Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remake Reportedly Comes Out Summer 2025

Story Highlight
  • Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remake is allegedly coming out in late spring or early summer this year.
  • It is rumoured to be in development by Virtuous Entertainment and features a lot of gameplay enhancements.
  • Xbox did not announce the remake at its latest Developer Direct, but more information is expected soon.

After having a dry spell for the last two years, Xbox appears to be loaded with many confirmed releases for 2025. However, it has still yet to announce Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remake, which is one of the most anticipated new titles.

Now, one of the most credible industry insiders says that the remake of the RPG is coming out sooner than we expected this year.

Why it matters: If the rumors from various sources are to be believed, the Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remake might turn out to be one of Xbox’s unexpected surprises despite not appearing at Developer Direct this year.

The Elder Scrolls 6
Elder Scrolls 6 is also in development, which might not satisfy everyone, according to a Bethesda veteran.

In a new newsletter for The Verge, Tom Warren mentions that Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remake is set to launch during the late spring or early summer 2025 period. An exact release date still remains unknown, however.

For those not in the know, another rumor also suggested that Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remake was headed for a release this year. So, the release window appears to be pretty credible.

It is reportedly in development by Virtuous Entertainment using a blend of Unreal Engine 5 and the game’s original engine. The remake is expected to feature many enhancements that add to the survival and gameplay experience.

Elder Scrolls 5
The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remake has been reportedly in development for a few years now.

However, it is best to take this rumor mill with a pinch of salt, as the title has yet to be officially announced by Xbox. For all we know, it might turn out to be a measly remaster, like another string of rumors suggested last year.

Will the rumored remake meet everyone’s expectations, or are we just looking at a visual upgrade? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below, or join the discussion on the official Tech4Gamers forum.

Ninja Gaiden 4 To Be Extremely Difficult Like Its Predecessors, Assures Director

Story Highlight
  • Ninja Gaiden 4 director and producer Yuji Nakao claims that the game will be quite difficult, like in past releases in the series.
  • It won’t hold your hands and will be strongly influenced by Team Ninja’s hard-to-play Ninja Gaiden 2.
  • Enemies will be tough to face and organic to fight against, but the player will never feel disadvantaged in the process.

This year’s Xbox Developer Direct event was arguably one of the best ones we’ve had in a while, with Ninja Gaiden 4 stealing the spotlight for many series veterans and new fans alike. However, there have been concerns regarding how the duo of PlatinumGames and Team Ninja will handle the highly awaited sequel.

Gamers are specifically worried about the sequel’s difficulty, given how tough and satisfying past entries in the franchise have been. Now, the game’s director and producer has confirmed that Ninja Gaiden 4 certainly won’t be a walk in the park.

Why it matters: Ninja Gaiden 4 needs to be difficult enough that the franchise’s veteran and newer fans can both be satisfied but not so hard that the gameplay feels unfair and difficulty forced.

Ninja Gaiden 4
Ninja Gaiden 4’s announcement took the world by storm during the Xbox Developer Direct event.

During an interview with Xbox Wire, Yuji Nakao clarified that Ninja Gaiden 4 will be strongly influenced by one of the series’ hardest entries, Ninja Gaiden 2. The difficulty level will be similar, which we can already experience in the new Ninja Gaiden 2 Black remake.

I believe [the difficulty level of] NINJA GAIDEN 2 had a lot of standout qualities, and I think fans will feel its influence strongly throughout NINJA GAIDEN 4.

Additionally, PlatinumGames and Team Ninja are combining the ‘best aspects of the series’ and elevating them to make a title worthy of the current generation. In other words, we can expect lightning-fast combat, jaw-dropping visuals, and certainly no shortage of chunky gore bits and blood spills during battles.

Ninja Gaiden 4
Ninja Gaiden 4 is greatly influenced by Team Ninja’s Ninja Gaiden 2.

The developers still need to balance gameplay for old and new fans alike, so it will be interesting to see how they handle difficulty.

