Assassin's Creed Might Just Return To Its Former Glory With First Remake!

Story Highlight
  • Ubisoft has officially shown gameplay for Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced, confirming a July 9 launch for the remake.
  • The footage shows a major graphical upgrade and various other new elements.
  • Ubisoft’s gameplay also features plenty of familiar elements to preserve the core identity of this Assassin’s Creed title.

Following months of rumors and reports, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced has finally revealed a gameplay preview from Ubisoft as part of its official reveal.

The latest footage goes over the game’s graphical upgrade, changes to the combat, core gameplay changes, and more. All in all, Ubisoft appears to have done a phenomenal job with the remake.

Why it matters: Ubisoft’s reputation has taken a massive hit recently following big cancellations and structural changes. The gaming giant now has a shot at bouncing back with its first Assassin’s Creed remake.

As expected, Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is confirmed to launch on July 9 later this year.

The gameplay preview showcases all the familiar pirate-themed adventures Black Flag originally offered, but Ubisoft has carefully upgraded elements like the visuals and smartly tweaked small gameplay features for a more refined experience.

For starters, the already gorgeous world of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag now looks better than ever, thanks to a transition to Ubisoft’s latest engine. Character models have also received a massive upgrade, bringing them closer to the CGI footage from the game’s original trailers.

Ubisoft’s gameplay footage shows that the combat has been tweaked to add more decision-making for players in terms of timing parries and using environmental interactions. All of this is done while retaining the classic kill chains and execution animations.

Edward Kenway can also freely crouch while in stealth, and the remake makes it so that tailing missions do not immediately end once he is spotted. All in all, the gameplay shows how Ubisoft has changed Assassin’s Creed Black Flag just enough to preserve its identity while making the remake stand out.

Because the French studio plans to pursue future remakes based on how well this rendition of Black Flag performs, this upcoming title might pave the path for a brighter future for the company.

If this footage is anything to go by, Assassin’s Creed could return to its former glory later this year
