The RPG Is Finally Finding Its Footing!

Story Highlight
  • Crimson Desert was off to a shaky start after mixed audience and critical reviews.
  • The recent patches fixed a lot of things, and the user score has finally turned positive.
  • Steam reviews are now also mostly positive, from the initial mixed.

Crimson Desert launched to an underwhelming reception from both the critics and the audience. It was criticized for a lot of technical issues that brought the review scores down, but now Pearl Abyss has already fixed many of the problems.

The Crimson Desert User Score on Metacritic has finally turned positive following the recent patches. The update went live a couple of days ago and brought in over 100 fixes, which resolved most of the major complaints.

Why it matters: Technical flaws, difficult combat, and annoyingly tough boss battles were some of the major gripes at launch. The studio listened to the feedback and has now fixed most of what was wrong with the RPG.

After a mixed reception, Crimson Desert’s scores are finally turning positive

It debuted with a user score in the early-7s, which later settled to around 7.8, with a lot of mixed reviews. However, now the score has turned positive at 8.3, which is climbing further as more positive reviews pour in.

Additionally, the Steam reviews were also mixed at first, and they are now mostly positive as well. While now, technically, the game might not be a Game of the Year contender, it’s certainly an amazing RPG.

The level of exploration is unmatched, with thrilling boss fights. The story initially is a problem, and we finally know the reason for it, but again, exploration is what Pearl Abyss was targeting, and it aces in that department.
