Marvel Rivals Prints Over $100 Million Revenue In A Historical First Month

Story Highlight
  • Marvel Rivals has reportedly made a whopping $136 million in its first month.
  • The game has apparently made $100 million globally with China adding the rest.
  • Estimates suggest the game could make over a billion per annum at this rate.

If taking over the movie world wasn’t enough for Marvel, the company has also been making steps to dominate the gaming industry. And, titles like Spider-Man and Guardians of the Galaxy have pushed them in the right direction in achieving this goal with massive sales and immense critical reception.

However, Marvel has been lacking a major live-service attraction with its Avengers game from Square Enix failing. But it seems like the comic giant has found its answer in Marvel Rivals from NetEase, which launched last month with an overwhelmingly positive response and has since been raking in the money.

Why it matters: Marvel Rivals seemingly has the potential to be a certified money-maker for the company.

Marvel Rivals 136 Million Revenue First Month
Marvel Rivals Introduced The Fantastic Four Right After Release.

According to Chinese outlet GameLook, the total gross of the NetEase hero shooter is almost $136.4 million. Marvel Rivals has made a whopping $54.5 million on Steam alone, with PlayStation 5 also bringing in a total of $27.2 million.

On the other hand, Marvel Rivals has only made about $2.7 million from the Xbox Series consoles. Furthermore, as the hero shooter is also available on other PC clients, GameLook estimates its global revenue alone is close to $100 million, without even accounting for China.

According to estimates, if NetEase is able to sustain steady player traffic and keep bringing in interesting content like the Fantastic Four, Marvel Rivals could be set to make $1.36 billion per annum.

Marvel Rivals also had a supreme start on Steam, peaking with over 400k concurrent players on the platform. Since its launch on December 6, the game has maintained a daily concurrent player count around this number and also has good reviews on Steam, with an 80% very positive rating.

Seasonic TX-1600 Noctua Edition Titanium ATX 3.1 Review

There are very few “reputable” brands in the PSU market who actually make their own PSUs. One of the biggest advantages of in-house design/production is you can better engineer and tweak your platform with more flexible options that are going to give you the desired results.

Many OEMs (e.g. CWT, Great Wall, HEC etc) that offer their PSU platforms to different brands tend to utilize the exact same platform throughout and then those brands have very little say for even a few minor changes. This has been a major key advantage for Seasonic over many years but the competitors have now finally caught up with their latest ATX 3.0/3.1 PSU platforms and they do come with the most up-to-date tech and innovations.

In this review, I will be testing the Seasonic TX-1600W Noctua Edition Titanium to see whether Seasonic’s legacy will remain unbeaten or the new players’ prodigy will snatch the victory crown.

Packaging & Unboxing

The PSU comes in a cardboard box with Noctua-themed brown and black colors.

There is styrofoam packing to protect the PSU. Accessories, cables, and the PSU itself, everything comes in good-quality pouches.

Design

We get to see Noctua branding on top, on a separate shroud that also makes up a unique spiral-shaped fan grill, along with their distinctive coloring scheme which matches well with the black color of the PSU.

It’s sad that almost every user will be installing this PSU in a traditional (and recommended) way where this top shroud will remain hidden. But at least you will still be able to see a slight glimpse of this shroud with “Prime Noctua Edition” markings.

The only major advancement we have seen happening for the fan inside the PSU is the Hybrid fan mode where the fan only starts spinning when the system pulls an adequate amount of load out of it. Even this Hybrid mode can be quite annoying because the continuous loop of fan starting and pausing then starting again can make the noise pretty much audible and considering the fact that almost every PSU use HBD/ FDB (Hydro/Fluid Dynamic Bearing) fans that have a tendency to produce slightly higher noise levels during the startup, this simply makes this Hybrid fan mode a curse to many!

Noctua on the other hand uses a slightly different bearing mechanism which they call SSO-Bearing (Self-Stabilizing Oil-pressure Bearing) which is more of an HBD/FDB variant but with an addition of a small magnet that stabilizes the rotor. During the startup of the fan, the magnet already helps keep the rotor to its precise axis, causing no grind while the lubricant inside the rotor spreads properly.

Cable & Connectors

The PSU comes with plenty of accessories and cables. There is even a PSU tester if you want to check the power supply before putting it in your PC. The cables are individually braided for a very premium feel, and of course, they have the brown/black combination to match the overall theme.

