Intel’s 600-series chipsets were initially launched to support their Alder Lake lineup, and now also support the Raptor Lake (13th and 14th gen) CPUs. The H670 chipset lies in second place in terms of features and price, focusing more on mid-to-high-range PC gamers that are not interested in CPU overclocking. If you belong in that section and are looking to get an H670 board for your build, then this guide is for you; I tested a plethora of H670 motherboards and picked out my TOP 5 options.

Design & Build Quality: ASUS Prime H670-PLUS D4 is a stunning ATX Form factor motherboard with a minimalistic design. It has a black PCB with white stripes going through it, and I am almost shocked by how good this looked. We also get heatsinks with a beautiful silver finish, along with a solid build quality.

Performance: Talking about VRM design, the ASUS Prime H670-PLUS D4 motherboard has a DIGI+ VRM design with 8 power stages. 8-pin solid pin ProCool connector power the CPUs. What Makes It The Best Value H670 Motherboard?

The general gist of the ASUS Prime H670-PLUS D4 motherboard is quite mediocre. It isn’t the best in class at any specific feature. You can call it an allrounder. It is the Best Value H670 Motherboard for a reason as it provides almost all the features at a fair price! It’s suitable for gamers on a budget.

Buy It If

✅ You’re on a budget: It offers a great set of features at a very budget rate.

✅ You need plenty of USB ports: The rear I/O offers 11 different USB 3.2 ports.

What Makes It The Best Budget H670 Motherboard?

The ASRock H670 PG Riptide is a great performing motherboard with amazing features like PCIe 5.0 x16 support, 3x M.2 slots, and an abundance of USB 3.2 ports with the affordability tag to stamp all features up. There are some things I disliked, too, like the lack of WiFi and Bluetooth support and weak power phase, but it’s still a great choice in the H760 category and is the Best Budget H670 Motherboard in my opinion.

ASRock H670M-ITX/ax

Specifications = “Chipset: H670 Chipset | CPU Socket: LGA1700 | Form Factor: Mini-ITX | Memory Support: 2 DIMM slots, Dual channel DDR4 5000MHz (OC) max, 64GB | Storage: 1x M.2 Gen4 x4 slots, 1x M.2 Gen4 x4/SATA3.0 slot and 4x SATA 3.0 Ports | USB Ports: 1x USB 3.2 Gen 2×2 port (Type-C), 2x USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports (1 Type-C), 3x USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports (1 Type-C) and 6x USB 2.0 ports | Graphics: 1x DisplayPort 1.4 and 1x HDMI 2.1

Pros

  • An ideal VRM like 8 Phase DrMOS Power Design, compared to form factor
  • Inclusion of PCIe 5.0
  • Supports DDR4 Memory at 5000MHz

Cons

  • No VRM heatsinks

Design & Build Quality: The ASRock H670M-ITX/ax is another board with a black-and-white design, with its black PCB and white heatsinks presenting a clean look. Other than that, it doesn’t have much going for it as there are no aggressive design elements or RGB. It features an 8-layer PCB design, showing durable build quality.

Performance: ASRock has gone with an 8-layer PCB design for great thermal dispersion, and is powered by an 8-Phase 50A DrMOS Power Design VRM, perfect for this size, that I tested with the i5-13400F. The addition of premium-grade chokes and Nichicon 12K ensured further stability.

Features & Connectivity: The motherboard supports up to 64GB of DDR4 at 5000MHz, which impressed me considering its form factor. It sports one M.2 Gen4 x4 slot (can be used as a SATA 3.0 slot, too) and four SATA 3.0 Ports. We also get a good selection of USB ports and a high-end Realtek ALC897 Audio Codec.

WARNING: Lack of VRM cooling also means there will be limited room for memory overclocking.

Buy It If

✅ You need a powerful Mini-ITX motherboard: The ASRock H670M-ITX/ax offers strong specifications in a compact form factor.

Don’t Buy It If

❌ VRM cooling is a concern: It lacks a VRM heatsink and so at most, you should be looking to pair a non-K Core i7 with it.

What Makes It The Best Mini-ITX H670 Motherboard?

ASRock H670M-ITX/ax motherboard offers excellent specs at a smaller size and is priced quite adequately at around $140. You get a superior VRM design, PCIe 5.0 interface support, and DDR4 running at a whopping speed of 5000MHz jampacked inside a Mini-ITX board. Considering what a bomb ASRock H670M-ITX/ax motherboard is and compared to other contenders, I categorized it into the list as the Best Mini-ITX H670 Motherboard. However, try not to perform hardcore memory overclocking to be safer.

VRM Performance: 8/10 Value: 8.5/10
Features: 9/10 Design: 8/10

How We Chose The Best H670 Motherboard

Let’s look at some of the points that I considered before choosing the Best H670 Motherboards for you.

  • VRM and Thermals: When selecting the best H670 motherboards, prioritize VRM quality for stable performance, especially when you overclock. Look for motherboards with robust VRMs and built-in cooling features such as enlarged VRM and M.2 heatsinks to aid in heat dissipation, maintaining optimal temperatures and also consider the number of PCB layers.
  • Form Factor: Motherboards come in five form factors, ATX, EATX (Extended ATX), XL-ATX, Micro-ATX, and Mini-ITX. Before purchasing a motherboard, check your PC case’s compatible motherboard size, which will help you lay down your options clearly and help you make an accurate purchase.
  • USB Connectivity and Expansion Slots: Motherboards have different expansion slots like PCIe 4.0 x16 or PCIe 5.0 x16. Ensure that the components you own or any you’re to buy should be able to support PCIe 4.0 or PCIe 5.0 speeds to get full support. The same is the case with USB ports. Check if your peripheral devices can support the latest USB 3.2 generations or not, and then make a firm decision.
  • Looks and Aesthetics: In the end, you consider aesthetics. If you have a glass PC case, you can understand the importance of this point. The motherboard you will be buying should suit your visual appeal and match the theming you desire to accomplish. Check the PCB and heatsinks colour combination alongside RGB support if you’re an RGB lover.
