Fans have been demanding Days Gone 2 from Bend Studio for a long time now.
In fear of rejection, the developer never pitched the sequel to Sony.
A petition for the sequel has now reached nearly 240K signatures, yet there’s still no response from Sony.
Instead, Bend Studio was assigned to work on a live-service project, which was eventually canceled, and even led to around 30% of the studio being laid off. Despite this setback, fans haven’t given up hope. A petition for Days Gone 2 has now reached nearly 240K signatures, showing just how much demand remains for the sequel.
Why it matters: Days Gone, while being underrated, was pretty successful, so if the developer had pitched the idea of a sequel to Sony, it may have been approved.
The petition for Days Gone 2 Has Reached Almost 240K Signatures | Source: Change.org
As shown in the petition numbers, the demand for a sequel is undeniable, with nearly a quarter of a million fans asking for a sequel. This doesn’t even include the countless players who probably don’t know the petition exists. It feels like the perfect time for Sony to finally listen to its community and deliver what they truly want.
What makes the situation even more frustrating is Sony’s approach. Instead of considering a sequel, it decided to release a remaster of the original game, something fans never asked for.
Naturally, this move sparked heavy backlash, as the community has been loud and clear: they don’t want a remaster, they want Days Gone 2.
What makes the situation even funnier is that a Digital Foundry analysis revealed Days Gone Remastered actually looked worse than the original running on PS5 at launch.
To this day, fans continue to ask for a sequel. Now that the unnecessary live-service project has been scrapped, it seems like the perfect opportunity for the developer to focus on the thing the community has been demanding all along.

Hollow Knight Silksong finally launches next month.
At least three indie games have been delayed to avoid clashing with Hollow Knight’s sequel.
Indie developers believe their hard work will be overshadowed if they try to compete with this gigantic launch.
Needless to say, the entire industry is very excited to finally play the sequel to one of indie gaming’s biggest hits. In fact, the excitement has grown to such an extent that other indie games are moving out of Hollow Knight Silksong’s path in 2025.
Why it matters: The Hollow Knight sequel has kept millions waiting. Since its initial reveal, the franchise has only grown in popularity, practically guaranteeing a major launch for the second game.
Various Indie Games Have Been Pushed Back Due To Hollow Knight's Sequel
1 of 3
For context, Hollow Knight Silksong is scheduled to launch on September 4, and this announcement has led to developer Panik Arcade recently moving its own game to a late September release.
In a post on Steam, the developer acknowledged that CloverPit would launch on September 26 due to the anticipation for Hollow Knight Silksong. As per the team, it intends to give CloverPit the best shot possible at success, and Hollow Knight Silksong would have overshadowed the release.
The team behind Faeland made a similar Steam post, admitting that Team Cherry’s recent announcement has led to an unexpected change of plans. Faeland was previously intended to launch on September 9, but the team will now share a new release date in the near future.
The most significant delay came from Aeternum Game Studios, which pushed its game, Aeterna Lucis, to 2026, noting that Hollow Knight Silksong would lead to Aeterna Lucis flowing under the radar of many players.
Moreover, the team added that this massive indie title was just one of the reasons for the delay.
Team Cherry Has Spent A lot of Time Polishing The Experience
While many expected GTA 6 to cause most of the game delays in 2025, it seems Hollow Knight Silksong has taken GTA 6’s place.
As such, it’s clear that the title has already had a major impact on the industry. Between its wishlist numbers on Steam and recent buzz, the game is shaping up to be a record-breaking release for indie gaming.

Silent Hill f producer dismisses any soulslike comparison for the game, saying that the label is thrown around too often.
He further notes that similar combat mechanics have existed in older Silent Hill games.
The game will feature heavy combat, but it is not a soulslike title and remains rooted in horror.
Silent Hill f will be the first new mainline entry in the series in over a decade. As such, the new entry is poised to try something new, starting from its brand-new 1960s Japanese setting and a heavy focus on melee combat, ditching firearms altogether.
Via its early previews, fans have been drawing soulslike comparisons due to the tough combat. The game’s producer is aware of such comparisons and expressed his frustration over the label, calling it ‘disingenuous.’
Why it matters: The recent surge in popularity of the subgenre has led to a tendency to label any game as a soulslike game hastily. Hence, the producer’s frustration really seems reasonable here.
Some previewers spent nearly an hour in boss fights that involved parrying and dodging using a stamina mechanic.
Silent Hill f producer, Motoi Okamoto, set the record straight on the game’s combat in a new interview with IGN.
Modern players will see like, oh there’s a stamina meter, there’s a dodge, and they’re like, ‘Okay, it’s a soulslike.’
Okamoto also said that similar combat mechanics have long existed in Silent Hill games. Silent Hill 3 and 4, for instance, had a charge and stamina meter. This was long ago, before souls games even existed.
He once again reiterated that Silent Hill is not a soulslike, dismissing any comparisons.
These things aren’t new and exclusive to soulslike games, — They’ve been a part of action horror games for a very, very long time
Previously, Silent Hill f developers also stated that the game is combat-heavy to suit modern audiences better since challenging action games have been gaining popularity amongst them.
Therefore, it makes sense why people were so quick to make soulslike comparisons. Still, there’s a fine line between typical action games and the soulslike subgenre.

