Lian Li GA-II Lite 360 Performance Review: Cooling Champion On A Budget

I am taking a look at the Lian Li GA-II Lite 360 Performance liquid cooler in this review. This series of coolers is available in 240mm and 360mm sizes. There are also two variants: ARGB and Black, named RB and PB, respectively. This naming convention comes from the RGB and PBT fans used in both variants.

I have the GA2L36PB, which is the non-RGB 360mm version. This cooler is compatible with Intel LGA 1700/1851 and AMD AM4/AM5 sockets. Lian Li focuses only on the latest sockets with modern cooling solutions, which makes sense.

  • 1x Safety Paper

Design

Let’s take a look at the unit.

Radiator

Lian Li has pre-installed the 28mm thick fans over the radiator. The sides of these fans are concealed using removable and replaceable (optional) covers. Since these are non-RGB fans, each fan has a small length cable running on one side of the frame. You can purchase the side ARGB kit (P28ARGB-B/W) separately to add a sophisticated RGB look to the GA II Lite.

Lian-Li-GA-II-Lite-360-Performance-Radiator

A third fan has an extension PWM cable. This is the only cable coming out of the fan assembly for connectivity with the motherboard.

Lian-Li-GA-II-Lite-360-Performance-Radiator

This cooler has a 360mm radiator. It is made of aluminum material and has an overall dimension of 397x120x55mm, including fans.

The assembly has 12 channels for coolant flow with an FPI count of 20. The gap between the two opposite ends holes on the main frame is 105mm. Overall build quality is satisfactory, and I did not observe any bent or broken fins.

Lian-Li-GA-II-Lite-360-Performance-Radiator

The connection side of the radiator has a sticker showing the serial number of the unit. There is a third port that is covered. It is reserved for factory use, probably for refilling or something. Don’t tamper with it, as you might lose the vacuum pressure of the loop.

Lian-Li-GA-II-Lite-360-Performance-Radiator

The side frame of the radiator housing has no branding. The far block is less thick than the near block. The fans have more height compared to the radiator. Lian Li uses a rubber tube with a nylon braided mesh sleeve. These tubes have a length of 400mm, and they are somewhat flexible.

Block

Lian-Li-GA-II-Lite-360-Performance-Block-Main-View

Lian Li has retained the circular design with the same outfit as we have seen on previous generations of Galahad coolers. The housing measures 76x76x67mm. The upper portion has a thick frosted diffuser, whereas the lower portion is matte black finished.

You can see a universal mounting bracket pre-installed on the block. It makes the life of the user easy, as you only have to deal with one bracket for all supported sockets.

The top of the block has a glass design. It features an infinity mirror design. The central lid is removable and can be placed in any of four directions (in rotation). This makes it convenient for the user since the Lain Li text will remain upright regardless of the orientation. The ARGB backlighting is done via 16 ARGB LEDs under the pump cap.

Speaking of the orientation, Lian Li has suggested installing the block so that the tubes face down or face the PCI slot of the motherboard. This is probably done to better align the cold plate with the CPU die for effective heat dissipation. This reminds me of the DeepCool LT720/520 coolers.

Lian-Li-GA-II-Lite-360-Performance-Block-Rear-View

The rear of the block has 90ᵒ fittings on which the tubes are attached. This gives you the flexibility to adjust the tubes to some extent as per the requirement. Two single flat cables come out of the housing.

Lian-Li-GA-II-Lite-360-Performance-Block-ARGB-Connectors

The pump is regulated using a 4-pin PWM connector. The pump is rated for 3800 RPM speed. With this speed, the GA-II Lite provides powerful cooling for efficient thermal management. According to Lian Li, this pump runs 3 dBA lower and 2.5ᵒC colder than the GA II LCD.  The other connector is 5V, 3-Pin A-RGB for the A-RGB LEDs.

Lian-Li-GA-II-Lite-360-Performance-Block-Base

The cooler has a copper base. There is a protective sticker pasted over the base. Don’t forget to peel it off.

Fans

Lian-Li-GA-II-Lite-360-Performance-Fan-Top-View

Lian Li has provided 124x120x28 mm-sized fans on this edition of the cooler. These are non-RGB black fans featuring 7 blades with a striped design. You can see the Lian Li branding in the center. The main housing has a circular design, but the covers on all sides give it a square look.

