PS5 Emulation Making Fast Progress As Ghost Of Yotei Already Boots To Splash Screen On PC

Expert Verified By

A Playable Ghost Of Yotei PC Build Could Only Be Months Away!

Story Highlight
  • PS5 emulators SharpEmu and KtytyPS5 have made a lot of progress in the past few weeks.
  • SharpEmu is already capable of booting Ghost of Yotei to the splash screen on PC. Astro Bot also boots up.
  • Meanwhile, the KtytyPS5 emulator was previously able to boot GTA 5 up to its menu.

PS4 emulation was previously making rapid progress, but Sony’s controversial decision to end disc production in 2028 has pushed the community to accelerate PS5 emulator projects. SharpEmu and KtytyPS5 emulators are the new big players on the PS5 emulation scene.

SharpEmu has now achieved a new progress milestone. Testing reveals that the emulator is already able to boot Ghost of Yotei to the starting screen on PC before it eventually crashes.

Why it matters: The PS5 emulation scene is rapidly growing, motivating gamers to bring exclusive PlayStation titles to the PC. Most games can still only boot to the splash screen at the moment, but a few are already showing signs of playability to a limited extent.

The testing by BrutalSam on YouTube shows Ghost of Yotei booting to the splash screen, marking one of the most remarkable milestones for the emulator so far. We might even see a playable build soon if development continues at a rapid pace.

Astro Bot also boots with menus starting to form before it crashes. Seeing these PS5 exclusives even booting on PC so early into SharpEmu’s development is a major sign of milestones yet to come. The progress of development seems much faster than PS4 emulators.

Previously, the same emulator could run Dreaming Sarah, a 2D puzzle platformer. It was also able to push Bloodborne to the loading screen during testing.

Similarly, the KtytyPS5 emulator previously managed to boot GTA 5 up to its starting menu and settings. It was also able to get Quake 2 Remastered to the 3D rendering stage.

So, it won’t be long before we start seeing these PS5 emulators run AAA first-party Sony projects like Ghost of Yotei and the upcoming Marvel’s Wolverine smoothly on PC.

Do you think Ghost of Yotei will become playable on PC via emulation in the next few months, or will it take a lot more time to make that sort of progress? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below, or join the discussion on the Tech4Gamers forum.
