Creating In-House Studio For Silent Hill IP!

Story Highlights
  • Konami is looking for developers to fill the roles of engineering, production, and more in the ‘Silent Production Team.’
  • This announcement is reminiscent of the publisher’s previous in-house studio, Team Silent.
  • The team is expected to lead the development of future remakes and entries of the horror franchise.

The Silent Hill IP is among the many returning horror franchises this year. While its debut in 2023 has been far from pleasant after the poorly received interactive TV series, multiple projects are on the horizon.

Silent Hill 2 Remake is the most anticipated of these projects, but the publisher has various goals for the series’ future. Konami is now hiring for several roles to strengthen the ‘Silent Production Team’ in its goal to expand the horror franchise.

Why it matters: Since the publisher is looking to fill multiple positions, Konami will likely continue supporting this franchise for many years.

According to a recent tweet, the gaming giant is looking for artists, planners, engineers, and project managers. The company elaborates that these roles will help the team oversee the production of future games.

A recent report from Konami also hinted at multiple remakes. Therefore, the new employees may help the publisher prepare for another remake on the same scale as Silent Hill 2.

For now, the publisher has outsourced the development of its biggest horror remake to Bloober Team. However, these hirings could be a sign of things to come, pointing to a bigger focus on in-house development.

In the past, Konami established Team Silent, an in-house studio responsible for the development of this franchise between 1999 and 2004. This era was quite a success for this series.

The latest announcement is a callback to these golden days, with Konami hoping to use the ‘Silent Production Team’ as a pillar of this IP in the future. Whether this means the publisher will continue to rely on external developers like Bloober Team, however, remains to be seen.

Following the recently announced Metal Solid 3 Remake, Konami is fully dedicated to the AAA gaming industry.

While this company fell from grace not too long ago, its focus on in-house development, remakes, and various entries for big IPs like Silent Hill and Metal Gear Solid could pave the path for a successful future.

The ‘Silent Production Team’ is expected to bring future Silent Hill entries to life. With more reliance on creativity and innovative ideas, the publisher is putting all of its resources to good use.