The anti-vibration pads have holes in which the screws sit flush with the pads’ level, hence we don’t need to account for the screw heads in the total height of the cooler. The cable running on the side of the fan internally uses a proprietary connector and socket.

Lian-Li-GA-II-Lite-360-Performance-Fan-Back-View

You can see a four-arm assembly on the backside of the fan. Three arms have a curved layout, providing a focused flow for the air coming through the fan. One arm is flat and catches wires coming out of the center. Each fan is rated for 0.27A at 12VDC. The power consumption is 3.24W. You can safely use 3x fans on a single fan header rated for 12W (1A at 12VDC).

Lian-Li-GA-II-Lite-360-Performance-Block-PWM-Connector

Each fan is regulated via a 4-pin PWM connector.

Installation

Lian-Li-GA-II-Lite-360-Performance-Test-Setup

The cooler is tested on an MSI MEG Z790 ACE MAX motherboard using an Intel Core i7 13700k. The installation steps include:

  • Peel off the protective covers from the self-adhesive tapes of the bracket.
  • Place the backplate on the motherboard’s backside.
  • Use the spacers to secure the backplate on the motherboard.
  • Apply thermal paste on the CPU.
  • Remove the protective cover from the base of the cooler.
  • Place the block on the CPU, aligning the screws on the bracket with the threads of the screws.
  • Start tightening the screws diagonally until the threads run out.
  • Install the radiator assembly in the PC case.
  • Connect the ARGB cable to the motherboard.
  • Connect a 4-pin PWM connector cable from the Pump to the water_pump or AIO_pump header of the motherboard.
  • Connect the fans to the 4-pin PWM header on the motherboard.
  • Installation is completed.

Clearance

This cooler has a dimension of 397x120x55mm with fans. Make sure your PC Case supports this dimension.

A-RGB Lighting

This cooler uses a standard 5V, 3-Pin A-RGB connector on the pump housing, making it compatible with RGB sync technology of motherboard manufacturers, including:

  • ASUS Aura Sync
  • ASROCK-Polychrome Sync
  • GIGABYTE RGB Fusion 2.0
  • MSI Mystic Light Sync

The cooler is tested on the MSI MEG Z790 ACE MAX WiFi motherboard, and it was responding well to the changes in the Mystic Sync app.

Performance Benchmarks

Lian-Li-GA-II-Lite-360-Performance-Thermal-Performance

Lian Li GA-II Lite 360 Performance has performed admirably well, achieving 84ᵒC, which is competitive with high-priced solutions from the market, making it a better buy at its retail price tag of USD 104.90. The noise of the fans is somewhat elevated, which you can easily cover using a custom fan curve or Auto PWM function.

Should You Buy It?

Buy It If

You’re after a high-performance cooler: Lian Li GA-II Lite 360 Performance offers a top-notch thermal performance in its class.

You love minimalistic lighting: This cooler is a perfect blend of a black theme with minimalistic A-RGB lighting. You can even turn the lighting off to enjoy a full classy look of this cooler.

You want good value: This cooler, while costing significantly less, offers a top-class performance, making it the best value for your bucks.

Don’t Buy It If

If you are still on LGA115x/LGA20XX socket: This cooler is not compatible with previous Intel sockets like LGA15x/1200/20xx. Skip it if you are on this socket.

Conclusion

The Lian Li GA-II 360 Performance has been evaluated on our Intel test bench, and this cooler delivers solid performance at a pocket-friendly price. It is available in 240mm and 360mm sizes, with both RGB and non-RGB editions.

The cooler features an aluminum radiator measuring 397x120x27mm without the fans. It is compatible with Intel LGA 1700/1851 and AMD AM4/AM5 sockets only. The unit comes with nylon-braided, sleeved rubber tubes that are 400mm in length. In my opinion, this length should be increased to at least 420mm.

The pump is rated for 3800 RPM and is PWM-regulated, making it a powerhouse for taming high temperatures. The block retains the same footprint as seen on previous Galahad generations. The pump top features a large diffuser with 16 ARGB LEDs, and the top cover can be removed and rotated for proper alignment.

This cooler comes with three non-RGB black fans, pre-installed with their sides covered for a unified look. They are rated for up to 2500 RPM, generating 73.14 CFM airflow at an impressive 5 mmH²O static pressure with a sound level of 29.8 dBA.