Do you think Ninja Gaiden 4 will live up to the expectations of fans and newcomers alike, or will the difficulty be too brutal? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below, or join the discussion on the official Tech4Gamers forum.

KCD2 and AC Shadows Now Top Pre-Ordered Games On PS5 Despite Controversies

Story Highlight
  • KCD2 and AC Shadows are among the top sellers on the PS Store.
  • Both titles have been part of huge controversies regarding DEI implementation.
  • Ubisoft has a lot riding on Assassin’s Creed Shadows since it could save or end the company.

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 and Assassin’s Creed Shadows are two of the biggest topics of debate in the gaming industry these days. While it was anticipated that their sales would suffer due to all the recent controversies, both titles seem to be doing quite well.

On the PlayStation Store, Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 and Assassin’s Creed Shadows are among the top-selling games.

Why it matters: Assassin’s Creed Shadows is somewhat a make-or-break title for Ubisoft, so it will be hoping the sales turn out well. Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 also has a lot riding on it.

Surprisingly, people are also interested in buying the more expensive editions of both these titles. So, the Gold and Deluxe editions of KCD2 and AC Shadows have made it into the top-sellers list on the PS Store.

Moreover, Doom: The Dark Ages Premium Edition makes the list. KCD2 and AC Shadows also had a bit of a rivalry in the past, so it is quite interesting to see them both at the top of the list.

The last trailer for Assassin’s Creed Shadows has turned a lot of heads towards it. Apart from the Japanese culture controversy, the game now looks fun with improved combat, parkour, and stealth, and could still save Ubisoft from bankruptcy.

As for Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, it was never a bad-looking game in the first place. The controversies began when it was banned in Saudi Arabia for immoral scenes. Overall, the previews were quite positive and sales point toward a potential hit.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows could be a make-and-break for Ubisoft

Ultimately, both the games are very close to release now. The studios for both of the titles will be hoping for positive results, especially Ubisoft who is losing stocks at a very fast pace and faces the threat of being acquired.

Hardware Still Key Component Of Xbox Brand Despite Multiplatform Strategy, Says Phil Spencer

Story Highlight
  • The Xbox CEO says that gaming hardware is still a key component of their brand.
  • Now lacking exclusivity due to its multiplatform strategy, Xbox aims to compete with hardware capabilities.
  • The next-gen Xbox consoles could arrive in 2026, a year before PlayStation 6, as per reports.

Xbox has been making some unorthodox decisions for the past few years, and many fans have even questioned its long-term goals and whether the gaming giant wants to continue making consoles.

However, in a new interview, Xbox CEO Phil Spencer stated that the hardware part of the brand is still integral. Moreover, he said that he isn’t trying to restrict any game from other platforms.

Why it matters: Due to Xbox’s multiplatform strategy, it was speculated that the gaming giant would become a publisher instead of a console manufacturer. This news confirms that it still plans to be a key player in the hardware league.

The Next Generation Will Mark Microsoft’s Debut In The Handheld Console Market

In an interview with Gamertag Radio, Phil Spencer discussed his plans for future hardware.

I look at hardware as a critical part of what we do, but not trying to gatekeep the games off of other places.

During the same interview, he pointed out how Xbox’s hardware should win based on its own merits instead of exclusives. Much like the Xbox Series X was more powerful than the PS5, Phil Spencer wants future hardware to offer key advantages that make it desirable.

We want our hardware to win based on the capabilities we have.

Still, from this point, Xbox’s roadmap looks tougher than ever. The gaming giant will no longer have exclusive titles to attract people to its platform, and multiplatform releases will undermine the benefits of recent acquisitions.

Final Fantasy 7 Xbox
The Age Of Console Exclusivity Is Seemingly Over

If past reports hold true, the next Xbox consoles will be released in 2026, tracking one year ahead of the next-gen PlayStation console, giving Microsoft a potential edge.

Moreover, the CEO teased what will be Xbox’s first handheld console. Previously, Xbox revealed its plan to extend its ecosystem to other handheld consoles, and it seems that Xbox wants to take over the handheld market.

