- Modern Warfare 4 player counts are lower on Xbox by 32% compared to Black Ops 7.
- The game has also seen fewer players during launch week than Halo: Campaign Evolved and Gears of War: E-Day on the platform.
- The $70 price tag and Game Pass exit are the major reasons behind this difference.
Modern Warfare 4 launched to a lot of excitement and showed plenty of potential. The game appears to also have done well across various platforms, but the same may not be the case for Xbox.
In fact, reports suggest player counts on the platform are down compared to last year’s entry.
Why it matters: Black Ops 7 was largely considered a poor Call of Duty entry, but it still released as part of Game Pass, so many gave it a shot anyway.

Modern Warfare 4 appears to be facing a slower start in player engagement on Xbox, despite generally positive reception around its campaign and multiplayer package. According to True Achievements, player counts for the latest entry are down by 32%.
This is mainly due to Black Ops 7 being available on Game Pass. In fact, Modern Warfare 4’s exclusion from Game Pass saw the title launch to fewer players than Halo: Campaign Evolved, Forza Horizon 6, and Gears of War: E-Day.
In Forza Horizon 6’s case, the game had nearly 50% more players during its launch week than the latest Call of Duty title.

Of course, Modern Warfare 4 will likely outsell these titles when considering overall sales. The date only goes to show how Xbox has conditioned its player base to rely on Game Pass, with Call of Duty’s latest entry now suffering from the effects of its exit from the subscription.
