- The experimental PlayStation 5 emulator now boots into select 3D games without crashing during the initial startup phase.
- The native PS5 version of Grand Theft Auto V successfully loads its settings and main menu, though users cannot actually play the story mode or go online yet.
- The remastered version of Quake II reaches actual 3D gameplay, making it one of the first public PS5 emulation projects to do so.
PlayStation 5 emulation continues to make surprising progress, and the latest KyTyPS5 0.0.3 release is generating excitement among the emulation community. Despite being an experimental version, the emulator is already producing amazing results with some commercial games.
Specifically with this emulator, you can now access the PlayStation 5 version of Grand Theft Auto V’s menu and settings. Furthermore, there has been progress with Quake II Remastered on PS5, which can now boot and enter gameplay through the emulator.
Musashi, also known as iExplosiveRage on Xbox, published test results demonstrating that the native PlayStation 5 version of GTA V can finish a large amount of the boot process. The game displays Michael on screen and lets you access the menus and options.

For now, neither the campaign mode nor GTA Online is accessible. Currently, the achievement is limited to overcoming numerous initialization issues that previously caused the emulator to crash or shut down. Given that this is an experimental version 0.0.3, it’s extremely impressive.
Quake II Remastered goes a step further. The KyTyPS5 emulator lets you “play” the PlayStation 5 version of Quake II on your PC. “Play” lets you start a game and view real-time 3D graphics. However, the game’s performance is just 7 frames per second, and there are several graphic flaws; it falls far short of providing a functional experience. Nonetheless, it would be one of the first commercial 3D PS5 games to achieve the “in-game” stage using a public emulator.
In technical terms, reaching the GTA V menus proves that KytyPS5 can already manage some of the executable’s loading, as well as the game’s libraries, video output, and some graphical resources. The fact that Quake II Remastered is playable marks another milestone, with only performance tweaks remaining. Graphics compatibility, stability, audio, performance, and various system features remain unsatisfactory. This will arrive in the next few months, and who knows, maybe in a year.
However, the emulator’s creators referred to the KyTyPS5 version as “0.0.3 WIP,” indicating that it is still a work in progress. The makers do not recommend updating because older games may stop working with this new version. As a result, the developer continues to promote KyTyPS5 0.0.2 for broader compatibility, even though the build contains graphical issues.