Installation is straightforward and requires five components for Intel platforms, thanks to the streamlined mounting kit. The thermal paste applicator is another plus and reminds me of the Cooler Master Atmos cooler.

This cooler is priced at USD 104.90, and Lian Li offers a 6-year warranty. The thermal performance is excellent for this price range and warranty period, giving Lian Li an edge over the competition

Latest Windows 11 Security Update Is Reportedly Bricking Some SSDs And Hard Drives

Story Highlight
  • New report reveals that Windows 11’s latest security update, ‘KB5063878’, is causing some SSDs and HDDs to fail.
  • The issue occurs with a large number of writing sequences happening on the drive.
  • Not all SSDs are facing this issue, but the ones with Phison controllers are the most exposed.

Windows 11 has received a new security update that users may want to skip. The update titled ‘KB5063878’ is reportedly causing several SSDs and HDDs to brick after a considerable amount of data is being written on them.

User Nekorusukii on X reported an SSD failure while updating Cyberpunk 2077 on his system. According to the user, he had just installed the Windows 11 security update a few days prior.

Why it matters: Windows 11 has been a bumpy ride, and just when it was starting to stabilize, a massive drive failure issue has occurred. Users risk losing valuable data and their entire drives due to this security update.

User Testing The Cause Of Drive Failure That Resulted From The Recent Update. || Source: X

As per Nekorusukii’s testing, this failure can be replicated once with the SSDs having a 60% usage rate or 50 GB of continuous writing.

After a prolonged period of writing, the OS apparently stops recognizing the SSD. Rebooting temporarily resolves the issue, but the problem recurs with similar write activity. In some cases, though, restarting completely loses the drive

Moreover, this problem isn’t just exclusive to SSDs; it happens on HDDs, too. Nekorusukii has also revealed that SSDs with Phison controllers onboard are the most likely to suffer from failures.

Fortunately, not all SSDs are exposed to this issue, but only specific models. NichePCGamer compiled a list of SSDs that exhibit failures, which are:

At the time of writing, neither Microsoft nor SSD manufacturers has acknowledged the issue. It is not being widely reported by users either.

As such, we advise users to avoid prolonged writing sequences on the drives mentioned above until Microsoft or the drive manufacturers develop a solution.

Five Years Later, Cyberpunk 2077 Remains In Steam’s Top 3 Best Sellers

Story Highlight
  • Cyberpunk 2077 is currently at a 65% discount, and thanks to that, it is one of the best sellers on Steam.
  • The game is currently sitting in the second position on Steam while its DLC is at the sixth spot.
  • The 24-hour peak has also been increased to over 74K, which is pretty impressive for a five-year-old game.

Cyberpunk 2077 is arguably one of the best video games out there. The game’s launch was rocky, really rocky, but that didn’t kill the developers’ morale, and they worked hard to make it a game everyone could enjoy.

Over time, the game’s condition steadily improved, and following the 2.0 update, its performance saw a major boost. The improvements were so significant that many fans argued that if it had launched in this state, it could have easily won Game of the Year. Now, five years later, it stays in the top three best sellers on Steam.

Why it matters: Cyberpunk 2077 remains so good that, even five years after its release, thousands of players continue to buy it.

Cyberpunk 2077 Second Best Seller
Cyberpunk 2077 Is Currently the Best Seller on Steam.

The game is currently sitting at the second spot on Steam’s best-seller list for paid games, which is a massive accomplishment. This success is primarily due to a generous 65% discount.

If you haven’t tried it yet, now is the perfect time, but even at full price, the game delivers more than enough value; some would even argue it offers more than it costs.

Peak is currently holding the number one spot, with Battlefield 6 in third place. At number six sits Cyberpunk 2077’s expansion, Phantom Liberty, widely regarded as one of the best DLCs ever released, if not the very best.

Fans have widely praised the game, largely thanks to its exceptional open-world experience that few others can match. It currently holds a Mostly Positive rating on Steam with nearly 900,000 reviews and has reached an all-time 24-hour peak of 74,500 players.

Cyberpunk-Sequel-First-Person-Mode-Only
CDPR won’t repeat the same mistakes it made with Cyberpunk 2077 in its sequel.

While the recent discount has certainly fueled its resurgence, numbers like these wouldn’t be possible if the game weren’t genuinely great to begin with.

