Xbox President Declares Exclusives To Be Outdated Following Multiplatform Shift

Story Highlight
  • Xbox president Sarah Bond says that the industry has moved beyond the concept of exclusives.
  • She points to games like Call of Duty and Fortnite as examples of multiplatform releases being the dominant forces today.
  • Future Xbox consoles are expected to go all in on a multiplatform strategy following this approach.

Xbox has completely shifted its approach to the gaming industry over the last year or two. In addition to making consoles and Game Pass more expensive, the gaming giant has practically abandoned the idea of exclusives altogether.

Moreover, Microsoft has delved further into the world of OEMs with the release of the ROG Xbox Ally. In a recent interview, Xbox president Sarah Bond discussed this strategy further, dubbing the concept of exclusives antiquated.

Why it matters: Both PlayStation and Nintendo still focus on exclusivity, albeit to a lesser extent. It seems Xbox, on the other hand, has completely given up on the idea.

When asked about the future of potential Xbox exclusives, Sarah Bond noted that the biggest games today are available across all platforms. She believes that people have evolved past the concept of games being tied to a particular system.

As examples, she highlighted games like Minecraft, Call of Duty, Fortnite, and Roblox. According to Sarah Bond, Xbox is leaning into the idea of making games available to people across a variety of devices.

She also went on to say that options like Cloud gaming, PC, and consoles open a slew of new possibilities in the gaming world. This is why Sarah Bond believes exclusives are antiquated at this point.

The idea of locking it to one store or device is antiquated for most people.

This statement is interesting since Xbox is still making a premium console for the next generation, one that will presumably have next to no exclusive content.

Like Xbox, PlayStation has pushed for more frequent PC releases recently. However, the gaming giant is still moving forward with a hybrid strategy involving console exclusives.

Halo Is Expected To Show Up On PlayStation Soon

Most recently, the gaming giant released exclusives like Ghost of Yotei and Death Stranding 2. Nintendo also remains committed to exclusives, staying true to the roots of distinct console experiences.

Aya and Bayek VAs Are Back in the Studio, Sparking Hopes for an AC Origins Sequel

Story Highlight
  • The voice actors for Bayek and Aya were seen in a studio together with motion capture equipment.
  • They may be working on something relating to Assassin’s Creed Origins, perhaps a continuation of the game.
  • Previously, the voice actor of Bayek expressed interest in reprising the character for a sequel.

Ever since the Assassin’s Creed series transitioned to full RPG mode, there has been a debate about which entry best nails these elements. Most would agree that Assassin’s Creed Origins, the entry that introduced the RPG elements in the first place, is the best one thus far.

As such, fans have been yearning for a continuation of the game. Fortunately, their wish might even come true as Bayek and Aya’s voice actors were seen in the studio together, sparking hope that a sequel or something related to the game might be in the works.

Why it matters: Bayek and Aya’s arc can be considered one of the best in the series, and despite their story being completed in Assassin’s Creed Origins, there’s so much that could be explored, whether it’s earlier in their life or after the events of the game.

Bayek And Aya Voice Actors Reunited || X

In a new social media post, Abubakar Salim, the voice actor for Bayek, shared a selfie of himself and Alix Wilton Regan wearing motion capture gear in a studio. These are all the signs fans would need to know that they’re working on something related to the game.

In the past, Kassandra from Assassin’s Creed Odyssey has also appeared in Valhalla, and Bayek and Aya reprising their roles doesn’t seem impossible. Whether it’s for a new DLC expansion or a separate entry, one could only speculate for now.

Bayek Is One Of The Best Written Protagonists In The Series

Previously, Abubakar Salim has expressed his interest in revisiting the character for an Assassin’s Creed Origins sequel. However, his vision is for Bayek to visit Greece instead of Egypt, which might not be possible since Assassin’s Creed Odyssey already took place in that setting.

That said, Abubakar also owns a studio himself, so this collaboration might be for a completely different project, but that remains to be seen.