Seasonic TX-1600 Noctua Edition Titanium - 13 - Dual Native 12V-2x6 Connector
Dual Native 12V-2×6 Connector

Seasonic Prime TX-1600W Noctua Edition is among very few PSUs that have included dual native 12V-2×6 GPU power connectors. I highly appreciate and respect Seasonic and its marketing team for not jumping on the “AI” naming scheme’s hype train like almost every other brand these days and for leaving the use case and capabilities of 12V-2×6 power connectors to the common sense of the users.

Teardown & Component Analysis

The latest ATX 3.0/3.1 PSU specs from Intel forced PSU OEMs to finally revise the age-old PSU designs and where many renowned OEMs were quick to adopt these new changes and even improved their design further, Seasonic took way too long to revise their design. This is due to the fact that Seasonic had very few PSU model lineups and almost all of them were based on very similar platforms, making it harder for Seasonic to make their existing platforms’ design compatible with newer ATX 3.0/3.1 spec.

Seasonic TX-1600 Noctua Edition Titanium - 3 - PSU Teardown Top
PSU Teardown Top

Seasonic’s PSUs have always had a very distinctive look, due to their green mask PCB layer (which is very traditional in PCB manufacturing) and their bare aluminum heatsinks, which I have always liked.

With their new PSU lineups, Seasonic seemed to have gotten a bit of influence from current design trends and now we see a black PCB mask layer along with black aluminum heatsinks (maybe their previous old-school design wasn’t appealing to the..cough cough…Gen-Z)

Seasonic Prime TX-1600W Noctua Edition is no different than their previously launched Prime TX-1600W (non-Noctua Edition). We find exactly the same platform utilizing Interleaved Bridgeless PFC for improved efficiency over traditionally used APFC design. Where a few OEMs now adapting to a much higher efficiency design by incorporating Totem-Pole Bridgeless topology (as we saw in XPG Fusion 1600W Titanium) consisting of GaN MODFETs, I would have loved seeing similar advancement in Seasonic Prime TX-1600W Noctua Edition’s design at this point.

Even being a massive and densely populated platform, the distribution of the power delivery components is done quite well which is surely going to help in an adequate airflow. We get to see a decently sized heatsink for the Primary MOSFETs acting as a bridge rectifier converting AC to DC. The same goes for the Interleaved PFC as well as for the Full-Bridge MOSFETs that feed power to the main transformers.

Seasonic is using a dual Transformer design for generating all the required output voltage rails. For a 1600W of massive power output, using a single transformer is very challenging especially when it’s being driven by traditional MOSFETs & LLC resonant converters. The higher switching capability of GaN MODFETs can significantly reduce the size of the main transformer as well as it can add up to an improved voltage ripple performance.

12V rail MOSFETs are all soldered on the back of the PCB and top-mounted aluminum heatsinks are there to cool them off properly.

Seasonic has been using the same design aluminum heatsinks for 12V rail MOSFETs for well over a decade and I really gotta give it to their design engineers for designing something so effective that they still use it to this day! These top-mounted heatsinks allow proper mounting space for Polymer capacitors and keep the heat away from them, as a result significantly increasing capacitors’ lifespan.

Seasonic has rightfully earned its reputation with the absolute “Zero Compromises” approach when it comes to the selection of components inside its PSUs. The same goes for Seasonic TX-1600W Noctua Edition PSU which uses exceptional quality components as well as 100% Japanese Electrolytic and Polymer capacitors throughout.

Seasonic TX-1600W Noctua Edition uses Noctua NF-A12x25 HS-PWM 2400 RPM SSO Bearing (Self-Stabilizing Oil-pressure Bearing) fan which is unique to this PSU only as it offers slightly higher RPM than Noctua’s traditional fans. Not that this PSU (or any other that I know of) will be pumping the fan to its maximum RPM, so this is a bit strange to me. Regardless, this PSU will surely be the quietest peripheral in your PC.

PSU Load Testing

Seasonic PRIME TX-1600W Noctua Edition Titanium - PSU Testing
PSU Testing

Let’s go over the test results.

Voltage Regulation

Percentage Difference In 12V Rail Regulation 1000W+ (Jan-2025)
Difference In 12V Rail Regulation
Load in % 12V Rail 5V 3.3V
20% 11.88V 5.07V 3.33V
50% 11.84V 5.07V 3.33V
70% 11.84V 5.06V 3.32V
90% 11.82V 5.05V 3.32V
100% 11.81V 5.06V 3.32V

We see impressive voltage regulation performance throughout our different load variations. This PSU will have no trouble feeding power to multiple power-hungry GPUs.

