Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 reviews that mention anything about DEI are being struck down on Steam.
It is unclear whether the developers are involved at all since Steam moderators usually deal with these issues.
The community is upset and has taken to social media online since even civil posts about DEI topics are being banned.
Now, the reviews bringing up these Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 DEI features are being banned on Steam without any compromises. In other words, even civil discussions on the matter are not being taken lightly by the platform.
Why it matters: Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 reviews being banned on Steam adds another layer of criticism and controversy in the already rampant DEI drama surrounding the newly launched RPG.
Any posts mentioning DEI topics in the Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 reviews on Steam are reportedly being banned.
As spotted by @Pirat_Nation, the DEIDetected website founder Kabrutus reported on Twitter that any reviews discussing DEI in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 are being canned. Multiple reviews have been taken down even if they do not appear to be breaking any rules.
However, it is unclear whether the developers are involved with this drama since Steam moderators often deal with these concerns. Then again, DEI discussions surrounding other titles are also not taken down in this manner.
Some argue that Warhorse Studios is taking action by bringing these posts up to Steam mods to take down, while others think the platform is doing it to keep peace.
Do you think Steam should be banning these discussions about the game’s DEI elements, especially if they stay civil? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below, or join the discussion on the Tech4Gamers forum.

Castlevania is getting a new AAA title, according to rumors.
This game will be revealed in 2025 but nothing else is known.
The franchise has sold over 20 million copies globally.
One of the most legendary vampire-based gaming IPs, Castlevania, has been out of the picture for quite some time. However, if rumors are true, the classic Konami franchise is set to make a comeback with a reveal expected as early as 2025.
Why it matters: Castlevania is one of the biggest names in classic gaming and the franchise has been out of action for over a decade so a return for the IP is very exciting.
The action-adventure game series is one of gaming’s pioneers
According to the website Geekinout, Castlevania is set to make a return very soon with a new AAA game in the series being in development. In addition, Konami is going to announce the release of this title in 2025, meaning fans won’t have to wait long to hear news about the title.
There is no concrete info about this new Castlevania title yet, however, as the developer is still in the air. Konami previously worked with MercurySteam and the Spanish studio is working on two unannounced games right now.
Hence, one of them can be the new Castlevania as the other title is confirmed to be a RPG for 505 Games. All in all, it’s good to see the classic Konami franchise make a return as the last major entry in the series was over a decade ago in 2014 in the form of Castlevania: Lords of Shadows 2.
Castlevania’s anime has kept the franchise alive in the absence of video games
The Vampire-based video game series is one of gaming’s most well-known IPs, selling over 20 million copies and becoming an essential part of the industry’s culture. With Konami revealing that more remakes like Metal Gear Solid are in the works, one can only assume that Castlevania is getting the same treatment.
Do you think the upcoming AAA Castlevania title will be a success or is Konami going to stumble in adapting the game? Tell us In the comments below or head to the Tech4Gamers forum for discussion.

Many of us would agree that updating the BIOS of our motherboard can be a complex task, as any oopsie can make your motherboard useless. That’s why you have probably heard of the phrase, “No matter what the version of your BIOS is, if it’s working fine, leave it.” For this reason, many users leave their motherboard default at their factory settings and never try to tinker with their BIOS versions.
This is true to some extent because a power issue while updating your motherboard can potentially brick it. However, users who don’t update their BIOS miss out on many performance improvements, including new features, improved RAM speeds, bug fixes, and more. Therefore, in this article, I will explain why updating your BIOS is good and how you can do it carefully without bricking your motherboard.
One main benefit of updating your BIOS is access to new features in newer versions. Different manufacturers add various updates to improve their motherboard capabilities, which can improve your PC’s overall performance. Even for components that work properly right out of the box, BIOS upgrades frequently feature performance-enhancing improvements throughout the board. Users also update their BIOS to use hardware they previously could not use.
