Players Want Another Cyberpunk 2077 DLC From CDPR Amidst Huge Resurgence In Players

The Game Hit 100k Concurrent Players Earlier This Month.

Story Highlight
  • Fans are asking CD Projekt Red to make another DLC for Cyberpunk 2077.
  • The game has recently seen a massive player resurgence, hitting 100k concurrent players this month due to a new discount.
  • Officially, the developer has announced that there will be no new content coming to the RPG.

It won’t be wrong to say that Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the greatest comeback stories in gaming history. Despite a messy launch filled with bugs, the RPG has gone on to sell 40 million copies worldwide in the last six years, even outpacing the sales of The Witcher 3.

The title has stayed among the best-selling games on Steam despite launching in 2020, and has been a driving force behind CD Projekt Red’s profits in the last few quarters. Now, Cyberpunk 2077 is seeing another resurgence in players on Steam, and fans are asking the Polish developer for a new DLC.

Why it matters: If a decade-old RPG can get a new expansion without much demand, there is no reason why Cyberpunk 2077 can’t get a new DLC, considering the hype around the new season of Edgerunners.

Cyberpunk 2077 players on Reddit want CD Projekt Red to start developing the second expansion of the game, thanks to the recent surge in players. A post on the game’s subreddit asking for a new DLC amassed over 12k upvotes, with fans ready to pay the premium amount for new story content.

Many argued that if The Witcher 3 can get an expansion over a decade after launching, CD Projekt Red has no excuse but to release new content for Cyberpunk 2077. Officially, the Polish developer did disclose that the RPG won’t get a DLC, as developers are focused on the sequel.

However, Cyberpunk 2077 hit a peak of 100k concurrent players on Steam earlier this month, due to a hefty discount and anticipation for the new season of Edgerunners, and is currently averaging around 50k concurrent players daily.

A Polish insider did state recently that CD Projekt Red is working on new expansions for the RPG, and fans can only hope this turns out to be true.

Do you want a new DLC for Cyberpunk 2077? Should the Polish developer focus on the sequel instead? Tell us in the comments below or head to the Tech4Gamers forum for discussion.
