to keep titles exclusive to the PS5? Tell us in the comments below or head to the Tech4Gamers forum for discussion.

Bungie Says Marathon Is Here To Stay For Many Years Despite Poor Sales

Story Highlight
  • In Marathon’s PC performance guide, Bungie revealed that it plans to keep updating the game for many years to come.
  • The developer assured fans that it is sticking with the extraction shooter for the long haul.
  • Long-term patches and immediate updates are already in the pipeline to address players’ concerns regarding the game.

Unlike many predicted, Marathon hasn’t crashed at launch like Concord and has instead managed to amass a respectable player base on Steam. However, the Bungie title has still underwhelmed Sony, only selling 1.2 million copies, with just 19% of these sales being on the PS5.

Marathon has also been slammed by players for its difficult gameplay loop, even though critics have loved this aspect of the extraction shooter. Regardless of the launch performance and critical response, however, Bungie has announced plans to keep the game going for many years.

Why it matters: Marathon failed to reach the heights of Arc Raiders, but it has still managed to gain a core player base, which can grow further if Bungie keeps making good changes.

Marathon Support Bungie
Source: Marathon Help

In the Marathon PC performance guide, Bungie has stated that it is “in it for the long haul” with the extraction shooter. The developer assured fans that it will be updating the game for many years to come, and that every aspect of the title will improve further based on player feedback.

We are in it for the long haul with Marathon. We look forward to many years of steady improvements to every aspect of the game.”

Bungie further explained that, just as the team refined the extraction shooter’s visuals after initial fan criticism, Marathon’s performance on PC will improve over time.

The developer didn’t go into specifics on how the extraction shooter will be updated, but confirmed that it has long-term changes planned in addition to immediate updates that will improve CPU performance and other features.

Marathon Low Player Count
70% of Marathon’s player base is on PC.

Despite opening to an underwhelming Steam concurrent player count, Marathon has been averaging a respectable 380k Daily Active Users on the platform. Hence, it’s good to know that Bungie will improve the game for the thousands of players who have stuck around.

Do you think Marathon could grow to be as big as Rainbow Six Siege with continued support? Tell us in the comments below or head to the Tech4Gamers forum for discussion.