PSU Efficiency

Average Efficiency 1000W+ (Jan-2025)
Average Efficiency
Load in % Efficiency Power Factor
20% 94.84% 0.919
50% 95.90% 0.957
70% 95.31% 0.966
90% 94.48% 0.975
100% 94.11% 0.978

Seasonic TX-1600W Noctua Edition didn’t have to struggle much in this test as it clearly delivers very impressive performance in this test. I think this is the most efficient PSU I have tested that is using Interleaved PFC and analog controllers and still performing this good. Power Factor readings though require better tuning but this has no effect on the end-user.

Voltage Ripple Performance

Maximum Ripple 1000W+ (Jan-2025)
Maximum Ripple
Load in % 12V Ripple
20% 10.4mV
50% 12.0mV
70% 14.0mV
90% 16.8mV
100% 20.0mV

This is the test where Seasonic & Corsair used to rule due to their extremely well-designed circuit layouts and carefully crafted and shielded transformers, but not anymore! Other OEMs have well caught up to making their platforms perform equally better these days.

Though the voltage ripple performance is still excellent, we have been seeing many competitive numbers these days like what we saw in Enermax PlatiGemini 1200W PSU in our review.

Temperature

Temperature on the back went as high as 54C and that’s because the 12V rail MOSFETs dumped in their heat on the back of the shroud via thick thermal pads.

Though Seasonic Prime TX-1600W Noctua Edition is the quietest PSU I have tested yet (thanks to Noctua’s NF-A12x25 HS-PWM 2400 RPM SSO Bearing fan), I still believe Seasonic could have tuned down the fan profile even more.

Should You Buy it?

Buy It If

✅You want reliability over anything: A well-proven design by a well-reputed brand backed by 12 years of peaceful and long-lasting relationships.

✅Your build centers around AI/ML with high GPU usage: Dual native 12V-2×6 GPU power connectors are going to easily handle the most power-hungry next-gen graphics processing monsters.

✅You prefer a quiet PSU: Along with the Hybrid fan mode, you still get the best and quietest fan inside.

Don’t Buy It If

❌You don’t want to overkill: Even many high-end gamers who are going to be using the latest spec systems will be better off with any 1200W Platinum-rated PSU with a single 12V-2×6 GPU power connector. If you’re not sure about your PC’s required wattage, we have developed a PSU Wattage Calculator tool to will help you figure it out.

❌You are not interested in Noctua: Even the Seasonic Prime TX-1600W PSU without a Noctua fan was already pretty impressive in performance as it’s the exact same PSU from the inside. So you will only be paying extra for the Noctua branding design and for its slightly quieter fan than Hong Hua’s FDB fan used in the aforementioned variant.

My Final Thoughts

The Seasonic Prime TX-1600W Noctua Edition lives up to Seasonic’s reputation for making reliable, high-performance power supplies. It combines a tried-and-true design with smart upgrades, like the ultra-quiet and durable Noctua fan, giving it a unique edge. However, this PSU isn’t for everyone. Its massive 1600W capacity is more than most gamers or even high-end PC builders will ever need—especially when a more affordable 1200W option could do the job. Plus, the premium price for the Noctua fan and branding might not make sense for those who don’t prioritize those features.

In short, this PSU delivers where it counts: reliability, efficiency, and top-notch performance. If you’re building a high-powered PC and want something quiet and rock-solid, the Noctua Edition is a fantastic choice. But if you’re after value and don’t need the extras, a lower-wattage model or the standard version might suit you better.

NVIDIA’s Claim On The RTX 50 Series Performance Simply Doesn’t Hold Up

Story Highlight
  • NVIDIA’s RTX 50 series GPUs offer lower generation-to-generation rasterization performance, with the RTX 4090 being ~72% faster than the 3090 while the 5090 is ~44% faster than the 4090.
  • The RTX 5070 only reaches the RTX 4090’s performance thanks to using DLSS 4, while the latter uses DLSS 3 in the official benchmarks. In pure rasterization, it may not even beat the RTX 4080.
  • NVIDIA changed the test’s outcome by using different Flux models to inflate the RTX 5090’s performance in the announcement.

