This year, Ubisoft decided to get in on the remake trend with Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, building the game from the ground up without using any code from the original. The company’s hard work has paid off, as the remake has become the highest user-rated entry in the franchise on Metacritic.

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced has also performed really well commercially, selling 2 million copies in just 24 hours after launch. As it turns out, the title has already surpassed Ubisoft’s expectations in terms of sales.

Why it matters: After the dismal performance of Shadows, Ubisoft needed a win from Assassin’s Creed and Black Flag Resynced has more than delivered for the French publisher.

In its Q1 sales report for the 2026-27 fiscal year, Ubisoft revealed that Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced has exceeded the company’s annual sales expectations in just 14 days.

The French publisher highlighted how the remake has sold 3.5 million copies so far, adding another 1.5 million unit sales after its ground-breaking launch. The game is currently outpacing Assassin’s Creed Shadows by 2x, selling one million copies more than the 2025 RPG in its first day.

In addition, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is also setting new records, helping the franchise surpass 250 million sales overall while becoming the first title in the series to surpass 100k concurrent users on Steam

Ubisoft also made $1 million from microtransactions in just one day despite receiving backlash from fans for this predatory practice. Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced’s director has already announced that the game will be supported for at least a year; hence, this number will only go up.

With multiple expansions also in development according to reports, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced might turn out to be the franchise revival Ubisoft was hoping for.
