Asha Sharma’s first few months in the office have been a roller coaster ride. It started off with skepticism, then fans started to believe, and now, following the layoffs, players and even developers have become doubtful of the future.
Similarly, a US Congressman has also blasted the Xbox CEO for the recent layoffs, calling her work model a total scam, referring to the H-1B Visa program, and demanding her resignation from her federal position.
Why it matters: He says that the company removed thousands of employees while still working hiring people with H-1B visas, which leads to Americans losing their jobs while foreign workers are the ones favored.
Rep. Riley Moore appeared to be furious at Asha Sharma and revealed that he sent a letter to Fed chair Kevin Warsh urging him to remove the Xbox CEO from her recent appointment at the Federal Productivity task force.
He criticized her work model at Xbox, saying that she let go of thousands of employees, and she isn’t someone suitable for the job. Xbox is laying off American employees and replacing them with foreigners.
This is causing a lot of controversy considering the state of Xbox, and now the CEO is trapped in another issue and could lose her position. However, one could argue it isn’t Sharma doing it; instead, it’s the bigger body, Microsoft, responsible for all this.