GeForce RTX 5080 Leak Points To 90% Performance of RTX 4090

Story Highlight
  • The RTX 5080 shows a 22% improvement over the RTX 4080 in Vulkan but only a 6.7% boost in OpenCL.
  • The RTX 5080 is expected to deliver about 90% of the performance of the RTX 4090.
  • Potential buyers should wait for official reviews before making any decisions.

A series of recently leaked benchmarks have made public the performance results of Nvidia’s future GeForce RTX 5080 GPU.

The GeForce RTX 5080 was observed on the Geekbench browser during OpenCL and Vulkan benchmark testing, and based on its performance, it might not be as fast as some had hoped for.

Why it matters: The GeForce RTX 5080 performance results could impact gamers and professionals deciding between upgrading to the latest GPU or sticking with their current setup, especially since custom variants of the card are expected to cost an arm and a leg.

Benchleaks was the first to notice the benchmark data, which appears to have been accidentally released by a reviewer. As per the data, the RTX 5080 under test was an MSI-branded variant bearing the MS-7E62 model number.

In Geekbench, the RTX 5080 received a score of 256,138 in the OpenCL test and 261,836 in the Vulkan benchmark. In Vulkan, the RTX 5080 performs about 22% faster than its predecessor, the RTX 4080, on average. However, OpenCL scores are more limited, only increasing by 6.7%.

The leaked benchmarks indicate that the RTX 5080 may not outperform the RTX 4090. Furthermore, according to 2kliksphilip, the GeForce RTX 5080 might offer 90% performance of the GeForce RTX 4090.

His data was based on comparing CUDA Cores and the frequency bump of GeForce RTX 5080 compared to its predecessor.

RTX 50 Series Performance Estimates via 2kliksphilip

The data suggests that the trend of 80-class GPUs outperforming 90-class GPUs from the previous generation might shift, potentially due to Nvidia cutting down these graphics cards and holding them back from their full potential.

Nvidia may also release more powerful RTX 50-series cards later down the line through a Super refresh. As such, the gaming giant may have left room to fit in a few more models between the RTX 5080 and 5090.

Xbox Recorded Its Worst Yearly Console Sales Numbers Ever in 2024

Story Highlight
  • Xbox just sold 2.7 million consoles this year in the US compared to last year’s 3.8 million.
  • This has led to the company recording its worst console sales ever in 2024.
  • Xbox has shifted its attention more towards publishing rather than hardware.

It is no surprise that Xbox is in a state of crisis with its hardware market. The Series X and S haven’t sold even close to what Microsoft might have expected, and new data shows that Xbox recorded its worst yearly console sales ever in 2024.

The new Xbox never really took off, and Microsoft even admitted to losing the console wars a couple of years ago. Since then, the sales have declined even further despite putting Activision Blizzard titles on Game Pass.

Why it matters: As Xbox sales dip, Microsoft has taken a different route. It is now focusing more on publishing that hardware, but it still has plans for a next-gen Xbox in 2026.

According to a video from Welfare that compiled data from Circana, Xbox hardware saw such a massive decline last year that it registered its worst-ever US sales in 2024. It managed to sell just 2.7 million units compared to 3.8 million in 2023.

In contrast, the PS5 recorded over 4 million sales, leading to over 70 million lifetime units sold, making it the best-selling console of the year. The sales even overtook those of PS4 in the US, compared to the same time frame.

These results were anticipated, considering Xbox hasn’t left much of a reason to buy its consoles. For the longest time, all Xbox games have launched on PC and Game Pass on day one, and even PS5 will get games like Doom, Halo, and more.

PlayStation Xbox Market
PlayStation continued to dominate the market share in 2024.

