Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 has now sold over 5 million copies worldwide.
The game has exceeded Embracer Group’s expectations in sales.
The RPG’s new DLC and extended support from Warhorse contributed to higher sales.
Moreover, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 has become an overwhelming commercial success for the studio, reaching 4 million copies sold back in November and now surpassing the coveted 5 million milestone according to a new update.
Why it matters: Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 has turned out to be one of the most exciting and inspired RPG titles of the past few years. Hence, seeing Warhorse succeed through its hard work is encouraging, as the game will be remembered for years to come.
As reported by Embracer Group in its Q3 fiscal report, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 has performed “well ahead” of the company’s expectations, selling more than 5 million copies in its first year.
Thanks to support from multiple expansions, including the most recent Mysteria Ecclesiae DLC, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 has become a commercial juggernaut for Embracer Group. The game was among the top 5 back-catalog titles driving revenue for the company this quarter, alongside Dead Island 2 and Killing Floor 3.
Hence, when you account for this overwhelming commercial success and the fan response to the in-depth mechanics of the series, it’s not a surprise that Warhorse is remastering the original Kingdom Come: Deliverance for current-gen consoles.
Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 has been hailed as one of the greatest RPG’s of all time.
Even though the RPG was snubbed for Game of the Year in favour of Expedition 33 at most major award shows, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is still leaving a lasting impact and commercial success across all platforms.
Do you think Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 deserves all of this commercial and critical success? Was the RPG snubbed at The Game Awards? Tell us in the comments below or head to the Tech4Gamers forum for discussion.

Manufacturers are now unwillingly complying with the newly passed bills which mandate consumer access to genuine replacement parts and thorough service manuals.
Industrial-strength adhesive, integrated PCBs with SoCs, proprietary screws, and specialized tools are a few of the hacks these manufacturers are using to discourage DIYers.
The economic and practical feasibility of such DIY repairs have taken a detrimental hit with limited access to ridiculously priced parts.
The Malicious Compliance Playbook: A New Kind Of Lock
To begin with, the new laws mandate access to parts, tools, and manuals.
Manufacturers are obeying, but in the most hollow way possible.
They have pivoted from blatant refusal to a strategy of "malicious compliance."
The objective is no longer to lock the door. It is to make the key so difficult and expensive to use that you abandon the attempt altogether.
They are giving us the textbook, then changing the exam to a language we cannot speak.
Laughably, the manual stated that the battery isn’t removable at all, so you’re supposed to purchase an entirely new top case that will include the new battery along with the keyboard, microphone, and speakers.
Meanwhile, Apple expects users to harvest the majority of their laptop’s original innards like the trackpad, logic board, and display along with the bottom case and marry these components to the new top case. That’s just ludicrous.
Thankfully, this is where iFixit comes in, one of the pioneers when it came to leading the original Right To Repair movement.
iFixit proved that it’s possible to replace the MacBook Pro’s battery without having to splurge for a new top case, but even then, the repair guide is 70 steps long from start to finish.
2023 14" MacBook Pro (A2779) Internals - Whatever happened to removable disk drives, upgradeable RAM, and screwed-in batteries? (Image Credits - iFixit)
The worst part? Asides from having to disassemble the entire trackpad, you’re required to harvest 14 stretch release adhesive strips (pull tabs) to safely remove the battery.
If you get unlucky and break even one of the pull tabs, I wish you the best of luck.
That’s because you’re going to need to apply 90% concentrated isopropyl alcohol in a desperate attempt to remove any of the battery’s residual adhesive.
Otherwise, you risk puncturing the battery while prying it out, a manoeuvre that could end catastrophically.
Needless to say, the required tools have escalated from simple screwdrivers to specialized pry tools, thermal heating pads, and surgical-grade solvents.
The law provided the map, but the territory is a hostile jungle designed to break your will.
The Software Lockdown: Apple’s Blueprint And The Spread Of Digital Handcuffs
However, the physical glue is just the prelude.
The masterstroke, perfected by Apple and now spreading across the industry, is the software lock. This is called "parts pairing."
Imagine you brave the 130 step guide to install a brand new, genuine logic board for the aforementioned 2023 14” MacBook Pro (M3 Pro).
You power on the laptop, only to find that Touch ID isn’t working anymore.
On recent MacBooks (since 2016), this scenario is standard.
Replace the logic board with even an original Apple board, and you lose Touch ID, the fingerprint recognition feature.
The laptop’s software sees a new, unauthorized serial number and disables core functionality for the Touch ID board.
Unfortunately, the only workaround is to buy a new Touch ID board for just under $100 and use Apple’s Repair Assistant to mate the new parts to each other.
Used boards on third-party marketplaces aren't cheap either, but at least you won't have to take the risk of manual parts pairing. (Image Credits - iFixit)
Alternatively, you could buy a used logic board that already has a pre-existing “married” Touch ID board off of third party marketplaces like eBay or even iFixit, but this isn’t really a confidence-instilling solution.
The Economic Vice: Pricing You Out Of Ownership
Let us say you conquer the glue and circumvent the software. The final barrier is purely financial.
Manufacturers are complying with laws to sell parts, but they are pricing those parts with breathtaking aggression.
For example, the previously mentioned MacBook Pro’s Logic Board costs more than $700 to replace when you order a brand new, genuine unit from Apple’s Self Service Repair Store.
Factor in the $90 or so for the Touch ID Board and you’re looking at a repair bill of over $800 for just parts.
Thanks to replacing the speakers and MagSafe board on my own Late 2013 15" MacBook Pro, I know how difficult and expensive it can become to source OEM parts. (Image Credits - Tech4Gamers)
When you add the cost of the specialized tools, the hours of risk-filled labor, and the very real possibility of a software locked component, the economic equation collapses.
The right to repair is meaningless without the right to an affordable repair.
By controlling the parts market, corporations have ensured that the right to repair was never about a screwdriver, it was always about control.

