Digital Foundry member Alex Battaglia revealed that the channel’s coverage of Xbox video games in 2025 barely garnered any views, even for titles they thought could draw the Xbox audience out.

Battaglia went on to say that it is getting harder to justify covering Xbox video games on Digital Foundry from a return-on-investment perspective, as the work they put into the videos isn’t translating into views.

Under his post, journalist Jez Corden amplified the same opinion, saying that his publication primarily covers Xbox and is targeted towards that player base. However, his content related to the Steam Deck gains more traffic than anything Xbox-oriented

Xbox is already in a financial mess, with its 2025 revenue falling by $113 million as its hardware declined by a whopping 29%. But, something worse than monetary ruin is irrelevance in the gaming community, and from the looks of it, the brand is getting there.

Recent PC games are forcing an uncomfortable conversation that many players hoped to avoid. After many years, there’s finally a Nioh game on the horizon. Nioh 3 launches February 6, 2026, and has much anticipation surrounding its release. This next chapter of Nioh from Team Ninja and Koei Tecmo will expand on everything fans love about the series. The game will launch for both PS5 and PC players through Steam. Releasing the game on both the PS and PC shows exactly how much the developers want this game to reach a wide audience from day one. 

What makes this game different is that instead of simply increasing the difficulty, it will be more reactive, flexible, and rewarding. Nioh 3 will also introduce new features, making gameplay much more exciting. Let’s dive right into why I am so excited for this upcoming game.

A Better Combat System

Combat has always been one of the main focuses of the Nioh franchise, and Nioh 3 doubles down on it. The game will be introducing a samurai-ninja stance change system. This means that players will be able to switch between traditional samurai katana playstyle and fast, stealthy ninja-like combat.

The game allows every fight to feel more dynamic, like how it does in Rise of Ronin. Instead of having players bound to one combat style, they can freely pick between the two. If one mission isn’t working as a samurai, switch to a ninja and vice versa. This brings flexibility to the gameplay, something which many players crave.

A Bigger And Better Story

Another major shift that we will see is in narrative scope. Nioh 3 will span multiple historical eras. This will introduce new settings, characters, and open a wider view into the supernatural world of Nioh. The early impressions of the game suggest that it will be more character-driven, cinematic, and will have a much deeper story than earlier games of the franchise.

The demo for the game will be released on January 29th. One of the most fan-favourite bits about the last game was a demo that actually contributed to the final game. In Nioh 3, Team Ninja is doing it again, but with a much bigger upgrade. Gamers who purchase the demo will be able to carry their progress into the full release.

What this means is that players with the demo can get ahead of the crowd with optimised builds and by having already mastered the stance-switch system. This instantly makes the demo feel as if it were part of the game and not just a disposable teaser.

Improved Co-op Experience

Team Ninja has expanded the co-op and multiplayer options to help players tackle the parts of the game with the most difficult encounters. While the Nioh franchise has always offered co-op, it felt secondary. In Nioh 3, however, the multiplayer experience will finally feel like a core pillar of the overall gameplay.

This is significant because part of the game’s identity is the challenge and difficulty it poses. According to data from Totally Human Media, there is a total of 10,258 titles with disclosed AI use. Out of them, 12 have grossed 8 figures, 33 grossed 7 figures, and 170 made 6 figures, while the rest are below that.

The list doesn’t count ARC Raiders, as the data was compiled before its release. But, since these other games have also revealed a bit of AI usage, including Battlefield 6, which recently came under fire.

The data sites that areas where gen AI is majorly used include in-game art, followed by voiceover, pre-production, localization, and other marketing-related things. But some major titles are now using it and will use it in the future.

PC Selling Prices Could Rise as Much as 8% in 2026 Amid Worsening Global Memory Crisis

The firm furthermore anticipates a moderate 4.9% reduction in PC sales, and an 8.9% reduction in the bleakest case. However, it’s likely sales will be stopped, and as tradition goes, PC buyers pay even the highest prices for the items they want to get their hands on.

