Release Could Be Around The Corner!

Story Highlight
  • Stellar Blade has received an ESRB rating for Nintendo Switch 2.
  • The classification follows confirmation that the Switch 2 port is planned for 2026.
  • An official release date announcement could now be approaching.

Stellar Blade appears to be moving closer to its Nintendo Switch 2 debut after the announcement of its sequel not too long ago. Following earlier reports and confirmation of a 2026 launch window, Shift Up’s action game has now surfaced through another major pre-release classification.

The Nintendo Switch 2 version of Stellar Blade has been rated by the ESRB.

Why it matters: Stellar Blade would give Nintendo Switch 2 another technically ambitious third-party release while opening Shift Up’s AAA IP to a significantly broader console audience.

The ESRB listing does not include a firm release date. However, the timing suggests that certification and launch preparations are progressing. While a rating does not guarantee an immediate launch, classifications are typically secured after a port has reached a relatively advanced stage of development.

The biggest doubt is how Shift Up will adapt Stellar Blade for Nintendo’s hardware. Previously, the title attracted attention for its fast combat, detailed character models, and polished presentation, with the game later being praised for its highly polished and largely bug-free launch.

The Nintendo Switch 2 will likely require visual and performance adjustments compared to the PS5 and PC editions. Still, the newer Nintendo hardware was designed to accommodate more demanding modern ports, and Stellar Blade could become an important showcase if Shift Up delivers a stable version.

A Switch 2 release would be another step in Stellar Blade’s broader platform expansion. Its PC launch was previously PlayStation’s best-performing single-player PC port, showing that demand for the IP extends beyond PS5.

An Xbox version of Stellar Blade is also on the way, although the developer reportedly needs additional time to complete that port. Together, these releases suggest Shift Up is turning Stellar Blade into a multiplatform franchise rather than keeping it closely tied to one console ecosystem.

The timing is also significant because Shift Up has already revealed Stellar Blade sequel Blood Rain. Bringing the original game to more platforms could grow the audience ahead of that sequel’s eventual launch.

Would you play Stellar Blade on Nintendo Switch 2, or would you prefer the PS5 or PC version?