A Redditor has shared an interesting story of recent finds from exploring the leftovers in his hometown.
He states that he obtained 64GB of DDR4 memory, an Intel Core i7 10th-gen CPU, and more.
This much memory is worth nearly $500 currently, so the Redditor found quite the value in his dumpster diving experience.
Memory prices are on the rise worldwide, and RAM sticks are on their way to becoming a rarity. Prices for this particular PC component have risen significantly over the last few years, even impacting DDR4 and DDR3 RAM.
Gamers are companies now face the challenge of coming up with a creative solution to the problem. Although unconventional, one Redditor has shared a very interesting experience recently, stating that he went dumpster diving and ended up scoring DDR4 RAM sticks.
Why it matters: RAM is incredibly valuable in 2026, so it comes as a huge shock that some people would throw out working memory kits in the current year.
As shared on Reddit, the user recently ended up getting his hands on a whopping 64GB of DDR4 memory when exploring his local leftovers. Perhaps the best part is that this was far from everything he ended up securing, with the full haul also including a 10th-gen i7 CPU and a Samsung monitor.
For those curious, this much memory costs between $400-500 on Amazon at the moment. Needless to say, the Redditor found himself quite the steal in exploring the waste left behind by other people.
In the comments, many Redditors joked about the value of the RAM itself. One user even commented that the 64GB RAM could be sold for enough money to buy a 600 series BMW.
Explaining the incident, the Redditor explained that the memory was left abandoned on the floor in a box after the shipping container left off its monthly waste. He also shared that past finds included items such as TVs and laptops through the same process.
As such, this time does not appear to be the first big score for the user when going through waste in his hometown.
Because perfectly fine memory kits were abandoned by someone for seemingly no reason in this instance, this story likely came out as the result of unawareness regarding the current situation of memory around the globe.
However, as the year goes on, these instances will likely become rarer and rarer. Perhaps this is your cue to go dumpster diving in the hopes of stumbling upon a few memory sticks.

Logitech’s latest PRO X2 SUPERSTRIKE introduces actuation technology to gaming mice.
It uses an Inductive Haptic Feedback System (HITS), which works similarly to a keyboard’s Rapid Trigger.
Featuring a battery life of up to 90 hours, adjustable DPI from 100 to 44,000 (thanks to the HERO 2 sensor), Logitech’s latest PRO X2 SUPERSTRIKE costs €179.99.
The keyboard, mouse, and monitor have always been the main peripherals of every PC setup. Keyboards took a major leap, moving from basic membrane designs to precise mechanical switches. But among all these upgrades, Hall Effect keyboards have arguably been a great improvement so far.
With Rapid Trigger technology, keys can be actuated and reset by movement, so you don’t need to press a key fully for it to register. This results in faster inputs, sharper responsiveness, and a real competitive edge in games.
Now, that same cutting-edge concept is arriving in the world of gaming mice. The Logitech PRO X2 SUPERSTRIKE brings adjustable actuation technology to mouse clicks, opening the door to a new level of speed and customization. It’s an exciting step forward that could redefine how we think about precision and responsiveness in competitive play.
Whether you prefer a heavier or lighter mouse is a matter of personal preference, just as with the mouse’s form and design. It is something that is unique to each individual, and it is fair to state that there is no discernible difference between how well or poorly you play.
There are obvious variations in mouse switches, but unless you’re upgrading from a low-cost device to a high-end model, the difference will be minimal. The Logitech PRO X2 SUPERSTRIKE appears to be the exception to a long period of stagnation in mouse innovation and evolution.
This uses an Inductive Haptic Feedback System (HITS), which works similarly to a keyboard’s Rapid Trigger. This means that we can change the activation and reset points for each click, left and right.
As a result, we can reduce click travel, giving us an advantage over traditional mice, which require more pressure to activate.
Logitech PRO X2 SUPERSTRIKE Is One Of The Most Unique Mice Ever
In addition to just changing the click sensitivity, a new type of inductive sensor was introduced to provide haptic feedback. You can experiment with numerous setups and choose from six intensity levels to suit your preferences.
This would be the brand’s first mouse to offer a genuinely unique experience, as its actuation levels, Rapid Trigger, and haptic feedback are new features.
In terms of design, the mouse is nearly identical to the Logitech G Pro and G Pro X, although it is white with black accents on the click area and icon. The weight is likewise identical at 61 grams, and it features the HERO 2 sensor, which allows you to change the DPI from 100 to 44,000.
Other specs include a polling rate of up to 8,000 Hz, a battery life of 90 hours, and a price of €179.99.