Just recently, Micron, one of the largest RAM producers, closed its retail stores and decided to focus on making high-performance AI chips. With the DRAM shortage expected to persist even beyond 2026, manufacturers and retailers have already begun taking countermeasures.

Buyer Scammed as Amazon Sellers Disguise DDR4 RAM as DDR5

GPU and CPU scams are quite recurring in the industry, but the latest culprit of this fraud is RAM sticks. A user has reported that they ordered a kit of 2 DDR5 RAM sticks from Amazon, but instead got DDR4 disguised as DDR5. 

Why it matters: The inflated prices are leading to scams even in RAM sales, which was previously unheard of. What’s interesting is that the purchase was directly from Amazon and not a third-party seller.

Reddit User Leading-Growth-8361 posted to r/pcmasterrace to alert users about the latest scam. His ordered Corsair Vengeance DDR5 RAM kit was, in fact, a DDR4 kit, disguised with fake heatsinks to say otherwise.

A credible analyst in the gaming scene now claims that Take-Two pursuing a price hike for GTA 6 would not only be expected but also a smart move given the game’s massive hype and the alleged unmatched scope.

Why it matters: GTA 6 having a higher price tag, such as $100, could slow down sales and the migration of players from the current GTA Online to the next multiplayer mode. It would also cause an uproar among gamers.

In an interview with GamesIndustry, analyst Vic Bassey of Video Game Insights also adds that a price increase is likely on the table, but the $100 threshold might be going too far. We are most likely to see a middle ground between the two extremes.

For those not in the know, some developers have also agreed on a similar stance in the past, including the original Saints Row developer Chris Stockman. Meanwhile, the Ori director Thomas Mahler argued that anything beyond $69 is simply unacceptable for GTA 6.

Based on the level of hype surrounding the game, it would be prudent for Take-Two to pursue a price increase – although reaching $100 might just be a threshold too far.

Regardless, Vic does acknowledge that Take-Two would have to carefully weigh all the pros and cons, since the impact of any GTA 6 price tag would be immense.

Xbox Series Sales Collapse in 2025, Falling to Just 1.8 Million Units Sold

In addition, the company has also alienated a large section of its fanbase by hiking the price of the Xbox Series X|S twice in 2025. When you take all of that into account, it isn’t all that surprising to find out that 2017’s Nintendo Switch outsold Xbox hardware this year.

Why It Matters: Xbox had already lowered expectations for Series console sales, yet the numbers still came in far worse than anticipated.

As can be seen above, the Xbox Series X and Series S consoles have only sold 1.8 million units globally in 2025. To put this into context, 3.4 million Nintendo Switch handhelds have shipped this year, despite it launching almost a decade ago and its sequel coming out in June.

The sales of Xbox Series consoles have taken a massive hit, as statistics show a 70% decrease in sales year-on-year when comparing the November timeframe. No doubt, the PS5 has also declined in performance, dropping 40% compared to its sales in November last year.

However, the Sony starlet has still managed to sell over 9 million units worldwide, giving a healthy boost to its already high numbers. Moreover, Nintendo also suffered less of a setback thanks to the launch of Nintendo Switch 2, as it only fell 10% in sales year-on-year.

Microsoft has its sights set on next-gen, with Phil Spencer teasing full PC integration for the upcoming Xbox. Battlefield 6 Faces Player Backlash Over Gen-AI Art Despite Devs’ No-AI Promise

However, despite early promises of not using gen AI in BF6, it appears that developers have started relying on it to create stickers and other art. This has led to the studio facing severe criticism online, as players call for a boycott.

M4A1 with Two Barrels?

As pointed out by users on Reddit and Twitter, the player card sticker of an M4A1 gun was found with obvious flaws that suggest gen AI was used. The gun has two barrels that make no sense and lacks a trigger. The hands on the sticker also look awkward.

Players are also taken aback by how off-putting the sticker looks because their own attempts at generating AI images of the M4A1 gun look miles better in comparison.

Additionally, a separate art found in the game about RPGs vs. golf carts also seems to be AI-generated, according to the players. While some players see no issue, others have pointed out that AI art is generated based on stolen artworks that take jobs away from real artists.