Black Myth: Wukong Has Been Cracked By A Hacker – Chooses Not To Release It

Story Highlight
  • A hacker reveals that they have cracked Black Myth: Wukong after a lot of effort.
  • They won’t be releasing the crack for safety and legal reasons, as their identity isn’t hidden.
  • But they have revealed the open source tools used, so others can try as well.

Pirating has been a huge problem in the industry since the beginning of time. Software like Denuvo is used to make sure games are safe from piracy, but somehow hackers find a way around that as well, and a new title has fallen prey to it.

A hacker has revealed that they have successfully bypassed the Denuvo protection on Black Myth: Wukong and cracked the title, but he says that it won’t be released to the public due to safety and legal concerns.

Why it matters: The Chinese RPG was released over a year ago and has gone without being cracked; however, it has finally lost the battle and has now been pirated.

Black Myth Cracked
Black Myth: Wukong has been cracked for almost a year since its release

Taking to X, hacker Maurice Heumann revealed that in the past weeks, he managed to crack Black Myth: Wukong with the help of Sogen and other techniques, suggesting that even the best of protections can be broken.

Heumann says that he won’t be releasing the title to the public due to safety reasons, but all the tools that he used are open source, so others can also try. This makes sense, considering most pirates hide their identities.

Black Myth has sold a whopping 25 million units so far

Nevertheless, piracy isn’t something we support. The developers pour their hearts and souls into the development, and they deserve credit. Black Myth especially deserves it, as it has already sold over 25 million units.

The Division Dev Announces Layoffs, 2nd Ubisoft Studio To “Restructure” After Tencent Investment

Story Highlight
  • Massive Entertainment, developer of The Division, has announced it’s laying off some staff.
  • This is the second studio to go through restructuring following Ubisoft’s partnership with Tecncent.
  • Massive Entertainment is still committed to The Division 3, which is in development.

Ubisoft is responsible for some of the most important video games in the medium’s history, but the French publisher is far from its peak currently. The stock price of the company has fallen 90% in just 5 years, and the situation was so dire that Tencent had to invest to give Ubisoft a future.

The gaming giant has handed over control of its biggest IPs to Tencent and has been restructuring its own studios to decrease expenditure. And, unfortunately, another developer under the belt of Ubisoft has announced layoffs

Why This Matters: One of the biggest game publishers firing employees of two studios in one day is a bleak reflection of the industry.

Ubisoft Massive
Massive Entertainment’s statement on X.

Massive Entertainment, developer of The Division games and Star Wars Outlaws, published a statement on social media that it is going to lay off staff for long-term planning and to ensure its focus on The Division franchise.

In a statement, the studio said it will offer a career transition program to employees who have been fired, along with a package that includes financial assistance. And, despite this realignment of resources, Massive Entertainment is committed to delivering great experiences for gamers playing The Division titles.

The Division 3 was also mentioned in the statement, with the studio saying it’s committed to the project and will share more in the future. Hopefully, the title will not face the same fate as Division Heartlands, the free-to-play game in the franchise that was eventually canned.

The Studio’s Last Release Was A Major Flop

Massive Entertainment is also the second Ubisoft developer to confirm layoffs today, with the company’s Redlynx studio also cutting 60 jobs as it has shifted focus to small screens. This is part of the French publisher’s aim to reduce costs and improve efficiency so it can achieve sustainable success.

Following the Tencent partnership, the majority of Ubisoft employees were also concerned about their future at the company, stating that they felt excluded and unsafe. Their worst fear has come true, as the publisher has laid off employees on three different occasions since then.

Borderlands 4 Records Best Opening Sales Month In The Franchise Despite Mixed Reviews

Story Highlight
  • Borderlands 4 has recorded the best opening month sales in the series’ history.
  • It was also the best-selling game in September, beating Silent Hill f, FC 26, and more.
  • Gearbox’s title has now also become the 3rd best-selling game of 2025 so far.

Borderlands 4 launched with all sorts of optimization issues, no thanks to notorious Unreal Engine 5. Despite the flaws, beneath it is a brilliant title and one of the finest games in the franchise, and that shows from the sales data

New sales report reveals that Borderlands 4 recorded the best opening month in terms of sales for the franchise despite the initial negativity. However, the overall reviews still remain ‘Mixed’ due to the issues.