Whenever one of the three PC giants announces their latest products there’s always a lot of speculation that gets thrown around. Two days ago NVIDIA announced their latest RTX 50 series GPUs with Jensen Huang, NVIDIA’s CEO, boasting some outstanding performance gains. However, is that all there is to it? Our close-up analysis says otherwise. NVIDIA’s claim on the RTX 50 series performance simply doesn’t hold up for several reasons and I will break them up for you so don’t go anywhere.

The Performance Gains Are Limited

The very first problem that we analyzed was the generation-on-generation performance gains. On paper, and during the announcement, the RTX 50 series might look like a sweet treat, but there’s quite a bit of poison hiding right underneath the eyes. The main reason why the RTX 50 series has such “astounding gains” is because of the latest DLSS 4 on which the GPUs were tested. But what happens when you test them on DLSS 3? Well, allow me to show you with the help of a graph we made based on NVIDIA’s CES announcement.

GeForce RTX 50 vs RTX 40 series performance gap
GeForce RTX 50 Series Performance Increase vs. GeForce RTX 40 Series Performance Based on Official Presentation. (Image By Tech4Gamers)

The above graph, according to our analysis, shows that “A Plague Tale Requiem” is up to ~44% faster with the RTX 5090 when compared with the RTX 4090 with DLSS 3.0. On the other hand, the same game is up to ~72% faster with the RTX 4090 when compared with the RTX 3090 under the same environment. Similarly, the RTX 5090 is up to ~27% faster in Far Cry 6 against the RTX 4090. However, the RTX 4090 is ~47% faster than the RTX 3090 in the same game.

What does this prove? Simply put, NVIDIA is focusing more on AI developments than the actual rasterization performance in their new GPUs. Personally, I wouldn’t have had much of an issue if it was announced upfront and the pricing wasn’t as ridiculous for the RTX 5090. Well, the RTX 5070’s claims aren’t up to snuff, either.

The RTX 5070 Can’t Be Equal To The RTX 4090

RTX 5090 installed on the test bench
The RTX 5090 installed on the test bench.

Simply based on the chart from above, it’s pretty clear that the claim of the RTX 5070 outperforming the RTX 4090 simply cannot be possible. Well, that is, unless you bring in DLSS 4. At that point, using frame generation isn’t actually improving the specific graphics card’s performance; it’s only making you feel like you’re getting more performance. In actuality, the GPU is performing much worse than whatever you’re competing it with.

Now, I don’t know about you, but I definitely wouldn’t want AI images dominating the screen when I’m playing a game. Sure, it’s cool to smoothen the FPS and squeeze some performance out of the GPU, but I just don’t endorse AI frame generation dominating pure rasterization performance. There is another reason why the RTX 5070 could have similar performance to the RTX 4090 in the official benchmarks which I will discuss below.

NVIDIA Rigged The Tests

RTX 5090 Vs RTX 4090 official benchmarks
Looking at NVIDIA’s official benchmarks from the CES announcement 2025. (Source: NVIDIA)

Yes, you read that right. At first glance it might be difficult to notice any rigging in the tests because they’re just graphs, right? Well, there’s a small piece of information NVIDIA mentioned in the benchmarks which more or less makes them bogus and irrelevant. You see, the details below the benchmarks are where the real game is happening, as identified by Playground.

To keep things easy to understand, NVIDIA used different Flux models to inflate the RTX 5090’s performance. For the RTX 5090, Flux models with FP4 compression were used which require half the memory and is less demanding on the graphics card. On the flip side, for the RTX 4090, Flux models with FP8 compression were used which puts more load on the graphics card.

The benchmarks are null at this point. The actual performance we’ll see whenever the GPUs are released won’t even be near to the improvements we saw two days ago during the announcement. This is why I said that NVIDIA’s claim on the RTX 50 series performance simply doesn’t hold up.

We Should Take Announcements With A Mouthful Of Salt

It used to be a “grain” of salt back in the day, but now we’re at a mouthful of salt with all the artificial benchmarks we’re shown in announcements by all three major companies. Well, AMD and Intel are still better… At least they don’t rig the tests completely like NVIDIA did this time around.

In any case, we will see some performance improvements, but nowhere close to whatever NVIDIA announced. It’ll be a miracle if the real-world performance is anywhere close. If you’re on an RTX 40 series GPU right now, I don’t see many reasons why you should upgrade to the RTX 50 series, considering that DLSS 4 will also be available for all previous GPUs.

