These Expansions Could Be On A Smaller Scale.

Story Highlight
  • According to Polish analysts, CD Projekt Red is developing expansions for Cyberpunk 2077.
  • The studio revealed recently that it has two unannounced gaming projects in the works.
  • The firm previously predicted the correct release date of Songs of the Past.

CD Projekt Red arguably has the most exciting lineup of upcoming projects in the gaming industry. In addition to The Witcher 4 and Cyberpunk 2, the Polish studio is also developing a new expansion for The Witcher 3, titled Songs of the Past.

The announcement of this DLC, which will release 12 years after the game’s launch, has increased anticipation around the upcoming sequel. As it turns out, CD Projekt Red has other secret expansions in development, this time for Cyberpunk 2077.

Why it matters: The sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 is still miles away, so adding new content to the game and expanding its story makes a lot of sense financially for the Polish company.

According to Polish firm Erste Brokerage, CD Projekt Red is developing DLCs for Cyberpunk 2077 in the game’s original engine. Analysts at the firm suggest that the maintenance expenditure on the RPG has been the highest in the last few quarters since Phantom Liberty first launched, hinting that another expansion is in the works.

It could be a smaller expansion handled by an external studio, such as Virtuos, which developed the latest patches for Cyberpunk 2077 and is currently working on recording additional dialogue for the title. Hence, the DLC could be on a lesser scale, but something is definitely happening at the Polish company, according to experts.

CD Projekt Red did reveal in its recent financial results that two unannounced gaming projects are in the final stages of development and could launch in the coming quarters. However, the official Cyberpunk 2077 handle on X assured fans that no additional DLC or expansion is being developed for the game.

Cyberpunk 2077
CD Projekt Red has two unannounced gaming projects set to launch this fiscal year.

Erste Brokerage did predict that the Songs of the Past DLC would launch in 2027, meaning the analysts at the firm have some credibility. But, fans of the game will have to wait for official confirmation from CD Projekt Red, as for now, this is speculation.