Better Hardware Compatibility
For instance, sometimes it is not enough to install a new generation or latest series CPU on an old motherboard and expect it to work. Rather, manufacturers provide a BIOS update to enable motherboards to support those processors. Updates to the BIOS can also enable the use of other hardware upgrades, such as compatibility with new RAM speeds, and they can also fix problems involving PCIe devices, such as storage and capture cards.
Security Fixes
Additionally, keeping your computer secure is important. BIOS hacking and boot sector corruption are both real and can cause major damage to your computer. Security updates aim to resolve and fix flaws in the preceding BIOS version. Generally, most security updates are not particularly big, and you will probably not see any significant performance changes following the update. Nonetheless, improving your computer’s security is always a good idea.
Fix Common Issues
Furthermore, BIOS often fixes flaws and other issues on motherboards. These issues can appear in several ways. Due to the complexity of current BIOS firmware, they are practically unavoidable, and some may be more problematic than others. For instance, they can show up as blue screens of death, slowdowns, hardware or port failure to function, unexpected operating system failures, or boot problems.
Instant Flash updates the BIOS of this motherboard
Therefore, frequently visiting your motherboard’s support website for BIOS updates could help you find out if there is an update that can solve an annoying PC issue that continues to occur even after numerous upgrades to the operating system. Last but not least, let’s say newer hardware, whatever it is, fits and installs on your motherboard, but it isn’t functioning correctly. Depending on the motherboard manufacturer, there is a very high likelihood that a BIOS update will be able to resolve the issue.
But, You Should Be Careful
Updating the motherboard’s BIOS may improve security, compatibility, and performance, but it might cause permanent damage if done incorrectly. One of the biggest concerns is bricking your motherboard, which occurs when an update fails and makes it unusable. Installing the incorrect BIOS file, disrupting the update process, or losing power during an update can all trigger this.
Furthermore, changing the BIOS needlessly could lead to compatibility issues. Improper handling might result in expensive repairs or a new motherboard replacement, so it’s important to understand the procedure and act carefully. Although it may seem intimidating, following a safe approach is important while updating your BIOS.
Safely Updating BIOS Is Not Difficult
Firstly, it’s important to identify the version of your BIOS to determine whether a firmware upgrade is required. Usually, you can do this by opening the systems information tab, which is easily accessible, or by using the utility tools that the motherboard manufacturer usually provides. Afterward, download an update from the manufacturer’s official website if available.
To avoid incompatibilities, ensure that the updated file matches the correct model of your motherboard. After ensuring a reliable power connection and downloading the proper file, follow the manufacturer’s detailed instructions on the website. Lastly, avoid interrupting the update process by restarting or switching off the computer, which might cause it to stop updating.
A Must-Have, If Done Correctly
Updating your BIOS offers numerous benefits that can significantly increase your PC’s performance, from unlocking new features and enhancing compatibility to fixing bugs. However, it also comes with risks that shouldn’t be overlooked and could be costly. Nevertheless, in my opinion, the perks far outweigh the risks, and you should update it with caution and take all necessary safety measures before doing so.

Death Stranding 2 has been rated in South Korea, suggesting that its PlayStation 5 launch is coming.
The game has been classified as “Not available for minors” due to violence and profanities.
The sequel has been confirmed by Kojima to launch in 2025.
The gaming world only has a few auteurs with Hideo Kojima arguably being the most popular among them all. The Japanese game developer has been making whacky titles that push the limits of the medium since the 90’s and with several projects planned for the future, he isn’t stopping anytime soon.
One such title is Death Stranding 2, which was revealed a few years ago and has been in development for quite some time. And, a new rating suggests that the release of the highly anticipated sequel might be coming soon.
Why it matters: Death Stranding 2 is one of the most exciting gaming sequels in development and a rating confirms that the game will hit PS5 this year.
Death Stranding 2 has been rated in South Korea, suggesting an imminent PS5 release.
Death Stranding 2: On The Beach has been rated in South Korea, with the classification board stating it is “Not available for minors.” According to the rating description, the sequel is an adventure title about delivering parcels across a post-apocalyptic landscape, similar to the original.