All in all, you shouldn’t blindly trust announcements, but also shouldn’t be too disappointed about performance gains. Whenever NVIDIA releases these new GPUs in January, we will surely test them out and let you know how they perform!

Sony Establishes New Internal Studio In LA To Develop “High-Profile” Exclusive AAA IP

Story Highlight
  • Sony has established a new internal studio in LA to develop an AAA entry in a new unknown franchise.
  • The studio wants to reimagine the development process with a lean and highly efficient approach.
  • The developers are also using Agile development techniques, so the game might launch earlier than we suspect.

Ubisoft Potentially Looking For A Buyout Amid Assassin’s Creed Shadows Second Delay

Story Highlight
  • Ubisoft has delayed Assassin’s Creed Shadows for the second time now.
  • The gaming giant seems to be betting everything on this game as its value in the market has fallen quite low.
  • It is also looking for potential buyouts as the company is pursuing various transformational strategic and capitalistic options.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows has been delayed for the second time by Ubisoft, as the gaming giant seems to be concerned about the final product. Star Wars Outlaws was a commercial failure, and many made fun of it on launch due to its poor gameplay

Fearing the same for AC Shadows, Ubisoft is taking it seriously this time, polishing the gameplay as much as possible by accounting the player feedback. This means spending more and more resources and given Ubisoft’s current situation; it doesn’t seem ideal.

The gaming giant seems to be looking for a potential buyout while going all out on Assassin’s Creed Shadows.

Why it matters: Delaying Shadow for the second time is a hint that Ubisoft is a little desperate and is betting everything on it. There are bankruptcy concerns, too, so it might get acquired soon enough.

Ubisoft Potential Buyout After Assassin's Creed Shadows Delay
Ubisoft Seems To Be Looking For A Potential Buyout After Delaying AC Shadows For The Second Time | Source: Official Press Release

Ubisoft announced today that it has appointed leading advisors to review and pursue various transformational strategic and capitalistic options to extract the best value for stakeholders.

The gaming giant isn’t in good condition, which is a given. The last 5 years have been hell for it as the company’s stock has been falling down constantly. An extremely successful launch of AC Shadows might be the only way to save it

However, it may not be enough, ultimately leading to a buyout. Guillemot family already seems interested in a buyout acquisition with Tencent, which won’t really be an ideal situation, given the Chinese company’s reputation in the gaming industry

Assassins-Creed-Shadows
Assassin’s Creed Shadows Can Help The Company Survive For Longer In The Industry

At one point, fans were practically praying for Ubisoft to shut down. The director claimed those persons to be non-decent human beings and said, “How can you wish for a company to fail.”

Hopefully, the Assassin’s Creed Shadows will be the breakthrough Ubisoft needs as it finally implements fans’ feedback. The company is also making some serious cost reductions. It now expects “to exceed €200 million in reduction of its fixed cost base by FY2025-26 vs. FY2022-23 on an annualized basis.”

What do you think about one of the most iconic developers doing down this path? Do you think buyout is the best choice for it, or can Assassin’s Creed Shadows save Ubisoft? Share your thoughts with us in the comments section below or join the discussion at the official Tech4Gamers forums

Assassin’s Creed Shadows Delayed Again, Launching March 20

Story Highlight
  • Assassin’s Creed Shadows was delayed last year as it wasn’t in a condition to be released.
  • The gaming giant has spent a lot of additional resources on it and made massive improvements.
  • However, despite such improvements it is delaying the game once again as AC Shadows’ new release date is March 20.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows was delayed following the poor sales of Star Wars Outlaws. Due to the poor sales of one of its major games, the company’s value went downhill and is still trying to recover.

So, the gaming giant couldn’t have endured another failure last year, which is exactly why it delayed the Assassin’s Creed title. The game was supposed to be released on 14 February 2025 after the delay, but now Ubisoft has delayed it again, and it will be launching on 20th March.

Why it matters: Ubisoft’s current condition isn’t good, as reports highlight that it could go bankrupt in 2025. However, a successful AC Shadows launch could change the trajectory the company is heading to.

Assassin's Creed Shadows Delayed Again
Ubisoft Reveals That AC Shadows Has Been Delayed Once Again For Further Improvements | Source: Twitter

Just recently, the game’s official Twitter account has revealed that the next mainline title in the franchise, Assassin’s Creed Shadows is being delayed yet again. The developers are taking over a month to make even more tweaks so the fandom has the best experience.

