- Sony has banned Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls on Steam in 132 countries.
- The PSN account requirement has automatically made the title inaccessible in a myriad of regions.
- After cancelling physical discs, this is another slip-up by the company in the same week.
Sony has been fighting one PR disaster after another these past few days. Fans have been constantly bashing the company for its decision to end physical disc production in 2028, and for including an anti-consumer condition in its licensing agreement.
Petitions against Sony’s strategic shift have already crossed 90k signatures, with players also threatening to abandon PlayStation if the company doesn’t reverse its policies. Now, fans have found another bone to pick with the Japanese giant, this time on PC.
Why it matters: Sony finding itself in hot water multiple times this week reflects the company’s misplaced priorities at present.

Sony is under fire from fans once again after its upcoming title, Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls, became unavailable in 132 countries on Steam. The Arc System Works fighting game is suffering from the same issue that previous PlayStation PC releases went through: The PSN account requirement.
Players will need a PSN account to play Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls on Steam. However, as the online service is only supported in a couple of countries, Steam has automatically made the title unavailable in the regions that don’t support PSN.
No doubt, the requirement can be bypassed on consoles by making a PSN account based in another region that supports the service. However, such workarounds aren’t as easy on Steam and could even get your account banned.
Other PC releases from Sony, for example, Stellar Blade, were also victims of this policy. But Shift Up was able to lift this ban after discussion with the Japanese giant, so maybe there is hope for Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls.

Regardless, Sony has slipped up multiple times this week, attracting criticism from fans and developers alike. The company will need to focus on its consumers once again if it doesn’t want everyone to cancel their PS Plus subscription.