xQc reveals that his highest payday to stream a game was $1 million for Call of Duty.
Activision paid him this whopping amount to stream the game for 12 hours in one day.
This shows the influence of streamers and how much companies spend on marketing.
It is no secret that Activision splashes a huge amount of money to promote its blockbuster franchise, Call of Duty. The quality of recent titles has been debatable, but there is no doubt that the company invests heavily in the franchise.
So much so that Stramer xQc, in a recent Q&A, revealed that Activision paid him an eye-watering $1 million to stream Call of Duty: Warzone for 12 hours in one day. This is a ridiculously high amount of money for half a day.
Why it matters: Streamers do get a lot to promote games, but this kind of money, that too for just 12 hours a day if rarely heard of, and shows how much Activision is committed to marketing its FPS franchise.
In a recent session with Dexerto, xQc was asked about the highest sum of money he has ever made in a day. The streamer replied that he once made a whopping $15 million a day from some gambling content.
But in terms of gaming, his highest payday was $1 million, which Activision offered for streaming Call of Duty. The original deal was multiple streams over 2 weeks, but they settled on 12 hours in a single day.
xQc was paid $1 million to stream Call of Duty for 12 hours in 1 day
This shows how the streamer holds a huge influence over the gaming industry. Now, yes, not every streamer is paid this much, and this must be a rare case scenario, but there is no denying the impact of streamers on game marketing.
Nonetheless, fans have urged Activision to pour the same investment and quality into recent games. It has struggled to maintain a strong player base lately, and fans want something new and fresh.

A God of War Metroidvania game has been rumored for a very long time now.
New rumors suggest it could be the first on-release multiplatform game in the series.
The game could be showcased at the upcoming State of Play on February 12.
The God of War franchise has been synonymous with success. Almost every release has been critically received, making it one of the most beloved game franchises ever. Soon, we could be getting a new entry, but apparently not a mainline game.
There have been rumors of a God of War 2.5D Metroidvania game for the longest time. It is expected to be announced at the upcoming State of Play, but more importantly, it could be the first major game in the series to skip exclusivity at launch.
Why it matters: Analysts and experts have claimed that multiplatform is the way forward to tackle increasing game budgets. So, while Sony isn’t going into it as aggressively as Microsoft, it is now focusing on other platforms too.
Rumored God of War Metroidvania could be a multiplatform release
Leaker NateTheHate says that when the rumors of the God of War Metroidvania emerged, there were plans that it would be a multiplatform release. While he isn’t sure if that become a reality, there is a solid chance.
Launching the game on multiple platforms would make sense to help reach a wider audience. Since the LEGO Horizon game launched on Switch, the God of War title could be a really great fit for the Switch 2 as well.
The title is expected to be revealed at the upcoming State of Play
This could make the title the first God of War release to skip PlayStation exclusivity at launch. However, none of this is confirmed for now, so take this with a grain of salt, but if it’s indeed real, we’ll likely find out tomorrow.