The reasons for a high rating are excessive violence in the game in addition to vulgar language with swear words and profanity. Hence, there is nothing too surprising in the rating description, with the Kojima title also set to feature smoking and drinking.
The director said last year that Death Stranding 2 wasn’t even halfway done yet, but ratings popping up suggest that the release is a few months away. With Kojima saying the sequel is going to be weirder and will have more violence, the hype for the title is through the roof.
The sequel is also set to display the true strength of PS5 Pro with updated graphics but only time will tell if it’ll make its 2025 release window. Do you think Death Stranding 2 is going to launch this year? Tell us in the comments below or head to the Tech4Gamers forum for discussion.

Siege X, the rumored Rainbow Six Siege sequel or a major update, is reportedly in active development.
It is expected to be revealed soon at the Sixth Invitation 2025 event and will feature an engine overhaul.
There will also be notable graphical upgrades, including better textures and models.
New rumors suggest that Rainbow Six Siege is getting a standalone sequel, or at the very least a major update with improved visuals and an engine overhaul.
Why it matters: Rainbow Six Siege 2 getting a sequel could turn things around for Ubisoft if it succeeds, but all the hype might just turn out to be a major update for the current game to make it current-gen worthy.
The insider claims that the Rainbow Six Siege 2 sequel will be announced at SI 2025.
The insider @fraxiswinning on Twitter says that Ubisoft plans to announce Siege X at the Sixth Invitation 2025 event. The final event is scheduled from February 14 to 16.
The rumored sequel is expected to launch during the Year 10 Season 2 window when Rainbow Six Siege will be celebrating its 10th anniversary, which falls in mid-2025.
Siege X is expected to bring huge graphical upgrades in textures and character models. The engine used by the popular live-service title will also be getting a beefy overhaul to make it rival modern AAA games.
It is worth noting that Ubisoft has vehemently shut down any rumors regarding a Rainbow Six Siege sequel last year. The company clarified that this game can already last forever, so making a sequel is wasteful. Therefore, Siege X might just be a major update.
Despite all this, there’s also this concern that all the old events will not return in Siege X, with only new ones surviving in the sequel. Regardless, take these details with a grain of salt.
Do you think Rainbow Six Siege is actually getting a standalone sequel instead of a major update? What are your thoughts? Let us know your opinions in the comments below, or join the discussion on the official Tech4Gamers forum.

Gears of War creator Cliff Bleszinski took to Twitter to address recent live-service drama in the gaming scene.
He clarified that developers should focus on making single-player titles instead of turning existing franchises into live service.
He argues that not everything needs to be GaaS, an opinion that has continued to rise in popularity amid live service flops.
Now, the Gears of War creator has addressed developers and said that they should keep focusing on single-player games. He’s asking not to turn existing single-player games and franchises into live services that no one asked for.
Why it matters: The words of Cliff Bleszinski have resonated with many gamers who have grown weary of the live service push made by major conglomerates like EA and Sony over the years, hurting many notable IPs in the process.
Gears of War creator thinks single-player games should be untouched amid the live-service boom.
Cliff Bleszinski recently took to Twitter and claimed that not everything needs to be GaaS. He’s referencing recent disasters like Concord and Dragon Age: The Veilguard, which was first developed as a live service title.
For those not in the know, Cliff Bleszinski is responding to the EA CEO drama where he claimed that the failed Dragon Age: The Veilguard might have succeededif it was live service. His remarks generated a lot of backlash across the whole industry.
The Coalition is currently working on the next mainline Gears of War entry, which has a lot of players excited. And certainly, Gears of War: E-Day will stay clear of any controversial live service elements.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth will launch on Xbox next year, with Reirth debuting later this year per NateTheHate
In addition, Final Fantasy 16 is set to drop on Xbox this spring, but won’t make it to Nintendo Switch 2.
Rebirth and Remake, however, will be coming to the Switch successor.
