With over 5 million copies sold worldwide, Crimson Desert has been an overwhelming success for developer Pearl Abyss. The title has turned the tide on the average reception it received at launch, going from mixed reviews to a “Very Positive” rating on Steam.

The developer’s attention to player feedback and urgency in fixing issues plaguing Crimson Desert has turned out to be a big reason for this triumphant success. Now, over a month after launching, Pearl Abyss has released the biggest update for the open-world title as of yet.

Why it matters: Without the post-launch support provided by Pearl Abyss, the action-adventure game wouldn’t have turned out to be as successful as it did.

Pearl Abyss just released Patch 1.04 for Crimson Desert, and the new update has added the much-wanted difficulty settings to the game. Fans can now play the title on either an easy, normal, or hard difficulty, with the latter offering intense combat and an even more challenging journey.

This massive patch has also added dozens of items to Crimson Desert, including new pets, storage chests, and weapons for all three playable characters. Furthermore, players can now name their pets and horses, personalising the companions even more.

The new update has improved rendering distance to an extent, with the visual clarity of distant objects and textures looking much better. Players can also change the layouts of their houses, with several options available for them to choose from.

Controls have been updated once again in the open-world title based on fan feedback. Aiming controls have been improved, and Crimson Desert players can also switch the controls for dodge roll and evasion.
