- Capcom seems to have yet another hit in 2026 with the Onimusha Way of the Sword release.
- The demo has had a widely positive reception with some very minor gripes all around.
- This will mark an already hugely successful year for Capcom with 4th hit in a row.
PlayStation’s recent State of Play brought us a brand new look at the upcoming Onimusha game, along with the release date set for September 25. In addition, a demo was also shadowdropped that gives us an idea of what to expect.
The reviews on the Onimusha Way of the Sword demo are very positive and suggest that Capcom has yet another hit on its hands for the year. It has already had an insanely successful year led by Resident Evil Requiem.
Why it matters: Most of the people who have played the demo have had good things to say about it with very minor complaints overall, and with the series already being popular, it could also be a financial hit.
Based on the audience reception from the Onimusha Way of the Sword demo, the game is gearing up to be another success. It is being praised for fun combat, decent visuals, and pretty good performance and optimization.
One of the only complaints is that it feels too easy at times, as the demo doesn’t have any difficulty options. However, that is a minor gripe considering the full release could add additional modes, fixing the issue.

Overall, Capcom is gearing up for an insanely successful year. All of the games in 2026, kicking off with Monster Hunter to Resident Evil Requiem and Pragmata, have been massive, and Onimusha will likely add to that.