Final Fantasy has been closely linked to PlayStation these past few years, with its previous three premium offerings being exclusive to the console. But, with Final Fantasy 16 failing to meet the long-term expectations of developer Square Enix, a change in this strategy was imminent.
The franchise’s producer previously confirmed that the game will be launching on Xbox now and if recent rumors are anything to go by, more titles from the franchise are going to debut on Xbox very soon.
Why it matters: Final Fantasy titles have been one of PlayStation’s biggest exclusive offerings so the franchise porting to Xbox and Nintendo is a big blow to the company’s exclusive catalog.
NateTheHate Revealing Info About Upcoming Ports
According to insider NateTheHate, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is going to drop on the console in 2026 with its predecessor Remake set to launch this year. The insider also confirmed that Final Fantasy 16 will make its way to the Microsoft console this spring, corroborating previous rumors.
NateTheHate also discussed the franchise’s status on the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2, saying that currently only two titles are planned to be released on the console. Per rumors, Square Enix is currently prioritizing the two games in the Final Fantasy 7 chronology over Final Fantasy 16.
NateTheHate also gave us some info regarding the announcement of these titles on Xbox, revealing that the company will market the three games at the same time for maximum impact.

Cheap GPUs are getting good and good GPUs are getting cheap.
The RTX 4060 and RX 7600 are the best sub $250 GPUs.
If you’re willing to go used, the RTX 3080 Ti and RTX 4070 Super are the best options.
It’s 2025 and GPU prices look all set on penetrating the ozone layer. No, I’m not even exaggerating this time. It’s a shame to say that GPU prices never truly recovered in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic.
What was once considered painfully expensive for a flagship GPU is now deemed as a reasonable price point for upper midrange GPUs. No, it’s not right, but it is what it is.Of course, I can’t objectively classify as to what amount YOU in particular should be spending on a GPU for your gaming PC.
That’s because gamers are typically split into two different camps, i.e., the average Joe who’ll be happy with 60+ FPS in 1080p at High settings versus the hardcore enthusiasts who absolutely need triple-digit FPS in 1440p or even 4K at Ultra settings to drive their high refresh rate monitors.
As such, the definition and subsequently price of a satisfactory GPU will vary from gamer to gamer. Nevertheless, I’m still going to attempt to justify the reasonable limit for spending on GPUs in 2025 which should somewhat satisfy the needs of both types of gamers.
Breaking News: Nvidia’s RTX 5000 Launch Proves My Point
I’m sure you’re already well-versed with the recent unveiling of Nvidia’s GeForce RTX 5000 Series GPUs. For now, the cheapest GPU in the lineup is the RTX 5070 with an MSRP of $550.
Interestingly, Nvidia claims that the RTX 5070 can match the outgoing (and much more expensive) flagship GPU, i.e., the RTX 4090 thanks to advancements in the silicon giant’s DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling) Technology.
The RTX 5070’s bold performance claims are based on a technicality.
However, I’d advise you to take this news with a grain of salt as you’ll need to enable DLSS 4.0 in order to have any possibility of rivaling the RTX 4090’s performance. Even so, it’s pretty groundbreaking to realize that a next-generation midrange $550 GPU has the technical potential to outgun a previous-generation flagship $1,600 GPU.
As I’m sure you’ve put two and two together, this is exactly why I’m advocating for the fact that $500 is plenty of money to be spending on a GPU in 2025.
What Kind Of GPU Does $500 Get You In 2025?
Let’s assume you’re the frenzied competitive gamer who needs upwards of 240 FPS to sync your frame rates with your high refresh rate monitors. If you’re into such hardcore gameplay, it’s safe to say you’ll be gaming in 1080p at High or Ultra settings.
As such, you’ll find that you can easily find a brand new RTX 3070 Ti or even an RTX 4060 Ti from a reputable vendor for under $500. Both of these GPUs are easily capable of pushing 144-240+ FPS at 1080p in the latest gaming titles and you won’t be running out of power anytime soon.