Why it matters: Even before the launch, the game got mixed up in a pricing controversy, which was later cleared, but post-release, even the bad optimization couldn’t hurt the sales much.

Borderlands 4 Sales
Borderlands 4 has recorded the best opening month in the franchise of all time

Mat Piscatella from Circana has confirmed that Borderlands 4 was the best-selling game for September, marking the biggest opening month of the franchise. It recorded 30% more sales than the previous record holder, Borderlands 3.

Borderlands 4 came out on top despite September being a stacked month for gaming. The releases included NBA 2K26, EA FC 26, Silent Hill f, and more, all of which appeared in the top 20 best sellers for the month.

Borderlands 4 New Peak
Borderlands 4 launched to a massive player base despite mixed reviews

However, despite this, the title has seen a dip in players as there seems to be less endgame material. Even most of the performance issues from the launch are still there, so Gearbox Entertainment has a lot of work to do

Anyhow, the sales numbers will be a good motivation for them, and fans will be hoping that this will lead them to fix the title. It is already on sale on Steam, so we can expect a sales boost yet again.

Konami Dev Strikes Back Against AI In Gaming; Says It Would Be Unable To Make Silent Hill F

Story Highlight
  • The Silent Hill series producer says AI cannot make a game like Silent Hill F.
  • He points to bold choices made by creative humans that would not be possible when working with AI.
  • The developer’s comments came in response to the notion that AI would handle remakes and sequels in the future.

AI has become a hot topic in the gaming industry, with multiple developers advocating for its use in the industry. Some, like Hideo Kojima, even propose AI be used for making sequels and remakes as opposed to new content.

Interestingly, Hideo Kojima’s statement garnered a response from the Silent Hill producer. The Konami developer believes AI cannot come up with a game like Silent Hill F.

Why it matters: The entire industry is pushing for the use of artificial intelligence, but many creatives are still against using this technology.

Silent Hill F Sold A Million Copies Quite Quickly

Silent Hill franchise producer Motoi Okamoto recently responded to a comment on Hideo Kojima’s original quote. This response noted that Hideo Kojima always strives to make new things, so his perspective on AI handling re-releases or sequels makes sense.

However, Moto Okamoto noted that a game like Silent Hill F would not fall in the same category. He pointed to bold challenges like pursuing a Japanese setting and working with a person like Ryukishi for the writing as things AI would not be able to replicate.

Ultimately, he believes there are things AI simply cannot replicate, and Silent Hill F is one of them.

Things like changing the story’s setting and to Japan or getting Ryukishi07 on board as a writer are the kind of choices AI would never be able to make.

Konami Is Going All In On The Franchise Now

Ultimately, Konami’s bold choices and decisions to portray survival horror in a different light with Silent Hill F have brought favorable results. The game has been praised by fans and critics alike, and the commercial performance is also quite impressive.

PS6 Is Going To Be Half The Price of Next-Gen Xbox, Its Claimed

Story Highlight
  • A new leak suggests that the price for the PS6 will be $600, half of the next-gen Xbox.
  • The next Xbox, rumored to be a console-PC hybrid, is reportedly expected to cost around $ 1,200.
  • This will change the market dynamics as Xbox will be up against PC rather than PS6.

The console market is set to make a huge shift with the release of next-gen consoles. Sony is rumored to be preparing both a home console and a handheld, while Xbox is expected to venture into a hybrid console-PC space for its next-generation console

Now, a reliable leaker has supposedly revealed the price tags of the upcoming generation, suggesting that the PS6 will cost half the price of the next-gen Xbox. From what he says, the Xbox is set to be prohibitively expensive.

Why it matters: If the upcoming Xbox is indeed a hybrid, it will undoubtedly cost a lot more than a regular home console, as it would be more powerful and compete in the PC market as well.

PS6 vs Xbox Price
Leaker suggests that PS6 will cost half the price of the Xbox Magnus.

Notable leaker Kepler was asked on X about the anticipated prices of the new consoles. He replied that the PS6 will cost $600, while the Xbox Magnus will double the price tag and cost a whopping $1200

He said the reason for the significantly inflated price includes the higher die cost, 42% more silicon, 20% more memory, and higher board and cooling costs. Also, they can’t subsidize the hardware with third-party store support.

