CoD Hitting A New Low!

Story Highlight
  • Battlefield 2042 has overtaken CoD Black Ops 6 and Warzone in terms of player base.
  • The game has seen massive gains in player base and is up by more than 100% in the last 30 days.
  • The future of CoD looks grim with Battlefield 6 set to overtake Black Ops 7 by a considerable margin.

The CoD franchise is at its lowest point in years, and Battlefield 6’s beta has already overtaken it to turn the tables. Thanks to the Battlefield 6 beta, the entire series has been rejuvenated and is experiencing the highest playercount they’ve had in years.

This includes Battlefield 2042, too, which is often regarded as the black sheep of the franchise. Surprisingly, the 4-year-old release is now surpassing CoD Black Ops 6 and Warzone in terms of player count.

Why it matters: Battlefield 2042 is by far the worst entry of the series, and for that game to surpass CoD, including the free-to-play Warzone mode, is surprising. Activision really needs to figure out the series’ direction, as its future is looking quite grim.

Currently, Battlefield 2042 has a peak concurrent player count of 64k in the past 24 hours, whereas CoD’s peak player count was only 54k players. Over at Steam Charts, the player count represented for CoD includes the latest Black Ops 6 as well as the free-to-play Warzone mode.

In the last 30 days, Battlefield 2042 has seen a staggering +167.26% increase in player count. This is largely due to the hype of Battlefield 6 as well as the free update the game received recently, adding new weapons, a map, and other content.

On the other hand, CoD has been losing its fanbase like a sinking ship. In the last 30 days, they’ve lost -14.36% of their playerbase and have been doing so for months. Lately, the franchise has been losing its direction with the new questionable content, which includes goofy skins and other additions.

Unfortunately, CoD will continue to experience these lows. The Black Ops 7 reveal will go down as the worst in the series, filled with hate comments and negativity on YouTube.

Alternatively, EA secured almost a million Battlefield 6 pre-orders and will boot stomp its rival. Surprisingly, Activision isn’t fazed at all and doesn’t consider Battlefield 6 a threat, as they believe their IP is too big to die.