What are your thoughts on Cyberpunk 2077 being the second-best seller on Steam? Have you played it? Share your thoughts with us in the comments section below or join the official Tech4Gamers forums for discussion

Bend Studio Was Leading Uncharted Revival Before Live Service Project

Story Highlight
  • Bend Studio has cancelled three unannounced games after it released Days Gone.
  • One of these projects involved working with Naughty Dog and was likely an Uncharted revival.
  • The game utilized Naughty Dog’s proprietary engine and included player cover as seen throughout the series.

Bend Studio recently cancelled its Unreal Engine 5-based live-service project, but this is not the first big game the team has cancelled. In fact, a total of three games have been cancelled by the studio since it launched Days Gone in 2019.

Among these projects, one marked a joint effort between Naughty Dog and Bend Studio, and there is reason to believe that both teams were attempting to revive Uncharted.

Why it matters: Fans have been calling for an Uncharted revival for a while now, citing The Last of Us fatigue following the IP’s constant re-releases.

Bend Studio Worked On Uncharted Revival
Bend Studio’s Cancelled Projects Point To Work On Uncharted Revival.

Software engineer Jeremy Koepke’s LinkedIn profile reveals a few interesting details about Bend Studio’s work over the last seven years.

According to his profile, the team worked on Days Gone 2 following the first game’s release. This project was later cancelled, and the team shifted its focus to working alongside Naughty Dog on an unannounced project.

Jeremy Koepke mentions that this project was scrapped, too, but it involved working on Naughty Dog’s proprietary engine. For context, this engine does not see much use, if any at all, outside of the studio’s own games.

Given Bend Studio’s past work on Uncharted Golden Abyss and rumors suggesting the team’s ongoing interest in the franchise as early as 2020, it is reasonable to believe that this unannounced project was a revival of the fan-favorite IP.

The LinkedIn profile also mentions player cover for this project, which may be a reference to the third-person cover mechanics featured throughout Uncharted.

Prison Fight In Uncharted 4
Uncharted 4 Still Holds Up To This Day.

While Bend Studios has since moved on, the project does suggest that PlayStation and Naughty Dog are interested in bringing Uncharted back. Perhaps PlayStation will attempt to revive the IP once again in the near future.

Would you have played another Uncharted game? Do you think PlayStation should bring the series back? Let’s discuss in the comments and on the Tech4Gamers forum.

PlayStation Now Tells You To Buy Its Games On Xbox To Promote Multiplatform Strategy

Story Highlight
  • PlayStation is now directly telling its users to buy the Xbox version by even providing links to the Xbox store.
  • This move highlights PlayStation’s multiplatform shift, signaling the end of console wars.
  • Many Xbox exclusives were launched on PlayStation, and PlayStation now plans to follow suit.

Xbox’s initial push towards a multiplatform approach was seen as highly controversial by the wider console community, but slowly, PlayStation has started to walk the same path. Now, Sony is set to launch PC ports 6 months after release moving forward, for example.

However, Sony has now gone as far as to tell its users to buy its games on Xbox in an attempt to promote its multiplatform strategy. The PlayStation page for Helldivers 2 is now asking players to buy the game on Xbox, surprising many users who were caught off guard.

Why it matters: Despite Sony’s more conservative take on the multiplatform approach, many recent decisions suggest that the company is going all-in like Xbox to spread its exclusive portfolio on other platforms.

The official PlayStation page now asks you to buy Helldivers 2 on Xbox.

One of the major reasons many users are upset is that PlayStation is even providing a link to the official Xbox store for Helldivers 2 on its PlayStation page. This heavy multiplatform push also nails the fact that console wars are truly over as we knew them.

Both Xbox and PlayStation are now promoting each other to gain a wider audience instead of earning loyalty from a smaller core player base.

Sony has been outwardly more reserved towards a multiplatform strategy to appease fans in the past, but it may be letting go of that approach over time.

Xbox Multiplatform
Many Xbox exclusives have also already arrived on PlayStation in the last few years.

This development also suggests we will see a similar approach for many of Sony’s other games that eventually start making their way to other platforms like Xbox.

Do you think PlayStation’s direct promotion of its games for Xbox suggests a complete shift in tone towards its multiplatform approach? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below, or join the discussion on the Tech4Gamers forum.