Xbox Series X
The next Xbox is rumored to be a hybrid console costing around $1200.

If this is to be believed, Xbox will now be targeting a completely different market. Rather than competing against the PS6, it will go against full-fledged PCs. Xbox chief also confirmed that it will be a premium and high-end device

However, the price of the PS6 is also a question mark, considering the tariffs and price hikes. Nonetheless, if the Xbox turns out to be a hybrid, the PS6 is already a definitive choice for those with a limited budget

What are your thoughts on the next-gen Xbox price being double that of the PS6? Let us know your opinions in the comments or join the discussion at the official Tech4Gamers Forum.

Assassin’s Creed Invictus Multiplayer Title Loses Key Dev Following Series Revamp

Story Highlight
  • Ubisoft is currently working on Assassin’s Creed Invictus, a brand new, standalone multiplayer title.
  • Cedrick Duquette was leading the game’s development as Production Manager, but he has now departed Ubisoft Quebec.
  • This is one in a long list of high-profile developer departures from Ubisoft recently.

Ubisoft has been through a lot of turmoil recently, impacting many of its biggest IPs. Among those impacted, Assassin’s Creed seems to have seen the biggest changes, with the series recently losing its director.

Following the director’s departure, another key figure has confirmed plans to leave Ubisoft. This time, a major developer from the Assassin’s Creed Invictus team is set to leave the company.

Why it matters: Ubisoft recently created a new Tencent-led subsidiary to lead the Assassin’s Creed series. It seems this change has shaken up the fundamental structure of the French gaming giant’s teams.

Assassin's Creed Invictus Loses Production Manager

Cedrick Dequette worked at Ubisoft Quebec for a whopping 9 years, lending his talents to games like Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and Immortals Fenyx Rising.

Having begun his journey as a tester, the developer was leading production for Assassin’s Creed Invictus, serving as the Production Manager for the project until recently. Announcing his departure on LinkedIn, the developer also confirmed that he would share more on his future endeavors very soon.

This week marks the end of an important chapter: 9 years at Ubisoft Quebec.

-Cedrick Dequette

For context, this particular Assassin’s Creed project is a standalone multiplayer title. It is said to focus on a battle-royale-like experience, offering various modes, like deathmatch, free-for-all, and more.

Anyhow, the Production Manager’s exit could point to turmoil behind the scenes. Assassin’s Creed has never had too firm a grasp on multiplayer, flipping between PVP and co-op modes before dropping the online component altogether.

Because Assassin’s Creed Invictus marks a return to this format after many years, Ubisoft may be struggling to nail a direction for its upcoming release.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey
The Developer Worked On Games Like AC Odyssey In The Past

Of course, Cedrick Dequette isn’t the only developer to have left Ubisoft recently. We recently noted that Splinter Cell Remake appears to have lost its director, signalling a larger shift at the French company, with multiple high-profile developers departing in quick succession.

What do you think about Ubisoft’s current position? Be sure to discuss in the comments below and on the Tech4Gamers Forums.

CORSAIR AIR 5400 Launches with Innovative Triple-Chamber Layout

[Press Release] CORSAIR has launched the AIR 5400, a mid-tower PC case designed with a new triple-chamber layout that improves cooling and keeps builds cleaner. Inspired by the original AIR 540, this version separates the CPU, GPU, and power supply into their own sections, cutting down on heat and noise for better performance.

The front chamber houses the CPU and supports a 360mm liquid cooler, pulling in fresh air and pushing out heat quickly. This setup keeps components cool and running smoothly, even under heavy use.

To keep the GPU cool, the AIR 5400 includes dual airflow ducts and three reverse-rotor fans that direct air right where it’s needed. With 430mm of clearance, it fits even the largest graphics cards while maintaining steady airflow and temperature control.

The case comes in two models: an ARGB version with RS120-R fans and an iCUE LINK version with LX120-R fans and a System Hub for single-cable control. Both versions offer bright RGB lighting, quiet operation, and excellent cooling.