A notable insider has hinted at a major Santa Monica reveal at PlayStation State of Play.
The project is expected to be the next God of War game, or it could be the rumored sci-fi IP.
It could also be the rumored 2.5D Metroidvania spin-off based on God of War.
Santa Monica’s next title has been on everyone’s radar, as the studio has been radio silent since its last God of War title came out. The studio has reportedly been working on various projects within the God of War IP and a whole new franchise.
Regardless, a notable industry insider now teases that a major reveal from the team could be on the horizon. The team is expected to make an appearance in the upcoming PlayStation State of Play and could reveal a God of War sequel or its new unannounced IP.
Why it matters: The next mainline God of War title reportedly takes place in Egypt. On the other hand, almost nothing is known about Santa Monica’s mysterious sci-fi IP so far.
Reliable insider Shinobi has teased a new Santa Monica game for PlayStation State of Play.
Insider Shinobi602 says on ResetEra that it’s expected for Santa Monica to appear at the next SoP. The event is expected to last over an hour and will offer a deep dive into upcoming first-party titles, including game updates and new announcements.
Santa Monica has been working on multiple games over the years, as per job listings. Therefore, its new sci-fi series or the next God of War title may be ready enough to be revealed at this point.
The event is also expected to feature some other big hitters.
Santa Monica could also announce a GoW spin-off instead, although it is seemingly a different project from Cory Barlog’s game. The side project reportedly takes place in Greece and is a 2.5D Metroidvania.
Regardless, it is best to take the report with a pinch of salt for now.

DLSS 4.5 presets L and M produce a superior result when the in-game denoiser is disabled.
Upon testing, it was revealed that the in-game denoiser was interfering with the upscaler.
DLSS 4.5 likely has its own denoiser baked into it, which looks better than the ones used in games.
However, for lower presets, specifically the M and L versions, actually produce noised ray-traced reflections when turned on. However, fixing that is just as simple as disabling the in-game noiser, which results in a far better-looking image quality and ray tracing result.
Why it matters: This simple fix shows that the DLSS 4.5 presets M and L have issues, and Nvidia needs to resolve them, potentially in a future version of the technology.
Folks at Digital Foundry made this discovery and found that disabling the in-game denoiser does wonders on presets L and M, and the difference, as shown, is day and night.
The interesting reveal is that DLSS 4.5 denoising actually works better than the stock denoisers in-game. If anything, having an upscaler with this capability would do wonders for games with heavy ray-tracing.
As for the reason behind the poor image when the in-game denoiser is turned on, the tech experts talked with a third-party developer and found that preset L and M have poor interplay with ray tracing effects denoising that is done prior to DLSS upscaling a lower resolution image.
Furthermore, it’s also understandable that DLSS 4.5 potentially has its own denoiser baked into it, which interferes with the one used in-game when forced. Hopefully, Nvidia will take this into account for future DLSS updates and fix it.
Overall, Digital Foundry concluded that preset L and M are quite similar to each other, with preset L having the advantage of handling better noise and aliasing on vegetation.

A new ESRB rating for Resident Evil 5 suggests that a full-fledged remake could be revealed soon.
The rating is for Xbox Series consoles and also mentions in-game purchases.
An RE5 voice actor also previously teased that something related to the game was happening in March.
Capcom is certainly on a roll with the Resident Evil franchise in recent years, with multiple successful remakes and the upcoming mainline entry making it one of the most influential horror IPs of all time.
Besides the rumored Code Veronica and Zero remakes, a new ESRB rating now teases that the studio is also preparing a full-fledged RE5 remake, or at least a remaster.
Why it matters: A complete Resident Evil 5 remake would make for a great chance for new franchise fans to experience one of the series’ most-beloved classic releases. It could either be announced in the upcoming PlayStation State of Play or next month.
The Resident Evil 5 remake ESRB rating is for Xbox Series consoles.
The new ESRB rating is for the current-gen Xbox Series X|S consoles. It also mentions ‘in-game purchases’ weirdly enough, which has raised eyebrows in the industry. These tidbits suggest that the project is more likely to be a high-budget remake than a remaster.
It is expected to be revealed at PlayStation State of Play on February 12 or in March. The latter seems more likely, as the voice actor for one of RE5’s main protagonists, Sheva Alomar, also recently teased that something related to the game was happening in March.
In the past, a Resident Evil 5 remake was teased via a cutscene in the Resident Evil 4 remake. Rumblings on the Steam page of the original game have also implied the same before.
Therefore, these corroborations suggest that we are getting a revisit to RE5 in some capacity at least.
A Resident Evil Code Veronica remake is also on the cards.
Another batch of rumors suggested that Capcom is planning to release a Resident Evil Code Veronica or Zero remake next.
In the best-case scenario, it’s possible that all these remakes in the series are in the works and will be launched over time.