This makes it interesting to see the direction Xbox is headed in the future. Based on the rumored next-gen console, it isn’t giving up on hardware just yet; however, the sales will yet again be a huge question mark.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows: Ubisoft Removes Yasuke From Pre-order Banner

Story Highlight
  • Assassin’s Creed Shadows continues to see controversy around Yasuke.
  • The character has been removed from the game’s pre-order banner, indicating a more aggressive marketing push toward Naoe.
  • Ubisoft made similar moves in the past, highlighting that these steps have been taken as a direct result of recent backlash.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows has seen its fair share of controversies. With many pointing to Yasuke’s status as a non-samurai, the lack of historical accuracy, and more, this particular Ubisoft release has been in hot waters for many months now.

Fortunately for Ubisoft, discussions around the game have been more positive lately. The gaming giant also appears to have shifted its marketing strategy away from Yasuke. As an example, the studio seems to have removed the character from the pre-order banner.

Why it matters: Ubisoft is betting big on its flagship title since the studio has suffered various financial disappointments in recent years.

Assassin's Creed Shadows
Assassin’s Creed Shadows Pre-order Banner Comparison via Neogaf

Head over to the Assassin’s Creed Shadows Ubisoft page, and you’ll find Naoe prominently featured on the very first slide that advertises a pre-order.

This isn’t too shocking considering Naoe’s role as one of the game’s leads, but as pointed out, this exact banner previously featured both Yasuke and Naoe. It seems this is a small course correction by Ubisoft as it attempts to shift attention away from the game’s controversies.

This is also not the first time corrections have been made regarding Yasuke. The gaming giant previously removed mentions of him being a samurai on the official Assassin’s Creed Shadows Steam page, likely due to the discourse around his status in Japanese history.

It is important to note that Yasuke is still featured on the store page. However, the initial few slides are all based on Naoe, further exemplifying the shift in attention. Yasuke was previously the focus of Ubisoft’s marketing.

Assassin's Creed Shadows
Yasuke’s Inclusion As A Protagonist Continues To Be Problematic For Ubisoft

Anyhow, Yasuke remains a major part of the Assassin’s Creed Shadows experience. His heavy-hitting combat style helps add variety to Ubisoft’s RPG formula, making it all too important to completely ignore so late into the game’s development.

Ubisoft’s latest RPG addition to the franchise arrives in just a few more months, and the publisher is hoping for a major success in the wake of potential buyouts and financial bankruptcy.

What are your thoughts on the changes in pre-order banners? Let’s discuss this in the comments; you can also visit the Tech4Gamers Forums for more in-depth discussions.

Inside DLSS 4: What Nvidia’s New AI Model Means For Gamers

Story Highlights
  • DLSS 4 uses a new AI model for smoother visuals and sharper images and supports all RTX cards.
  • It reduces GPU strain but doesn’t fully eliminate input delay, especially in competitive gaming.
  • Nvidia sets a new standard with DLSS 4, delivering better performance and visuals across setups.

Nvidia stole the show at CES 2025 by introducing a new graphics card, the RTX 5090, priced under $2,000. While the success wasn’t solely dependent on groundbreaking graphics technology, Nvidia showcased many new advancements, including DLSS 4, paired with the latest graphics card.

The DLSS 4 promises to boost game performance by up to 4X across over 75 supported games thanks to its new multi-frame generation feature. Despite DLSS 4 hype, many are unaware of how it works and how it differs from earlier versions. Let’s clarify the myths surrounding DLSS 4.

What’s New And How DLSS 4 Works

Nvidia made major improvements in DLSS 3 and introduced DLSS 4 with its new graphics card. One of the biggest changes is its new multi-frame generation feature, which creates extra frames between two rendered ones, making gaming visuals much smoother.

Inside DLSS 4
How DLSS4 Works

Nvidia’s CEO claimed that DLSS 4 can “predict the future,” which sounds futuristic but not as it claims. This refers to frame interpolation, a method used in DLSS 3, AMD’s FSR 3, and others. Frame interpolation calculates a new frame between two rendered ones, saving processing power and improving animation smoothness.