Dragon Age Veilguard Writer Appointed Senior Quest Designer at Bethesda

Story Highlight
  • Dragon Age Veilguard writer has joined Bethesda as a Senior Quest Designer.
  • The same writer is also credited for his work on Mass Effect Andromeda and Anthem.
  • John’s portfolio is a mixed bag, featuring some of the best and worst writing in video games.

What was left of BioWare has been plunged to rock bottom thanks to Dragon Age Veilguard, which ruined the reputation of one of the most beloved RPG series and one of the most prominent developer studios in the industry.

Most of the studio has been disbanded following such a failure. Now, one of the writers behind Dragon Age Veilguard has been hired at Bethesda as a Senior Quest Designer.

Why it matters: Dragon Age: Veilguard was a disaster, and if that energy is speculated to be brought into Bethesda games, the future of RPGs may be ruined.

john dombrow writer profile
Former BioWare Writer Now Hired At Bethesda. | Source: LinkedIn

John Dombrow was a Senior Writer/Narrative Designer at BioWare and helped craft Davrin’s story arc, Veil Jumper storyline, and a few other missions from the game. His other work for BioWare also includes co-leading writing on Mass Effect Andromeda and being credited as a senior writer for Anthem.

John’s BioWare experience may raise questions, but he’s also helped make some of the best-written games ever. His most recent work is for the upcoming Ghost of Yotei, while in the past, he has worked for Telltale Games, writing for Game of Thrones

Additionally, he was also a senior writer for BioShock Infinite: Burial at Sea DLC, which was one of the best expansions ever.

Dragon Age The Veilguard Gayming GOTY
Dragon Age Veilguard Won GOTY At The Gayming Awards 2025.

It is only a matter of receiving the right opportunity, which he may find at Bethesda. It’s unlikely they’ll hire a new writer for Starfield’s next DLC, which is probably nearly finished by now.

Moreover, Bethesda isn’t reportedly working on the next Fallout game. Given this, The Elder Scrolls 6 is the only option left. John has already shown love for the Elder Scrolls series and is a big Skyrim fan. As such, consider Elder Scrolls 6 to be in good hands.

An Original Rayman Remake Was Canceled in 2021, Former Ubisoft Employee Reveals

Story Highlight
  • A former Ubisoft employee revealed he was working on a Rayman remake before its cancellation in 2021.
  • The remake had two different titles: Rayman Forever and Story of Rayman.
  • The last mainline Rayman game was released in 2013, but a new game might be on the horizon.

Ubisoft faced its darkest years in the early 2020s, with the publisher canceling several million-dollar projects, laying off employees, and shutting down studios. There is a lot of good stuff at Ubisoft that could’ve been, and among them is the remake of the original Rayman game.

A remake of the first Rayman game, tentatively titled ‘Rayman: Forever’ and ‘The Story of Rayman,’ was under development at Ubisoft in 2021 before it was eventually scrapped.

Why it matters: It’s been quite a while since we last saw Rayman in a full-fledged release. A Rayman remake could certainly do well for Ubisoft in the publisher’s dark times, but alas.

rayman remake logo
Logos For The Canceled Rayman Remake Project || Source: X

Phong, a VFX artist who previously worked at Ubisoft, revealed that he was tasked with redesigning Rayman’s logo and home screen for a modern look. Under the aforementioned two titles, Phong curated a few logos for the game as seen above.

Unfortunately, the game was scrapped due to unknown reasons. An educated guess suggests that the project’s cancellation likely resulted from cost-cutting measures, given that 2021 wasn’t favorable for the once-renowned French publisher.

Still, it’s pretty unfortunate to see an IP like Rayman get this treatment. Newer audiences may not be familiar with Rayman, but it was the first flagship franchise by Ubisoft and is the reason why the publisher is so prominent today.

Ubisoft Stock Down By Over 45%
Ubisoft Stock Down By Almost 90% In The Last 5 Years

Rayman Legends was released in 2013, and fans have been eagerly awaiting a new entry since then. Fortunately, a new game is under discussion at Ubisoft, as confirmed by the publisher itself.

It would still take a few years to be released, and by now, we would have already had the Rayman remake if the project had not been canceled.

Would you have loved a Rayman remake? Let us know your thoughts on the project being canceled in the comments or at the official Tech4Gamers Forums.