The glass panels open on hidden hinges for easy upgrades and a sleek look. Inside, the RapidRoute 2.0 system and nylon pass-throughs make cable management simple and tidy.

On top, the case includes three USB Type-C ports and a combo audio jack. Extra touches like a GPU anti-sag arm, reusable screw box, QuikTurn screws, and a microfiber cloth show CORSAIR’s focus on user-friendly design. Available in black and white, both models also include bottom intake fans for direct GPU cooling.

2025 Steam Data Shows 40% of Games Failed to Make Even $100

Story Highlight
  • Over 5000 Steam titles failed to make even $100 on the platform this year.
  • 65.9% titles were not able to gross over $1000, and only 8% made it to $100k.
  • Games in the lowest 30% by revenue grossed $37 in total.

Steam just recently hit a new concurrent peak of 41 million players in a busy October filled with successful new releases like Battlefield 6, which almost attained a million players on launch

2025 has seen many success stories on the platform, with titles like Hollow Knight: Silksong and Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 getting viral following positive reviews. However, not every game on Steam is making millions, and as it turns out, most are failing to turn up even $100 in profit.

Why it matters: Indie titles continue to struggle on Steam, with thousands going unnoticed each year and earning only pennies.

battlefield 6 steam
Battlefield 6 is selling like hotcakes on Steam.

According to research by Gamalytic, 40% of the total releases on Steam this year generated less than $100, which is the amount developers pay Valve to list a game on the platform. Hence, most passion projects by indie devs are failing to get off the mark.

According to estimates, over 13K titles have been released on Steam in 2025, meaning over 5000 games have failed to bring in even $100. In addition, 65.9% of Steam games this year made less than $1,000, while almost half of the platform’s 2025 library has sold less than 100 copies.

To further highlight the difference between the bottom and top half of developers, the games in the lowest 30% based on revenue made only $37 combined. Only 8% of the projects launched on the platform this year were able to make over $100K, which accounts for barely more than 1,000 titles.

Of course, it is not too surprising that games released by bigger studios tend to garner more revenue while indie developers are honing their craft through passion projects. But it’s still startling to see the number of indies that are basically invisible, especially when you consider the terrible wishlist conversion.

Steam Games Sales 2025
The Titles in the lowest 30% by revenue only made $37.

Gamalytic says that the results of this research aren’t 100% accurate, but even with a margin of error, the synthesis is still bleak.

How Elon Musk’s xAI Could Revolutionize Game Development

Story Highlights
  • xAI’s rumored game marks Elon Musk’s entry into the gaming industry.
  • Developers may benefit from AI-driven tools that will automate repetitive design tasks.
  • By making use of AI, potentially everyone could become a developer.
  • It may eliminate the value of the extensive hard work done by traditional game developers.

When Elon Musk first hinted at xAI making an AI-generated game, the tech and gaming industries were skeptical. Elon Musk is known for shaking up industries, Tesla redefining electric vehicles, or SpaceX pushing space exploration; it’s always pushing the boundaries with this man.

So, a tease from his AI company, xAI, developing a game is worth looking into. The game is set to be out by 2026, generating much excitement and curiosity.

AI is No Longer an Add-On

The idea of using AI in games isn’t new. If xAI’s game utilizes the same AI models that power Grok, we may see NPCs with real personalities, dynamic dialogue, and on-the-spot adaptability. The NPCs will be similar to real-life people; they will remember your past actions and will make strategies to defeat you. They may also be capable of emotionally reacting to your in-game choices in a way that is not scripted.

xAI

This interaction with NPCs could eliminate the “quest and reward” loop. It has been said that players will be able to experience evolving narratives. This will be done by genuine in-game conversations, not scripted and behavioral learning, that will make role-playing games feel alive.

Procedural Generation

The potential for using AI in games is virtually limitless. Games such as Minecraft and No Man’s Sky brought procedural generation to the forefront, but xAI may take it a step further. It will help create an environment that will respond to player style and emotional state, delivering an experience unlike before. This means that worlds may dynamically evolve based on how you play, not just through an algorithm.

