On the launch of 3rd generation Ryzen processors, AMD X570 motherboards also debuted on the market. As you probably know it, it was AMD’s high-end chipset for their Ryzen 3000 and Ryzen 5000 CPUs, which has now been superseded by the X670/X670E chipset. While the chipset itself is the most premium one offered, it doesn’t mean that just any X570 motherboard will fit your needs. To help you pick the most ideal option for yourself, I tested tens of options, then cherry-picked my top 6 that fall into different categories. Let’s dive in!
Take a look at my selection of the Best X570 Motherboards, all compared to each other:

Design & Build Quality: The ROG Strix X570-I Gaming’s design was immediately noticeable to me as I unboxed it, with a large VRM and M.2 heatsink. We get a pixelated “ROG STRIX” text on the VRM heatsink, and a ROG logo on the M.2 one, plus an integrated RGB strip on the right side. Furthermore, its 8-layer PCB means good build quality.
Performance: The ROG Strix X570-I Gaming integrates an 8+2 phase VRM design, which was enough for mild overclocking on the Ryzen 9 3950X in my testing. We have fairly large-sized VRM and chipset heatsinks, and the VRM temperatures peaked in the high 80°C, which is quite decent.
Features & Connectivity: First off, there is support for up to 64GB of DDR4 memory at up to 4800MHz. It also offers an HDMI 2.0 port and DisplayPort 1.4, plus integrated WiFi 6, Bluetooth 5.0, and SupremeFX S122A 8-Channel HD Audio codec. Rounding up this impressive features set are 2x M.2 ports and 4x SATA ports.
The Asus ROG Strix X570-I not only packs a great set of features in a compact size, but even offers overclocking potential with a great VRM design which blew me away.

Design & Build Quality: The X570 Taichi from ASRock has a stunning and aggressive design, with an all-black PCB and a mix of black and silver on the heatsinks. There are also three lighting zones that can be controlled by the ASRock Polychrome Sync software. Moreover, it showed me great build quality, particularly due to its metal backplate.
Performance: In my overclocking tests, the board did a stellar job with both memory and CPU overclocking all the while showing excellent VRM temperatures. For that, we can thank its 14-phase VRM design (50A each) and extensive heatsinks, plus its alloy chokes for providing stable VCore voltage.
Features & Connectivity: It supports DDR4 frequencies up to 4400 MHz. The storage and expansion front particularly impressed me: we get 8x SATA 3.0 ports and 3x M.2 slots, along with 3x PCIe 4.0 x16 slots (3-way CrossFireX and Quad SLI supported). Other great features include BIOS Flashback and Full Spike Protection.
What Makes It The Best X570 Motherboard For Overclocking?
If you are after the best X570 Motherboard and looking to overclock, then there is no better option than the ASRock X570 Taichi. It features an innovative design, excellent VRMs and an array of features, including enthusiast ones like Nvidia Quad SLI support. Its slightly inconvenient design, with all the PCIe expansion cards needing to be removed to access the M.2 slots, was a letdown. But, don’t let this mild problem distract you from an overall great motherboard.
VRM Performance: 9.5/10 | Value: 7.5/10 |

Design & Build Quality: The Asus Prime X570-Pro offers a beautiful clean layout, with a design that immediately won me over. It features a white I/O shroud and chipset heatsink, and diagonal white stripes running through the board, and also shows exceptional build quality.
Performance: Its VRM features a powerful 12 phases with doublers to make the overclocking stable, and the heatsinks on the Mos and VSOC are heavy to keep the overclocking stable. I tried its 5-Way Optimization utility for overclocking but could only get 200MHz out of my Ryzen 9 3900X; decent enough.
Features & Connectivity: Asus has provided a rich set of connectors, including three PCI-Express 4.0 x1 and x16 slots (with SLI/CFX support), six SATA 3.0 ports, and two M.2 SATA connectors. The Realtek S1220A sound chip is quite good, and we also get an Intel Gigabit Ethernet network card.
The Asus Prime X570-Pro is not just a great-looking motherboard, but also offers impressive overclocking potential and superb connectivity. So, it will do a lot more than fulfilling your white-themed PC needs.

ASRock X570S Riptide
Best Budget X570 motherboard
Specifications – Form Factor: ATX | Memory Support: 4x DIMM slots, Dual channel DDR4 5000MHz (OC) max, 128GB | Storage: 2x M.2 slots, 6x SATA 3.0 Ports | USB Ports (Rear): 4 x USB 3.2 Gen 2 port(s)(3 x Type-A+1 x Type-C), 4 x USB 3.2 Gen 1 port(s) ,2 x USB 2.0 port(s)| Graphics: 1x HDMI port
Pros
- Great value for money
- No Noisy chipset fan
- Good thermals of VRM
Cons
- No Wifi
Design & Build Quality: Featuring a mix of grey, black, and silver, Asus’ X570S PG Riptide has a more simplistic aesthetic. Most of the PCB on the Riptide is exposed, but it’s not unattractive. It also maintains decent build quality, and I liked seeing the hint of RGB on this board, particularly on the chipset heatsink.
Performance: The Asus X570S Riptide has an 10-phase VRM (2 phases for the SoC), the CPU VCore counterpart being controlled by PWM doublers. Unfortunately, it barely leaves any overclocking room with the Ryzen 9 3900X, as the system crashed beyond 3.9GHz in my testing. The VRM heatsink did a good job though, peaking at 64°C.
Features & Connectivity: It has two M.2 PCIe 4.0 slots and six SATA ports, with RAID 0, 1, and 10 compatibility. There is support for DDR4-4000 memory up to 128 GB, and it features a Killer-based 2.5 GbE controller with Type-A and Type-C USB 3.2 G2 connectivity and its mid-range HD audio codec showed good audio quality in my testing.

How We Chose The Best X570 Motherboards
Let us walk you through the steps we investigated before recommending these motherboards.
- VRM and Thermals: When choosing the best X570 motherboards, focus on VRM and thermals. A robust VRM ensures stable voltage distribution, crucial for component longevity and performance. Consider motherboards with sufficient PCB layers and heat sinks for optimal cooling. External cooling systems like water or fan coolers can further enhance thermal management.
- Form Factors: Motherboard Form Factors (most commonly ATX, micro ATX, and mini ITX) dictate dimensional size and cooling needs. ATX is the most common size, offering better airflow and lower temperatures due to its larger surface area. Smaller form factors like micro ATX or mini ITX require robust cooling solutions and matching cases for proper fit and cooling efficiency.
- Expansion Slots and Connectivity: Choose an X570 motherboard with sufficient expansion and connectivity slots to suit your needs. Ensure it has at least one x16 PCIe 3.0 or 4.0 slot for dedicated graphics, and look for various connectivity slots like USB, M.2, and SATA ports.
- Visual and Aesthetics: If you have found a motherboard that checks all your boxes, it’s time to consider the visuals. RGB or single LEDs on the motherboard are one way to improve your build aesthetically. Most AMD motherboards have a sleek and beautiful design, and getting lighting in them is not hard to achieve.
