Stellar Blade is among the biggest success stories in recent years. From a studio that only did mobile games, to creating the amazing fighting game, Shift Up Entertainment took everyone by surprise, and they had a major reveal today.
At the ongoing Summer Game Fest, we just got our very first look at the Stellar Blade Sequel titled Blood Rain. The title is set in the same universe and is a direct sequel to the first game, but will feature a new protagonist, Evie.
Why it matters: The title quickly became one of the highest-rated and best-selling games of 2024 when it released. Initially launched on PS5, the original game was an even bigger hit with its PC release as well.
This announcement did take us by surprise, as we knew the game was in its very early phase and we might not see the footage for some time. While yes, it’s still in early development, it has already stunned with the trailer.
Some additional details have been revealed, like it’s the direct continuation of the original game, but unfortunately, it won’t feature its fan-favorite protagonist, Eve. She will be replaced by a new lead, Evie.
However, from the early look, the game looks stunning already. The footage we saw was entirely in-game footage captured on PC, and visual upgrades are uncanny, likely based on the power of Unreal Engine 5.
Anyhow, since this time, the game isn’t being published by Sony, it will be released day 1 on PC and PS5. Shift Up has also shown interest in expanding platforms, so we might actually see the sequel get an Xbox release as well.