62% of Total Battlefield 6 Wishlists Are Reportedly From Call of Duty Players

Story Highlight
  • Over 800,000 players have already pre-ordered Battlefield 6 almost 2 months before launch.
  • The game has also reached almost 2.7 million wishlists.
  • Among them, according to a report, 62% of the wishlists come from Call of Duty players.

It is fair to say that EA has convinced fans that the Battlefield franchise is finally returning to its roots with the upcoming installment. The multiplayer trailer set high expectations, and the beta managed to surpass them.

For context, over 800,000 players have already pre-ordered the game on Steam alone, highlighting just how successful the beta proved to be. Considering other platforms, the total number of pre-orders is likely far higher.

That said, Activision said it isn’t worried about Battlefield 6, even though a report has revealed that 62% of its wishlists come from Call of Duty players.

Why it matters: Former Blizzard president claimed the next Battlefield will “boot stomp” Call of Duty, forcing it to improve after years of decline.

Alinea Analytics Report
Alinea Analytics Has Reported that Battlefield 6 Has Been Wishlisted By 2.7 Million Players.

According to analyst firm Alinea Analytics, 62% of Call of Duty players have wishlisted the game. Among total wishlisters, 48% also own Battlefield 2042, 33% have played Helldivers 2, and 27% have played Delta Force.

Moreover, the game has surpassed 2.7 million wishlists, with around 1.67 million of these coming from Call of Duty players. On the other hand, Activision recently said that it doesn’t consider Battlefield 6 a threat.

The higher-ups said that Call of Duty is too big to die, so they aren’t worried at all. However, just Battlefield 6’s beta managed to shatter the all-time high peak of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6. Also, the game is on track to have 1 million pre-orders, almost two months before launch.

Battlefield 6
Battlefield 6 Prioritizes Fun And Balance Over Realism.

It seems Activision may have something to worry about, as much of its player base appears to be looking forward to the upcoming Battlefield. Though surprising, the figures are unconfirmed and analyses can be flawed, so fans should take them with a pinch of salt.

Some concerns were raised by fans after the beta, with the main issue being Secure Boot. The developer has acknowledged the feedback and promised improvements, though it seems unlikely that Secure Boot will be removed entirely.

Fairgames Has Reportedly Been Canceled, Amid Sony’s Major Focus on Live-Service Model

Update: DestinLegarie has confirmed, after speaking with Michael Patcher, that there is no information on whether the game has been canceled. It seems like Patcher mispoke.

I misspoke. Said Jade was let go, and assumed it was cancelled. I have no info on the game at all. Feel free to quote this, I truly don’t know.

-Michael Pachter

Original Story:

Story Highlight
  • Sony announced Fairgames, a live-service title, in 2023.
  • Since its reveal, the company has remained silent, fueling speculation of cancellation.
  • An insider now reports that the game has indeed been canceled, despite Sony’s recent commitment to expanding its live-service portfolio.

Fairgames was announced back in 2023, but little has been heard about the project since then. After the colossal failure of Concord, which had once been positioned as the future of PlayStation, Sony decided to shelve many of its live-service titles.

The company ultimately canceled more than half of these projects, though it has maintained its commitment to the model. Sony has admitted that the approach has been difficult so far, but it remains optimistic due to standout successes like Helldivers 2.

According to a new insider report, Fairgames has now been canceled as well.

Why it matters: Sony is best known for its strong single-player games, and many believe it should focus on that strength. Live-service titles can succeed, but making them a major priority risks harming what sets PlayStation apart.

Fairgames was unveiled at the 2023 PlayStation Showcase by Haven Studios as a competitive, PvP-focused heist shooter. However, since its reveal, both the developer and Sony have remained silent, with no trailers, updates, or release window shared.

Some reports previously suggested that the game had been delayed to 2026, but now a new report has surfaced online. The latest report reveals that it has joined Sony’s canceled games roster.

Michael Patcher, a high-profile gaming research analyst, reveals in a YouTube video that Fairgames has been canceled. He said that Sony turned all of its console developers into live-service developers, which caused turmoil, resulting in Concord and its studio being shut down.

