The Developer Is Aware Some Things Might Need To Be Removed Due To The Console's Specs.

Story Highlight
  • Pearl Abyss is interested in bringing Crimson Desert to the Nintendo Switch 2.
  • The developer has already started R&D, according to CEO Heo Jin-Young.
  • Keeping the lower specs of the console into perspective, Pearl Abyss thinks some aspects will need to be removed from the game to get it running on Switch 2.

After opening to a mixed reception at launch, Crimson Desert has triumphed on both critical and commercial fronts. The open-world title has sold over 3 million copies, and thanks to the immediate response to player feedback, the game’s rating has risen to mostly positive on Steam after falling to an abysmal low at launch.

Due to Crimson Desert’s immense scale, the title has been a big hit among players despite some nitpicks regarding its story and controls. Now, Pearl Abyss is teasing that the open-world game could be coming to the Nintendo Switch 2 very soon.

Why it matters: If Pearl Abyss can get the massive open-world of Crimson Desert working on the Switch 2 without losing much of the game’s charm, it would be an incredible achievement.

Pearl Abyss has started R&D to bring the massive world of Crimson Desert to Nintendo Switch 2.

During a recent shareholder meeting, Pearl Abyss CEO Heo Jin-Young revealed that the developer is interested in bringing Crimson Desert to Nintendo Switch 2. The CEO stated that the team has started looking into this potential port, and R&D has already begun.

Compared to other consoles, the Switch still has lower specifications, so there are things we would have to give up. Internally, we have begun R&D with interest.

Jin-Young also addressed the lower specs of the Switch 2, saying that Pearl Abyss is aware that some things will have to be taken out of Crimson Desert to get the game running on the console.

Considering how high-end AAA titles like Resident Evil Requiem, Star Wars Outlaws, and Cyberpunk 2077 have been ported to the Nintendo Switch 2, the console can hold its own. However, Crimson Desert is a completely different beastwith at least 300 hours of content packed into it.

It would be an achievement for Pearl Abyss to get the game running on Switch 2.

If Pearl Abyss can pull this off, it would be an achievement, as Bethesda has failed to crack the Switch 2 code for Starfield so far.
