- Phantom Blade Zero has become the No. 1 Steam best-seller ahead of release.
- The game is even outselling Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 at the moment despite the positive traction for this year’s Call of Duty title.
- Estimates suggest pre-order figures are currently higher than 1 million.
Modern Warfare 4 came out recently and resonated with players across all platforms, including Steam.
The game had a solid start on the platform, but it appears Modern Warfare 4’s run has already been ended by Phantom Blade Zero. The title is now Steam’s latest best-seller.
Why it matters: This release marks S-Game’s debut AAA offering, and all signs now point to it becoming a huge success.
Phantom Blade Zero has climbed to the top of Steam’s best-seller chart, beating out multiple big titles.
The game’s momentum has seen it beating free-to-play offerings like Counter-Strike 2. Moreover, Phantom Blade Zero has even overtaken a recent major release like Modern Warfare 4.
Reports suggest the game has sold over 1 million units, with most of them coming from Steam. As such, perhaps it isn’t too surprising that the action-RPG is performing so well.
Note that Phantom Blade Zero is now nearly out, so it will be interesting to see the kind of player counts it reaches on day one.
Because PC gaming is so popular in China, S-Game’s debut AAA title could be on track to see similar success to Black Myth: Wukong, another game that broke all sorts of numbers on Steam soon after its release.