Even better, both these GPUs are relatively efficient when it comes to their power consumption as opposed to the power-hungry flagship GPUs like the RTX 3090/RTX 4090.
What About Used GPUs?
Here’s where things get a bit more interesting. If you’re willing to buy a used GPU, you’ll be able to easily pick up an RTX 2080 Ti, an RTX 3080 Ti, and even an RTX 4070 Super for under 500 bucks.
Of course, you might miss out on the manufacturers’ warranties, but these GPUs are still relatively new and packed with almost all of Nvidia’s latest technological architectures and hardware, so it’s not too much of a risk.
AMD GPUs: Are They Worth Considering?
It would be incredibly unthoughtful of me to write an article advocating for people to spend less money on GPUs without discussing what AMD has in store for us.
While Team Red is struggling to compete with Nvidia at the higher-end tiers of the GPUs’ hierarchy, that doesn’t mean they don’t make a good budget GPU.
AMD Radeon RX 7600 – One of the best budget GPUs.
In fact, I genuinely think that the Radeon RX 7800 XT and Radeon RX 7600 are some of the best budget GPUs that money can buy, provided they’re competitively underpriced in contrast to their Nvidia counterparts.
Next Generation GPUs: The Future Is Budget-Friendly
The battle for the best next-generation GPUs has already started with Intel taking the covers off of its Arc ‘Battlemage’ GPUs, i.e., its B-Series lineup consisting of the B570 and B580 which are priced at $220 and $260, respectively.
These discrete GPUs from Intel look set to give the RTX 4060 and RX 7600 a tough run for their money, which will only increase competition and ultimately benefit the consumer, i.e., you in terms of value propositions.
Furthermore, AMD has also announced the brand new Radeon RX 9000 Series of GPUs based on the company’s proprietary RDNA4 architecture.
The aforementioned RX 9060 and RX 9070 Series GPUs are still awaiting their launch, but Nvidia should expect stiff competition in the entry-level to midrange market segment.
To conclude, spending more than $500 on a GPU in 2025 really doesn’t make sense to me unless you’re in the game (no pun intended) for bragging rights.

PlayStation has laid off multiple people, according to posts on social media.
The layoffs happened in the software department that works on previous consoles.
These layoffs come only a few months after the Japanese giant fired people back in September.
The gaming industry had a tough 2024 concerning job security with many studios closing down or laying hundreds of people off. One of the gaming world’s biggest forces, PlayStation, has also been affected by the current economic climate, as the Japanese giant shut down Firewalk after the failure of Concord.
Many were hoping things would improve with the dawn of 2025, but it seems like the layoffs are going to continue this year. Developers on social media have revealed that Sony fired multiple people recently, continuing this flurry of layoffs.
Why This Matters: One of gaming’s most profitable companies firing people is not a good sign for the overall health of the industry.
PlayStation has had another round of layoffs
Ryosuke on Mastadon first broke this unfortunate news, saying that most of his team was cut by PlayStation. And, by his job description, it sounds like most of these layoffs have happened in the software department of the company.
The developer and his team contributed to the development of PlayStation 5, PS Portal, PSVR2, and the PlayStation app among many others.
The failure of Concord and the company’s live service push has led to many casualties
It seems like a lot of these layoffs are because of bad decision-making on Sony’s part, especially their failed live service push that has crumbled to nothingness. However, the PlayStation 5 sales have been largely unaffected with the console tracking ahead of its predecessor in the US.
Layoffs have been rampant in the industry, with Xbox and Rocksteady both being affected by them quite recently. Unless you work for Nintendo, job security is a myth in the gaming world nowadays.

Alan Wake 2 is the first title to support RTX Mega Geometry.
The newer game version sees almost 10% performance gains in the RTX 20/30 series GPU.
While the metrics may seem insubstantial, this feature has no drawbacks, only performance and quality upgrades.
One of the most overlooked announcements by Nvidia at the 2025 CES was RTX Mega Geometry, an overhaul to the Ray Tracing API. RTX Mega Geometry basically reorganizes the light structure for better ray-traced reflections and a huge performance boost.