Jensen Huang’s statement is a simplified or exaggerated phrase meant to help a broader audience understand the concept behind the frame generation process. While DLSS 4 builds on existing methods, it brings significant advancements. This marks a major leap for Nvidia’s GPUs, built on years of research and testing.

What Gamers Need To Know About Latency

Latency is the delay between your actions and what you see on the screen. Some may think that extra frame generation between the already rendered ones will cause higher latency, but this is not the case.

Each frame stays on screen for about 16.6 milliseconds when you’re playing at 60 fps. DLSS 3 doubles the frame rate to 120 fps, but the time between frames stays the same.

DLSS 4 goes even further, increasing the frame rate to 240 fps, and the time between frames doesn’t change either. The delay caused by adding extra frames is always the same, no matter how many new frames are added.

Nvidia DLSS 4.0 RTX 40 Series
Improved Frame Generation

According to tests by Digital Foundry, DLSS 4 might slightly increase the delay with extra frame generation, but buffering the first frame causes more delay than the extra frames created later. So, the latency of DLSS 3 and DLSS 4 is the same, and extra frames don’t cause a huge increase in input lag.

Nvidia’s Reflex technology reduces latency by ensuring that frames are shown and inputs are processed at the same time, so the game feels smooth and responsive with DLSS 4 as well. Enjoy the gaming experience without worrying about slow reactions.

What Makes DLSS 4 Different?

DLSS 4 makes a huge difference in performance and visual appearance due to its new AI model. The vision transformer model, a new AI model in DLSS 4, replaces the old method, Convolutional Neural Network. This method brings two important improvements: self-attention and scalability.

Nvidia Trained DLSS 6 years
DLSS4 Learning

Self-attention means that if a specific part of your image is flickering or shimmering, the model will focus on that to provide a better result. As a result, your image will look sharper and more stable, and you will experience fewer visual problems and a smoother experience with DLSS 4.

Scalability is another advantage of the new transformer model. The new model can handle more complex tasks because it has more power compared to the old method. This scalability allows DLSS 4 to work well on a wide range of Nvidia RTX graphics cards, from the latest 50-series cards to older ones.

DLSS 4 For Every Gamer

The main advantage of DLSS 4 is that it reduces GPU strain by helping games run smoother at higher resolutions. If you have a mid-range computer, you can still play demanding games on ultra settings. However, remember that input delay won’t be eliminated due to frame interpolation, especially in competitive games.

DLSS 4 features
DLSS4 Features

Additionally, Nvidia has confirmed that the new AI model will be compatible with all RTX graphics cards, although some features may be limited depending on the card. This ensures that more players can enjoy the technology without needing to buy the latest hardware.

As we await the launch of the RTX 50-series, one thing is clear: DLSS 4 is set to redefine gaming, setting a new benchmark for performance and quality. Whether you’re a casual player or a competitive enthusiast, this technology promises to enhance your gaming experience in previously unimaginable ways.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage Reportedly Getting A DLC Almost 2 Years Into The Game’s Launch

Story Highlight
  • Ubisoft has reportedly entered a new partnership with Savvy Games Group.
  • Following the partnership, a new DLC on Assassin’s Creed Mirage is being worked on.
  • Initially hesitant to work on the DLC, Savvy Games Group was able to change Ubisoft’s decision.

While we’re just a couple of months away from Assassin’s Creed Shadows’ launch, a new report suggests that we’re not entirely done with Assassin’s Creed Mirage yet. According to French website Les Echos, Ubisoft has now entered a new partnership with Savvy Games Group.

According to the same report, the partnership with a Saudi-owned investment company has led to the development of a new DLC for Assassin’s Creed Mirage, a game released in 2023.

Why it matters: The development of a new expansion for Assassin’s Creed Mirage seems quite odd, considering the game was once a DLC. Moreover, all the hype is currently surrounding Assassin’s Creed Shadows, which will launch on March 20th.

Assassin's Creed Mirage
More Linear Games Like Assassin’s Creed Mirage Expected In The Franchise.

