The CEO Wants To Reset The Company In The Next 100 Days.

Story Highlight
  • When asked where Xbox should be by 2030, Asha Sharma stated that she wants it to be the biggest gaming company in the world.
  • The CEO revealed that the work to revive the gaming giant has just begun.
  • The initial policies have been received positively, but the company has to be profitable in the future.

New Xbox CEO Asha Sharma has done an impressive job so far in steering a sinking ship back to safety. The company’s revised policies are already bearing fruit for the boss, with strategies like the Game Pass price cut reflecting positively on the brand.

The Player Voice system has also earned praise from players, and developers have already started implementing changes based on feedback. However, a lot of work remains to be done, and Asha Sharma thinks Xbox should be at the top by the end of this decade.

Why it matters: With Sony continuing to make mistakes, leapfrogging PlayStation isn’t too far-fetched if Xbox makes the right decisions.

While responding to a question about where Xbox should be in four years, Asha Sharma stated that she wants the company to be the biggest gaming and entertainment entity in the world by 2030.

Q- So, it’s 2030. You’ve had four years to run Xbox. What does success look like?

Asha Sharma- I’d love to see us be the number one gaming and entertainment company.

Even though the new Xbox CEO has a clear goal in mind, the road is going to be hard, as Sharma revealed that the work to reset Xbox is just beginning. She explained that in the next 100 days, Xbox will look at its investments and operations in a bid to return to growth and reset the business.

The new boss praised the work done since her appointment, disclosing that Game Pass has returned to growth after 8 months and that Xbox is growing closer to players.

Xbox Remove Call of Duty Game Pass
The company has already started improving under new leadership, restarting Game Pass growth after months.

However, Asha Sharma thinks reviving the gaming giant is a long-term project, and surpassing Sony will require a lot more deliberation over the next few years. The Japanese company is ahead of Xbox in raw player spending and hardware sales, meaning a return to exclusivity is necessary for Asha Sharma to take on PlayStation.

Do you think Xbox is in a position to take over the gaming industry if it makes the right decisions? Can Sony fall behind in the pecking order? Tell us in the comments below or head to the Tech4Gamers forum for discussion.
