Average Power Consumption

To wrap up the performance section of the Core i7-1360P vs Core i5-1340P comparison, we’ll look at the idle and under-load power consumption numbers.

Remember: Both CPUs have the same base (20-28W) and boost (64W) power ratings.

Power consumption, stress and idle
Power consumption (Image by Tech4Gamers)
  • Idle power consumption: Sitting idle, the Core i7-1360P averaged 5.8 watts of power draw, and the Core i5-1340P averaged 5 watts.
  • Load power consumption: Under load, the Core i7-1360P used 60.4 watts of power on average, just 0.3 watts less than the Core i5-1340P. That’s less than a 0.5% difference and can be ignored.

Laptop Prices

Here’s what the laptop prices look like for both CPUs.

Note: The prices have been estimated from Amazon US and are valid as of August 2023

  • Core i7-1360P: The most affordable options have a starting price of $1089, with the most popular options lying in the $1099-$2279 range. For the most expensive Core i7-1360P laptops, you’ll be looking to pay up to $3499.
  • Core i5-1340P: For this mobile CPU, entry-level laptops start at $867, while the best-sellers are in the $867-$1719 price bracket. The prices go as high as $2066 for the most expensive options.

Core i5-1340P Vs Core i7-1360P: Which One Is Better For You?

Let’s quickly review the performance and prices to find the better-value CPU. The Core i7-1360P performed 7.2% and 9.2% faster in multi-core and single-core applications, respectively. It was also marginally faster in the Blender and HWBOT x265 tests but was beaten in the 3DMark Time Spy benchmark.

As for the price difference, entry-level Core i5-1340P laptops are 25.6% cheaper than Core i7 ones.

The price difference between the laptops is much greater than the two CPUs’ performance difference. Additionally, the Core i5-1340P was the better performer in the 3DMark test. So, the Core i5-1340P is the better value CPU compared to the Core i7-1360P

Final Thoughts

This marks the end of this showdown between the two Raptor Lake CPUs. I found that the Core i7-1360P performed better, but not by a big margin.

This is not a surprise since these two CPUs have no significant technological difference other than the L3 cache capacity. Comparing the laptop prices, though, it turned out that the Core i5-1340P laptops are much cheaper than the Core i7-1360P ones.

So overall, the Core i5-1340P is the better CPU considering price and performance. If you want the best performance, the Core i7-1360P is still the better option; just remember that you’ll get much less value out of your money.