The report reveals that Ubisoft was hesitant about the DLC development since it wouldn’t benefit the game’s release. However, after Ubisoft president Yves Guillemot visited Saudi Arabia, they were able to change his decision.

The new DLC would reportedly be funded majorly by Savvy Games Group. It is speculated that more content for Mirage is needed to make the game further appealing to Middle-Eastern audiences.

Assassin's Creed Mirage
Assassin’s Creed Mirage Was A Love Letter To Older Games From The Series.

Ubisoft was already looking for a potential buy-out option as the worst-case scenario, and it seems like the alleged business partnership with Savvy Games Group might be the French publisher’s calling.

According to the report, it is likely that the DLC is still in its early stages of development. Perhaps we will learn more about the expansion later this year at the Ubisoft Forward, usually held sometime around summer.

Rockstar Might Be Forced To Price GTA 6 Above $70, Conclude Journalists

Story Highlight
  • Highly experienced gaming journalists from IGN think that Rockstar would be forced to price the upcoming GTA above $70.
  • The gaming giant may price its upcoming game over $70 as it has spent a massive amount of money on it already.
  • Despite the price tag, GTA 6 is guaranteed to sell like hotcakes.

Rockstar is currently fully focused on GTA 6, as the game is set to release later this year. While there hasn’t been a second trailer yet, fans have high expectations, and the hype is touching the roof.

That said, there has been one concern going on for a while now. Many fans and analysts are thinking that Rockstar’s upcoming GTA won’t be priced at $70. Instead, it may go up to $100, which would set a precedent for others to follow.

Many developers are hoping for Rockstar to do this so they could also follow this trend and it seems like the gaming giant might just do it

Why it matters: Rockstar doesn’t need to put the price tag of $80-100 on GTA 6 to make it profitable, as we all know it is going to break all the records in the industry at launch. However, would it say no to more money? Absolutely not.

Journalists from IGN, one of the biggest gaming media, have concluded in a podcast that Rockstar may be forced to increase the price tag for its upcoming game and its believable.

Yes, they will because they can because they are a for-profit company that answers to shareholders, and so it absolutely will happen. If they sell only 90 million copies at 100 bucks vs selling 100 million copies at 70 bucks, whatever the math works out, they make more money. That’s what they are going to do.

-Ryan McCaffrey

McCaffrey further said that there is no morality in it, there’s no emotion in it. It’s just what makes them the most money. This take does make sense, as pricing the game above $70 is surely going to bring more profit.

The Upcoming GTA Will Likely Break All Records In The Gaming Industry

Rockstar is heavily invested in the upcoming GTA, so witnessing a $100 price tag for the game won’t be surprising. Despite the price tag, the game is guaranteed to sell millions of copies on launch. Fans are even willing to spend $150 for it.

Developers are also relying on Rockstar to set a precedent so they can follow suit. This could also become one of the main reasons the developer increases the price tag. Hopefully, Rockstar won’t increase the price threshold way too much, as it will turn the gaming industry upside down.

What are your thoughts on this matter? Will you buy the game if it is priced at $100? Share your thoughts with us in the comments section below or join the official Tech4Gamers forums for discussions.

Will Samsung’s Odyssey 3D Monitor Transform Gaming?

Story Highlights
  • Samsung’s Odyssey 3D offers glasses-free 3D gaming with eye-tracking and eye-mapping technology.
  • The First Berserker’s impressive visuals highlight its potential, but Samsung needs to build a larger game library to compete.
  • The Odyssey 3D success highly depends on game developer support and a 2D-to-3D conversion solution.

Odyssey 3D monitor, a new Samsung product, captured the gaming world’s attention with its ability to deliver 3D visuals without the need for glasses. As a prototype at CES 2024 and then at Gamescom 2024, its eye-tracking and eye-mapping technology surprised people, though it had some problems then.

Now, at CES 2025, the Odyssey 3D monitor is a product that is ready to launch, but only limited games are supported. However, with strong competition from brands like Acer, let’s see if Samsung’s Odyssey 3D monitor really changes gaming or struggles to compete in the market.

