The Witcher 3: Remastered has seen a lot of fanfare already, but the release is particularly important for CDPR fans on the Nintendo platform.

Following the team’s commendable effort with Cyberpunk 2077 on the Nintendo Switch 2, The Witcher 3 now arrives on the console, bringing a huge graphical jump over its previous version on the original Nintendo Switch.

Why it matters: The Nintendo Switch had plenty of horrendous ports back in the day, but its successor is doing most third-party games justice, including The Witcher 3: Remastered.

A video showcasing the two versions side-by-side highlights just how much of an upgrade The Witcher 3: Remastered delivers on the Nintendo Switch 2.

By far the biggest jump has come in the textures and level of detail in the game. The Witcher 3’s mobile-game-like textures on the original Nintendo Switch have been made significantly sharper in the new version.

Moreover, character models and elements like foliage, shadows, etc. have gone through a huge overhaul. In certain instances, the differences are so visible that The Witcher 3 on the original Nintendo Switch looks like a completely different game altogether, so CDPR has done a great job bringing the Nintendo Switch 2 version in line with The Witcher 3 on other, more powerful consoles.

As for the frame rate, the Nintendo Switch 2 can push up to 40FPS across both Handheld and docked modes compared to the original version’s 30FPS experience. The console also targets 1080p in docked mode, while sticking to 720p resolution in handheld mode.

All in all, The Witcher 3 experience on Nintendo hardware is now worth gamers’ attention, especially with new DLC content for the title coming in 2027.