The first game to get the support of the feature is Alan Wake 2. Known for being one of the most visually appealing games and unforgiving on even the higher-end GPUs, the game is the best title for Assessment.
Tested by Digital Foundry, Alan Wake 2 saw a performance upgrade of a massive 60% running on the RTX 4060.
Why It Matters: Despite transforming lighting within a video game, RTX has been quite performance-heavy on titles and has increasingly become a norm for video games. The RTX Mega Geometry aims to fortify Ray-Tracing with a much-needed performance and quality boost.
The newer version of the game running on the RTX 4060 freed almost 300MB of memory. The performance increase was 60%, although that was just due to the card’s underwhelming 8 GB VRAM.
Older GPUs, like the Turing and Ampere series, see a consistent gain. The RTX 2080Ti gets a 13% boost at 1080p native. In the DLSS quality mode, the game climbs to the upper 30FPS compared to the mid-20s before.
The RTX 3080 sees a 10% improvement at 1080p native, while DLSS quality mode helps maintain mid-40s FPS instead of dipping into the high 30s in the older version.
The RTX 5090 Can’t Maintain 60FPS@4k On Marvel’s Spider-Man 2
The latest high-end GPUs like the 4090 and 5090 saw little to no change, with around a 1% performance increase.
While these metrics may seem quite little, there is no actual tradeoff for the RTX Mega Geometry, only performance and quality upgrades.
The Vram reduction is impressive, and future titles would greatly benefit from RTX Mega Geometry’s addition.
What do you think about the RTX Mega Geometry? Do you think that this would be game changing for the RTX cards? Let us know in the comments below or head towards the official Tech4Gamers Forums.

Capcom seems to be working on a Devil May Cry remake.
The Vergil voice actor states that he recently worked on a game project requiring him to use younger Vergil’s voice.
Fans can expect a full remake in line with recent Resident Evil titles.
Devil May Cry is one of Capcom’s biggest IPs today, but the series has yet to see a new entry since 2019. The director responsible for overseeing the franchise over the last two decades, Hideaki Itsuno, also left the studio last year, leaving fans concerned about the future.
Many thought Capcom would be left clueless without Itsuno’s leadership, but it seems the publisher had other plans. According to a new teaser, a Devil May Cry Remake may be in the works.
Why it matters: The original Devil May Cry director already expressed interest in working on a remake, and Capcom has found plenty of success with Resident Evil remakes in recent years.
Daniel Southworth, the voice actor behind the iconic character Vergil, seems to have revealed a new project. Speaking during Power Morphicon 2024, the voice actor discussed the series’ 25th anniversary and spilled the beans on Capcom’s plans.
He remarked that this project involved him voicing a younger Vergil from 2004, which required a different approach. Fans were quick to put two and two together, leading to hope for a fully-fledged remake since Capcom has already expressed interest in giving classic IPs the same treatment as Resident Evil.
They (Capcom) asked me to do my voice the way it was back in 2004. Can you do the younger Vergil version?
-Daniel Southworth
The most interesting element of this leak is the fact that it suggests Capcom is remaking the third mainline entry since Vergil was prominently featured in the game as the main antagonist.
While he also made several appearances as Nelo Angelo in the original Devil May Cry, the character’s role was much more limited.
The Latest Entry Is Arguably The Best Action Game To Date
This remake is important since it should help the new development team understand the franchise better without Hideaki Itsuno’s guidance.
In terms of what potential changes, Dante’s on-the-fly style switching from the fourth mainline title will almost certainly return. This feature was already integrated into the Nintendo Switch port of Devil May Cry 3, so it would be a natural fit for a remake.
Overall, the remake is expected to be built from the ground up on the RE Engine, like recent Resident Evil titles.
Fans can also expect subtle changes to the camera since this element has aged worse than the core gameplay itself. Would you play a Devil May Cry remake? Let us know in the comments, and share your wishes for the title on the Tech4Gamers Forums.