Grok AI
Musk Introducing Grok AI – Image Credits (The AIGRID)

For developers, this would mean no repetitive design tasks and a high focus on creativity and game direction. Furthermore, the tools that xAI may provide will help small studios compete with AAA game producers, letting them create branching narratives and handle voice acting or asset creation.

Risk of Undermining Traditional Game Development

Game development has always been about people pouring passion into the development process. From writers creating captivating stories to artists designing each frame, every step has meaning. Now, while the above-mentioned innovations are exciting, there is a fear of what they might replace.

If AI were to start automating storytelling, character animations, and environmental design, it would diminish the value of human creativity. As a result of this, games will lose their soul and that which makes them unique storytelling mediums. In essence, these developments in game creation could, in turn, end up sidelining the very people who built its foundation.

Gaining Trust and Game Ethics

Musk’s involvement in this endeavor, however, raises some questions. The main broader goal of xAI is to develop AI systems that can learn and adapt endlessly, whilst being independent. In the gaming world, this could be exciting but is also unpredictable. I mean, what certainty do we have that the AI will remain fun, safe, and fair to players?

AI Powered Gaming
xAI Powered Gaming – Image Credits (Entrepreneur)

If a game were to learn without any bounds, it could become unbeatable or invasive. Developers thus must balance AI with immersion and control, ensuring that it enhances the player experience instead of taking over it. Musk’s track record on controversial decisions, such as self-driving cars and content moderation on X, suggests that the line may be thin.

Potentially Resetting the Industry

If xAI were to succeed in its mission, it would create a new era where “AI-first” games will become common. Instead of having a static script where every playthrough is the same, we may see dynamically reactive worlds and fluid storytelling. For developers, this is an opportunity to rethink creativity and try to make the best of this assistance from AI.

Now it is obvious that the game Elon Musk and his team will create won’t be able to compete with AAA games such as Black Ops 7 or Assassin’s Creed: Shadows, but it will redefine the industry. Whether this will be a success or a bold misstep is yet to be seen; however, it will certainly create a ripple across the gaming industry.

Cyberpunk Legends: Into The Night Spin-Off Game Surpasses $1 Million in Funding

Story Highlight
  • Cyberpunk Legends: Into The Night Kickstarter campaign has now raised $1 Million in funding.
  • The developers managed to exceed 1300% of the original goal, and there are still two days left in the campaign.
  • Tech4Gamers had the chance to interview the developers behind the game, revealing the creative process behind the project’s development.

Cyberpunk Legends: Into The Night is an upcoming Tabletop co-op strategic card game that will take players back to the beginning of the Cyberpunk timeline, all the way to 2012.

Developer Night Crew Games has been pouring their hearts into this passion project and recently started a Kickstarter campaign to raise $75,000 for the game’s development. Initially, the goal was met in just 20 minutes, but nearly a month later, the developers have managed to raise a whopping $1 million for the development.

Why it matters: Cyberpunk Legends: Into The Night has a lot of fans backing up the project, showcasing their love for the Cyberpunk universe.

Fans Showing Support For Night Crew Games

This is 1300% more than the original goal, and the funding campaign is still ongoing. With each milestone hit, the developers have been able to do something a little extra for the project. There are still 2 days left till the campaign ends, so if you’re willing to support this project, head over to their Kickstarter link.

Recently, we had the opportunity to speak with the developers behind the game about their thought process and creative vision for the upcoming co-op card game. Even if you’re not familiar with the Tabletop scene, it takes just 10 minutes to learn the game, and the entire process is relatively straightforward.

Fan favorites like Johnny Silverhand, Alt Cunningham, Kerry Eurodyne, Nomad Santiago, and others will appear with an entirely new look. Cyberpunk Legends has a jaw-dropping, unique art style and is one of the game’s main selling points.

There is no AI used in the creation of the project, and it is a passion project by the fans for the fans.

Whether you want to jump in with up to 4 friends or would prefer to play solo, Night City has a lot to offer, with years of replayability and future content promised. Even after you’re done with the narrative campaign, the roguelike deckbuilding mode will keep you hooked for a bit longer.