We believe a few additional weeks are needed to implement feedback and ensure an even more ambitious and engaging day-one experience.

-Ubisoft

The gaming giant has provided a strategic update revealing that it is focusing on gameplay quality and providing engaging day-1 gameplay experiences to the fandom. To make that happen, delaying Assassin’s Creed Shadows one more time was kind of necessary as now, the developers will implement the player feedback gathered over the past 3 months.

Just recently, Ubisoft also revealed a lot more information about the enhanced pakour system along with footage. The improvements were actually notable as Ubisoft is now taking the game seriously, given the company’s condition is pretty serious

Fans who have been looking forward to the title will have to wait a little longer now, but it will be worth it, as playing a game in its best condition is way better.

What do you think about Assassin’s Creed Shadows being delayed yet again? Do you think it is putting everything on the upcoming AC title? Share your thoughts with us in the comment section below or join the official Tech4Gamers forums for discussion.

PC Game Pass Rolled Out 137 Games Valued at $4,800 in 2024

Story Highlight
  • PC Game Pass added over 130 games last year.
  • It has been reported that the added games are worth $4,800.
  • Over 35 games were day-one releases on the platform.

While 2024 was a roller coaster year for Microsoft, as the company made so many changes to its strategy, Xbox Game Pass remains one of its strengths.

A recent report suggests that PC Game Pass rolled out over 135 games last year, valued at $4,800.

Why it matters: PC Game Pass has proven to be a value-for-money subscription over the years, and the report confirms it.

PC Game Pass
PC Game Pass Added A Total of 137 Games Last Year.

A recent report from PCgamesN confirms that PC Game Pass released 137 games worth around $4,800 last year.

Around 10 new games were added to the platform each month, consisting of one or two day-one releases. The Pass costs around $12 per month, so offering over $400 of just new games every month is pretty impressive from the service.

While 37-day-one releases are already impressive enough, it included the biggest first-party titles from Microsoft last year, such as Call of Duty Black Ops 6, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, and Hellblade 2.

Massive third-party releases, such as Manor Lords, Palworld, Frostpunk 2, and Dungeons of Hinterberg, came out on day one on PC Game Pass.

Xbox Game Pass
Game Pass Could Be Coming To Steam.

Some of the most popular titles of recent times, like Diablo 4, Modern Warfare 3, Ark Survival Ascended, and Lords of the Fallen, were among the titles added to the platform in 2024.

Therefore, 2024 was another great year for PC Game Pass users. While it’s obvious that nobody could play every game released on the service last year, at least they had a massive library to choose from.

Nonetheless, 2025 looks better than last year, with more first-party releases like Doom: The Dark Ages, Fable, and others planned for release on the subscription service.

What were your favorite titles released on the subscription service last year? Which game are you excited the most about in 2025? Let us know in the comments or be a part of the Tech4Gamers Forum.

Half-Life 3 Reveal Is Just Around The Corner, Unexpected Valve’s Steam Page Update Confirms

Story Highlight
  • The Half-Life 3 reveal is suspected to be just around the corner by a massive Steam page update by Valve.
  • The publisher’s Steam page shows that there is another upcoming entry that is coming soon besides Deadlock.
  • The page was apparently updated on December 29, but take the findings with a pinch of salt.

Half-Life 3 is arguably one of the most awaited releases in the entirety of the gaming industry—and for all the good reasons. Valve has managed to build a lot of hype regarding the next entry in the popular franchise without revealing any information at all.

However, the publisher might have finally let us in on an unexpected, albeit completely accidental, official update.

Valve’s Steam page was updated to suggest the studio is cooking up two upcoming releases. One of these games is Deadlock, but the other is not listed anywhere at all.

Now, fans think this mystery title is Half-Life 3, based on all the rumors that have been circulating since last year.

Why it matters: An update for Valve’s Steam page confirms that there are two upcoming releases by the publisher. One of them is Deadlock; the other is suspected to be Half-Life 3 based on previous rumors.

Valve’s Steam page update shows that there is another upcoming release besides Deadlock.

The publisher’s Steam page was allegedly updated after December 29 to show that there are 2 upcoming titles instead of only Deadlock, according to the Wayback Machine. This massive mishap could just be a glitch, as many have argued.