AMD’s CES announcement about the RX 9000 series GPUs revealed nothing except a name change and a vague “Q1 2025” release date.
To add salt to the wound, AMD’s latest FSR4 technology will only be available for the latest RX 9000 series GPUs, stealing the versatility it once had.
Some of the latest leaks favor AMD, with the RX 9070 XT surpassing the RTX 4080 Super in performance while costing significantly less.
Most importantly, NVIDIA basically had a paper launch with its RTX 5090 and RTX 5080, leading to scalping problems, which AMD could have capitalized on.
AMD is notorious for having bad product launches, and this time, with the RX 9000 series, they haven’t done it justice again. According to the CES 2025 product reveals, AMD has a better chance of taking over NVIDIA’s market share, but if you don’t even reveal anything about the product you’re releasing, you won’t be able to gain any traction anyway.
Plus, with the NVIDIA RTX 5090 and 5080 finally hitting the market, it turns out NVIDIA basically put out a very low stock of the cards, leading to long lines and plenty of scalping. If AMD had timed its release with NVIDIA, it could have jumped in on the action and gained a good market. In any case, there are many things AMD could have improved with their announcement, which I’ll break down below.
The Announcement Was Shrouded In Mystery
ASUS TUF RX 9070
Usually, when a product lineup is announced, companies reveal more than just the naming scheme. But AMD? That’s all they announced. Unlike NVIDIA’s announcement, where Jensen Huang showed actual (rigged) benchmarks of the RTX 50 series GPUs and the expected availability of the GPUs, AMD failed to announce that.
What did the company share instead? The naming scheme was being changed to align with NVIDIA’s products, mainly changing from the RX 9700 XT to the new name RX 9070 XT, and so on. The second thing shared during the announcement was that we could expect availability in Q1 2025—but that’s about it. However, we have received availability updates ever since. The review embargo is set to end on January 22, 2025, so we’ll learn a lot about the product soon enough.
FSR4 Is Only For Latest AMD GPUs
I don’t know about the rest, but that’s a big letdown. AMD’s AI upscaling technology was known for its versatility, which the company seems adamant about destroying. At least older GPUs still have access to FSR3, but I would have loved a performance boost with FSR4, which would have helped their value increase further.
Instead, FSR4 will be available for only the RX 9070 and RX 9070 XT GPUs for now and for any other AMD GPUs released later. On the other hand, NVIDIA changed their approach, and the latest DLSS 4 will be available for all NVIDIA RTX GPUs. From an outsider’s point of view, it seems both companies traded their positions to make this move.
Latest Leaks Are On AMD’s Side
Since the launch, we have received a few leaks; honestly, they’re not that bad. Of course, I always recommend taking any of these leaks with a grain of salt, but here’s what we know so far. The RX 9070 XT “supposedly” beats the RTX 4080 Super in rasterization performance and will only cost $479. Similarly, the RX 9070’s performance will be on par with the RTX 4080 Super.
Again, I recommend you take these leaks with a grain of salt because nothing is confirmed. If we believe all the leaks and official benchmarks from both companies, the RX 9070 Super won’t match the RTX 5070’s performance with DLSS enabled. However, if NVIDIA’s false claims are false, the RX 9000 series GPUs could wrench their competitor’s market share.
After our expert analysis, NVIDIA’s claims did seem odd, and our performance chart based on the CES announcement also rectified NVIDIA’s mistake. Here’s the chart:

Prices Are Getting Higher
To put it simply—both the RTX 5090 and 5080 are really hard to find, and since NVIDIA stopped selling the RTX 4090 and other non-Super cards a while ago, scalpers are having a field day with the new RTX 50 series. On top of that, last-gen cards from both AMD and NVIDIA are getting harder to find in stores and online, and their prices are going up.
If AMD had released its cards at the same time as NVIDIA—and actually had stock instead of just a “paper launch”—it could have been a great option for gamers looking to upgrade at the start of the year.
