Witcher 3 Remastered Is Huge!

Story Highlight

  • CDPR recently launched The Witcher 3: Remastered, and the game has seen a lot of success.
  • An analysis suggests the title led to a more than 10x spike in daily player counts and helped generate $3 million in revenue.
  • The game should receive further attention once CDPR releases the Songs of the Past DLC and The Witcher 4.

The Witcher 3 continues to be one of modern gaming’s finest RPGs, and with the recent release of its remastered version, the game has seen an influx of new and returning players.

Ahead of the upcoming DLC, interest in the series has never been higher, with an analyst noting that The Witcher 3: Remastered led to a 10x surge in average daily users for the game.

Why it matters: The Witcher 3: Remastered already outpaced the original version in terms of players on Steam, so it seems the re-release has performed similarly well across other platforms.

As per Alinea Analytics’ Rhys Elliott, The Witcher 3: Remastered has seen around 2.4 million daily users since its release. This marks a greater than 10x jump for The Witcher 3.

It is also said that the remaster helped CDPR ship an additional 130K copies, leading to nearly $3 million in additional revenue for the 10+-year-old game. Note that this data does not take into account the Nintendo Switch version, which has also seen a major upgrade with the remaster’s release.

Because the team likely hoped to generate additional momentum for the game before the upcoming DLC, the remaster seems to be doing just that. 2027 should lead to another surge in sales and interest for The Witcher 3 due to the buzz surrounding the Songs of the Past DLC and The Witcher 4.

Anyhow, this re-release solidifies the fact that The Witcher 3 remains an absolute classic, especially in the RPG genre.