Some Half-Life 3 fans argue that this update is intentional and Valve deliberately altered the ‘upcoming releases’ tab. This theory is supported because the studio should have fixed the Steam page if it was just an error.

Previously, an insider claimed Half-Life 3 features gravity manipulation, water physics, dismemberment, and mesh shaders for the game and is already in the closed early playtesting stage.

Needless to say, it is best to take the new update on Valve’s publisher Steam page update with a pinch of salt.

Sweet Baby Actively Involved In Remedy’s ‘Unannounced’ Game Despite Controversies

Story Highlight
  • Sweet Baby Inc. writer and narrative designer, Maxine, is actively working on Remedy’s unannounced game.
  • The employee’s involvement suggests that the mystery project might feature criticized heavy DEI elements.
  • DEI involvement in games has become a sensitive and controversial topic over the years.

The last few years in the gaming scene have been rife with debates surrounding the DEI arguments. Many games that included forced diversity and woke elements, like Dragon Age: The Veilguard, failed to meet any expectations—with some outright flopping after launch.

This recurring theme has proven that deliberate inclusive features never sit right with the wider gaming audience. However, Remedy seems to ignore these arguments entirely, as its upcoming and unannounced game is expected to go all-in with DEI elements.

Why it matters: Controversies surrounding DEI elements in Alan Wake 2 have already worried fans for Remedy’s unannounced title, which is actively involving a Sweet Baby Inc. writer and narrative designer.

Maxine Sofia Wolff
Sweet Baby Inc.’s writer and narrative designer is actively involved with Remedy’s unannounced title.

Sweet Baby Inc.’s writer and narrative designer, Maxine Sofia Wolff, is actively writing for an unannounced Remedy title, as clarified on a personal website.

It’s worth noting that Maxine has also worked on Alan Wake 2 to provide narrative consultation—and did additional writing for the Suicide Squad game, which miserably failed after launch.

These tidbits further fuel the debate that Remedy’s next title will allegedly be plagued by unnecessary DEI elements.

On the flip side of the argument, Alan Wake 2 was arguably quite timid with the DEI bits compared to the other industry flops like Concord and Dustborn.

Alan Wake 2
Alan Wake 2’s Saga was heavily criticized for allegedly being race-swapped to forcefully promote DEI.

An ex-Sweet Baby Inc. employee also openly claimed that the firm wouldn’t stop with its agenda despite the backlash. But it is best to take these implications with a pinch of salt since we know nothing about the game yet.

AMD RX 9070 XT Leak Suggests Competitive $479 Launch Price

Story Highlight
  • The Radeon RX 9070XT series may have a reference model priced at $479, with custom AIB models expected to cost around $549.
  • The review embargo for RDNA4 cards, including the Radeon RX 9070 series, is reportedly set to lift on January 22.
  • AMD may be trying to divert attention from NVIDIA’s upcoming RTX 5080 launch on January 30.

The reviewer from Chiphell has just disclosed a potential review embargo date for the Radeon RX 9070 series in a new thread.

According to the discussion, the reference Radeon RX 9070 XT could cost $479. While custom AIB models are expected to go for $549. However, price rumors are rarely true as we have learned from the launch of the GeForce RTX 5000 series.

Why it matters: If the rumored prices are accurate, the AMD Radeon 9700XT could be a great choice for those seeking performance similar to the RTX 4080 Super.

That said the embargo for RDNA 4 cards is reportedly set to end on January 22. This date may represent the removal of the review embargo or the release of the complete specifications, for the upcoming AMD Radeon RX 9070 series.

It seems AMD is trying to shift consumer’s focus away from NVIDIA’s upcoming RTX 5080 launch on January 30. However, even if AMD’s card performs and is priced as expected, NVIDIA’s faster GPUs could still steal the spotlight.

AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT will arrive with 4,096 Stream processors at a Turbo frequency of 3,060 MHz along with 16 GB of GDDR6 memory at 20 Gbps manufactured by Hynix.

That being said the new Radeon RX 9700 series looks promising, with performance ranging from GeForce RTX 4070 Ti to RTX 4080 Super. AMD is also likely to improve its chances of success with the introduction of its new FSR 4 upscaling technology, though it is exclusive to the 9070 series.

With better rasterization, ray tracing, and an improved AI-based upscaling technology, AMD could outshine its rival, Nvidia. However, only time will tell how the new RDNA 4 will stack against Blackwell.