GPD Win 5 Revealed: The Most Powerful Handheld Yet With RTX 4060-Level Performance

Story Highlight
  • The GPD Win 5 has been released as the most powerful gaming handheld on the market.
  • It is the first handheld device based on Strix Halo and features a GPU that delivers performance comparable to the RTX 4060 mobile.
  • The handheld weighs around 1 kilogram with the detachable 80Wh battery on.

Every year, the handheld market continues to see exciting changes with newer hardware packing more power each time. GPD, a pioneer in gaming handhelds, has unveiled GPD Win 5, poised to become the most powerful handheld on the market.

The GPD Win 5 is the first handheld to be equipped with the AMD Ryzen AI Max 395 “Strix Halo” alongside the Radeon 8060S GPU that delivers a performance equivalent to the RTX 4060.

Why it matters: The handheld market is becoming more competitive and is the future of gaming. It’s exciting to see how much power can be packed in these small machines, and gaming on the go has never looked so appealing.

The GPD Win 5 is the first Strix Halo-based handheld, one of the most powerful APUs right now. The AMD Ryzen AI Max 395 configuration features 16 Zen 5 cores, 40 CUs, with a TDP of 55-75W

The handheld device will be available in three memory options: 32GB, 64GB, and 128GB of LPDDR5X memory at 8000 MT/s. It will also offer storage capacities of 1TB, 2TB, and up to 4TB of M.2 storage.

The GPD Win 5 comes with a mini SSD and a Micro SD slot for additional storage. Moreover, it features 2 Type-C ports, 1 USB 3.2 Gen 2, 1 USB 4.0, a 3.5mm audio jack, WiFi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, and hall-effect joysticks.

The GPD Win 5 is also the first handheld in its series not to feature a keyboard.

Even with all these beefy specs, the display is limited to a 7-inch 1080p IPS screen with a 120Hz refresh rate. To compensate for all this power, the GPD Win 5 features a detachable 80Wh battery, which will make the handheld weigh around 915 grams, almost a kilogram.

As such, a 180W charger is also shipped alongside, which the company is referring to as a PSU.

Although the GPD Win 5 is now live on the official website, its price remains undisclosed. Still, expect it to cost around the $2000 range, considering all these specs.

Ninja Theory Considers Hellblade 2 One of The Best Reasons To Buy PS5 Pro

Story Highlight
  • Hellblade 2 is best played on PS5 Pro for console players.
  • Ninja Theory seems to agree that the game makes a strong case for a PlayStation purchase, leading to mixed reactions.
  • Fans find it ironic that an Xbox game is a strong reason to buy a PS5 Pro.

Hellblade 2 launched last year as an Xbox Series S|X exclusive, but the game has since made its way to the PS5. This platform also supports 60FPS gameplay for one of Unreal Engine 5’s most ambitious showcases, with the PS5 Pro pushing the resolution and visuals to new heights.

In fact, Ninja Theory even seems to believe that Hellblade 2 makes a strong case for a PS5 Pro purchase.

Why it matters: Hellblade 2 launched as a more complete game on PlayStation than Xbox, offering 60FPS from the beginning on the former.

Over on Twitter, Ninja Theory recently shared an interesting statement from one of Hellblade 2’s PS5 reviews, which comes from the outlet PlayStation Lifestyle.

One of the best reasons to own a PS5 Pro.

For context, the PS5 Pro offers various improvements over the base consoles. In addition to PSSR support, the game runs at an average resolution of 1696p at 30FPS and 1166p at 60FPS.

These figures mark notable improvements over the base PS5 and Xbox Series X versions. Elsewhere, elements like shadows see an improvement in the PS5 Pro version, closely matching the base console’s quality mode settings in performance mode.

However, the interesting part here is that Xbox and Microsoft own Ninja Theory, and some fans saw this repost as the team promoting PlayStation hardware. Many have even pointed out the irony in an Xbox game being one of the best reasons to own a PS5 Pro.

In the past, the team also referred to Hellblade 2’s PS5 release as feeling like coming home. Ninja Theory clearly appears to be pleased with the game’s release on PlayStation, but fan reactions have been more mixed.

Xbox’s new third-party focus means that this may not be the last time one of its studios advertises a PlayStation platform for its games.

Moving forward, the likes of Gears of War: E-Day are expected on the PS5, and if Hellblade 2 is any indication, The Coalition’s Unreal Engine 5-based title should prove to be yet another strong showcase for the PS5 Pro.