Glasses-Free 3D Gaming

The Odyssey 3D monitor is intriguing because it displays 3D visuals without requiring headsets or glasses, eliminating many issues associated with older 3D monitors. Showcased at CES 2025, the improved Odyssey 3D stood out for its capability to sustain the 3D effect seamlessly, even as viewers move their heads in any direction.

While the hardware remains nearly identical to last year’s prototype, a software update has significantly enhanced performance. One game optimized for the Odyssey 3D is The First Berserker, which was showcased at CES 2025. It featured falling snow and flying sparks that added stunning depth, making the Odyssey 3D experience feel lifelike.

Samsung’s glasses-free 3D gaming concept has the potential to stand out in the market. It offers a more comfortable and flexible gaming experience without needing a fixed viewing position to enjoy the 3D visuals.

This advancement in glasses-free 3D gaming makes the Odyssey 3D a compelling option for gamers. However, technological innovation alone is not enough; a sufficient library of compatible games is also essential.

The Content Conundrum: Biggest Challenge

The main problem is that only one game, The First Berserker, is made specifically for this monitor. Samsung has promised that more than 10 games will be compatible with this monitor when it launches in the second quarter of 2025. However, this is not enough to convince gamers to purchase at such a high price point.

In comparison, Acer’s SpatialLabs monitors support hundreds of games after plenty of year’s hard work. So, buying Odyssey 3D instead of SpatialLabs seems impractical at the moment unless Samsung ensures compatibility with other popular AAA games.

The demo of The First Berserker has been widely praised, and none of Acer’s games appears as stunning in 3D as this one does in Odyssey 3D. However, Acer has a significant advantage with its extensive library of supported games, including advanced titles using DirectX12, making it a more attractive option for gamers.

Samsung needs strong partnerships with game developers and significant time to build a large library of supported games, as Acer has done. With consistent effort, gamers might eventually prefer the Odyssey 3D for its advanced technology and exceptional 3D effects.

Will 3D Gaming Become A Reality?

We all know that technology alone is not enough to succeed; a vast library of good games is essential to compete in the market. Currently, Samsung has much work to do to compete with Acer’s SpatialLabs monitors.

Convincing gamers who play games in 3D games to buy a monitor with only a few games available at launch seems nearly impossible. Additionally, asking game developers to spend extra time making their games compatible with the Odyssey 3D could be challenging, especially as more companies create their 3D monitors.

Samsung’s Odyssey

Odyssey 3D is an advanced technology, so its cost will likely rise, making it inaccessible to those unwilling to overspend. It’s unlikely to sell well with only 10 supported games at a high price. However, Samsung has the power to convince game developers to support its monitor, but it’s unclear if they will think it’s worth the effort.

Ultimately, the Odyssey 3D could change gaming with a glasses-free 3D experience. However, its success depends on how quickly Samsung addressed limited game options and high pricing. The Odyssey 3D could be the future of gaming, or it could just be another tech product that fails to meet expectations.

AMD Skipped CES 2025: FSR 4, RDNA 4, And Nothing New

Story Highlights
  • AMD’s CES 2025 keynote focused on CPUs and AI, leaving fans disappointed.
  • FSR 4 was the only notable highlight, with AMD limiting its use to RDNA 4 GPUs, a strategy reminiscent of Nvidia’s DLSS 3.
  • AMD offered no concrete details on the RX 9000 series, frustrating fans and awaiting updates.

As CES 2025 approached, everyone was expecting big news about AMD’s upcoming RX 9000 series GPUs, which were rumored to have the potential to compete with some of the best graphics cards in the future. However, when the event finally arrived, AMD left the audience wondering: Where are the RX 9000 GPUs?

Meanwhile, Nvidia announced its RTX 50 series GPUs just hours after AMD’s keynote. Even a basic product reveal from Nvidia could easily overshadow AMD’s underwhelming presentation. By failing to deliver concrete details or a clear roadmap for its gaming GPUs, AMD has given the spotlight to its competitor.