Remedy has appointed Jean-Charles Gaudechon as the new CEO of the company.
The CEO previously worked at EA and the sports betting company Sleeper, leading to concerns among fans.
Many believe the CEO will push Remedy in a direction that prioritizes profit over artistic integrity, unlike the team’s past games.
Remedy has always been a fan-favorite studio, dating back to the days of hit IPs like Max Payne. However, the team has risen further in popularity recently, thanks to successes with games like Control and Alan Wake 2.
The team is currently hard at work on Control Resonant, a new title scheduled to launch later this year. As excitement for this new entry in the Control saga builds, players have also begun showing concerns about the future of the studio due to the new CEO’s past track record.
Why it matters: Remedy recently confirmed that a new CEO has joined the team, and he brings past experience from publishers like EA.
Remedy Fans Concerned over New CEO | Image via Reddit
According to the studio’s latest announcement, Jean-Charles Gaudechon is the new Remedy CEO, and he will take up the role starting in March.
The announcement notes that Jean-Charles Gaudechon has experience with profit and loss responsibilities, which he will use to usher in a new era of growth for the studio. As Jean-Charles Gaudechon puts it, the team will be “scaled in a way that builds lasting value.”
However, looking at the executive’s past, he worked as the Senior Vice President of Sleeper, a sports betting platform. Many fans are now concerned that the new CEO will steer Remedy in the wrong direction.
Over on platforms like Reddit, many believe that a team like Remedy hiring an executive with such a past is an immediate red flag. They find that the studio is inherently suited to making risky and artistic projects, something the new CEO might stray away from in search of higher profits, which typically leads teams to pursue live-service projects.
It’s gonna be really funny when they finally get Max Payne back and make a pachinko machine.

Overwatch 2 has been rebranded, and Blizzard has launched Season 1 with five new characters to reset the sequel.
This strategy has led to a sharp increase in the player base, leaving many gamers waiting in queues to play the first-person shooter.
Overwatch has also hit all-time high figures of over 100K concurrent players on Steam.
Blizzard recently announced major changes for Overwatch 2. In addition to adding as many as five new heroes, the game has gone through a major rebranding.
The first-person shooter has now returned to the title “Overwatch,” and this move seems to be working surprisingly well for the game. In fact, player interest in the IP appears to be at an all-time high, leading to queues being formed for the free-to-play title.
Why it matters: Overwatch became an immediate hit when it launched in 2016, but its sequel has not had the same luck. It seems Blizzard’s strategy to reset the series once again is now working to its advantage.
Overwatch Has Become So Popular Again That Players Are Waiting In Queues | Image via CharlieIntel
As shown above, players have reported being stuck in queues when attempting to log into Overwatch.
Granted, these queues are much smaller than the ones seen for a title like Battlefield 6, but they highlight that Blizzard’s first-person shooter is in a much better position today than it was a few days ago.
Over on Steam, the game also appears to be doing incredibly well. Following the new season’s arrival, Overwatch immediately hit an all-time high of over 100K concurrent players.
At the time of writing, this figure stands at 121,255 players and is still climbing. It’s worth noting that the first-person shooter is likely experiencing a similar resurgence across other platforms, like PlayStation, Xbox, and Battle.net.
What makes this resurgence so interesting is that it wasn’t long ago that the first-person shooter hit an all-time low player count on Steam.
The fresh start with Overwatch season 1 seems to be just what the game needed. If Blizzard capitalizes on the current interest, it could retain players for many months or years to come.

In 2023, Annapurna Interactive announced a new Blade Runner game set between the events of the two films.
Unfortunately, the title has now been delisted on Steam and may have been cancelled.
In 2024, most of the staff working on the game had resigned, too.
Blade Runner 2033: Labyrinth was initially announced as a new game in the franchise after the last release in 1997, now set between the events of the original film and the more recent Blade Runner 2049.
Unfortunately, the title may now have been cancelled after being delisted on Steam and on Annapurna’s official website. Moreover, all the developers working on the game have also resigned a while ago.
Why it matters: Blade Runner 2033: Labyrinth looked quite exciting, and fans have been waiting for a new update on the game ever since the announcement.
Annapurna Interactive Has Now Pulled The Game From Steam
Blade Runner 2033: Labyrinth’s official Steam page notes that it is no longer available. More importantly, most of the staff working on the game had also resigned from the studio around 2024, but it was understood that development would continue.
Unfortunately, continued turmoil at Annapurna Interactive may have led to the game’s cancellation. The studio was working on 14 games at that time, so it’s quite possible that some of them may have been shelved due to the situation at that time.
Now, the game isn’t to be found even on the developer’s official website.
This isn’t all, though — another Blade Runner game was cancelled last year, which was described as a third-person title under Supermassive Games. The title was focused on cinematics and a character-driven story featuring stealth and other mechanics.
This amounts to 2 Blade Runner games being cancelled back-to-back, and the only release we have right now is the 1997 title, a point-and-click adventure game.
