Ubisoft Going All In On Black Flag Resynced!

Story Highlight
  • Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced director hints that it could receive roughly one year of post-launch support.
  • Ubisoft is said to be preparing additional content, although a complete roadmap has not been announced.
  • The team wants players to keep returning even as major releases like GTA 6 compete for attention.

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced launched on July 9, bringing Edward Kenway’s popular adventure back with overhauled technology and major gameplay changes. Much to Ubisoft’s satisfaction, the game was very well-received and sold millions of units immediately.

However, the gaming giant may not be treating the release as a one-and-done remake. The director has now teased extensive continued post-launch support, potentially extending across the title’s first full year.

Why it matters: Long-term updates could give Black Flag Resynced a much longer sales tail while providing fans with more story content beyond the original story.

Speaking with JorRaptor, director Richard Knight suggested that Ubisoft wants players to remain engaged with Black Flag Resynced well beyond launch.

While discussing the game’s future, the developer even asked fans to continue playing when GTA 6 arrives. He later went on to say that it wouldn’t too unexpected to see the remake receive updates for a full year.

Long-term support for a year doesn’t feel like a crazy bet.

Although a full year of support is not officially guaranteed, the director’s wording suggests that the team is already looking well ahead and expects Black Flag Resynced to remain active through upcoming major releases.

The tease also lines up with confirmation that Ubisoft is planning large story DLCs for Black Flag Resynced. These expansions could build upon Kenway’s journey rather than simply adding smaller activities or cosmetic rewards.

For context, Black Flag Resynced reportedly outsold Shadows at launch, giving the team plenty of reason to pursue long-term support. Ubisoft could extend sales and continue to satisfy players through this model.

The long-term support could also lead to much-requested features like the return of hidden blade combat being added to the remake.

Would a full year of story expansions keep you playing Black Flag Resynced, even alongside releases like GTA 6?