AMD’s Focus: CPUs And AI, Not Gaming

AMD’s 45-minute keynote at CES 2025 was packed with announcements, but many viewers were hoping for clear information about their new graphics cards. Instead, the focus shifted to new CPUs, such as the Ryzen 9950X3D, laptop processors, and enterprise-focused APUs, all targeting professionals and workstation users.

AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D
AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D Is 20% Faster In Gaming Than Intel Ultra 9 285K.

The gaming segment was reduced to just a few brief mentions. Jack Huynh teased the RDNA 4 architecture and introduced FSR 4, AMD’s latest upscaling technology. Beyond that, the presentation quickly discussed AI and enterprise-focused solutions.

The presentation was disappointing for gamers and graphics enthusiasts. Every year, CES serves as a stage for consumer products, and the lack of information about gaming hardware felt like a missed opportunity.

The Lack Of RDNA 4 And RX 9000 Series Details

The most frustrating aspect was the lack of information about RDNA 4 and the RX 9000 Series GPUs. We expected AMD to reveal much information about the RX 9070, RX 9060 and their XT counterparts, like specs or release dates, but AMD only offered vague comments and avoided specifics.

Although no concrete details were shared about what to expect with the RTX 9000 series, Jack Huynh mentioned in the presentation that RDNA 4 would bring hardware and software improvements, including better ray tracing with third-generation RT accelerators.

AMD RDNA 4
AMD RDNA 4 Details

The presentation suggested RX 9000 series GPUs would compete with Nvidia’s RTX 4070 Ti Super, RX 7700 XT, and RTX 4060 Ti. However, no technical breakthroughs were provided. Rumors indicated that the new flagship could feature Navi 48 GPUs with 4,096 cores, 16GB of GDDR7 VRAM on a 256-bit bus, and memory speeds of 18Gbps.

However, these remain unconfirmed, leaving fans to rely on leaks rather than official announcements. Additionally, the slides hinted that AMD might not release its own “Made by AMD” RX 9000 cards. Instead, AMD’s partners could manufacture all the GPUs, such as Acer, Asus, XFX, and Gigabyte.

FSR 4: The Only Highlight Of An Uneventful Keynote

FSR 4 was one of the few highlights of an otherwise lacklustre keynote. It marks a significant advancement in machine-learning-based upscaling technology, promising better performance and image quality for supported games.

What makes FSR 4 particularly noteworthy is that it will be exclusive to RDNA 4-based GPUs, unlike FSR 3, which was available across multiple GPU generations. This move feels similar to Nvidia’s strategy with DLSS 3, which is only compatible with their RTX 40 series.

Nvidia’s decision received mixed reactions, and now AMD may face the same challenges. By restricting FSR 4 to RDNA 4 GPUs, AMD risks alienating users who may not want to upgrade to the RX 9000 series immediately.

The keynote also briefly touched on how FSR 4 could improve gaming experiences. Beyond these statements, there were no demonstrations or benchmarks to showcase FSR 4’s capabilities. This makes it difficult to assess whether it’s a game-changing feature or a small step forward.

AMD’s Gaming Fans Feeling Let Down

The overall sentiment following AMD’s CES 2025 keynote was disappointment among gamers. AMD’s decision to downplay the upcoming RX 9000 GPUs left many feeling that the company had sidelined its gaming audience.

AMD’s gaming revenue reportedly dropped by 69% year-over-year in 2024, and we had hoped for a strong comeback with the RX 9000 series. Instead, AMD left us waiting for more details, with Huynh promising updates “later this quarter.”

This vague timeline raises questions about whether the RX 9000 GPUs will launch soon or face additional delays. Fans must wait until later this quarter to learn more, which adds to their frustration.

In a year where Nvidia is poised to make major announcements, AMD must deliver a compelling message at CES 2025. Unfortunately, it fell short, leaving many to wonder whether the company can keep up with its rivals in the fiercely competitive GPU market.