Borderlands 4 launches on September 12, 2025, with the Switch 2 version arriving later.
The franchise has already sold 94 million copies, and Gearbox expects the new entry to push sales past 100 million.
CEO Randy Pitchford boldly claimed the game is so good that it could be worth $350.
The Borderlands series has long been beloved in the gaming community, but excitement for Borderlands 4 seems to be at an all-time low. The disappointment largely stems from several factors: the game’s reliance on Unreal Engine 5, the inclusion of Denuvo DRM, lingering frustration from its predecessor, and the CEO’s recent, controversial remarks.
Despite all this controversy, the developer remains confident, boldly projecting that the upcoming title will easily sell six million copies at launch.
Why it matters: Borderlands is a massive franchise, and Gearbox has been working on it for a long time now. So, if the studio is confident in its game, then expecting a big title to sell 6 million copies is plausible.
Borderlands 4 Finally Releases Next Month
In a recent interview with Insider Gaming, Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford shared his optimism about Borderlands 4. He expressed confidence in the game’s success, even suggesting that if it were priced at $350, it would still be a worthwhile investment.
A lot of people predicted that Borderlands wasn’t going to work. Now here we are with A franchise. We will break 100 million units with this launch, easy.
While Pitchford didn’t directly claim that the game would sell six million copies at launch, he did state that the upcoming release would push the franchise past 100 million units sold.
With the series currently sitting at 94 million copies, his projection doesn’t seem far-fetched considering the franchise’s track record.
While fans initially feared that Borderlands 4 would follow the $80 pricing trend, backlash led the developer to settle on the standard $70 tag. The game is set to launch on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PS5 on September 12, 2025, with a Switch 2 release arriving nearly a month later.

Nvidia has reduced European pricing for the RTX 50 Series by almost 10% due to the weakening USD.
I still strongly advise people to avoid the RTX 50 GPUs for a myriad of reasons including stock shortages, gray market scalping, driver-induced BSODs and overheating PCBs.
Instead, look towards the RX 9060 XT & RX 9070 XT if you’re looking for a new GPU with stellar value-for-money that’ll easily run any title in 1080p and 1440p at max settings.
Let’s be brutally honest for a moment: Nvidia’s RTX 50 Series launch has been a spectacular mess.
So, when headlines started flashing that Nvidia was finally cutting prices in Europe, I’ll admit, I was intrigued.
Was this the course correction we’d been waiting for? A sign that the company was listening to its disillusioned gaming base?
After digging into the details, my conclusion is a resounding no.
This isn’t a goodwill gesture; it’s a currency-driven accounting adjustment that changes absolutely nothing about the fundamental flaws of the Blackwell lineup.
Here’s why, even at a discount, these GPUs still aren’t worth your hard-earned cash.
The “Why” Behind The Price Cuts: It’s Not About You
For starters, the U.S. dollar has significantly weakened against the Euro, largely due to the inflationary pressures exacerbated by Trump’s tariffs and export restrictions.
When the RTX 50 Series was announced in January 2025, the exchange rate was sitting at a robust €1 EUR = $1.04 USD.
Today, that same Euro will get you $1.16 USD—nearly 10% depreciation for the dollar.
To keep their European pricing aligned and prevent the RTX 50 Series from becoming even more prohibitively expensive, Nvidia had to adjust.
Therefore, the new MSRPs are simply a reflection of this new financial reality, not a strategic discount.
A Closer Look At The “Discounts”
Nvidia has quietly updated its store pages in Germany, France, Belgium, and Spain, with the rest of Europe expected to follow. The adjustments are specific to four models:
RTX 5090: Now €2,099 (was €2,329)
RTX 5080: Now €1,059 (was €1,169)
RTX 5070: Now €589 (was €649)
RTX 5050: Now €251 (was €269)
Notice anything?
The critically awkward middle children—the RTX 5070 Ti, RTX 5060 Ti, and RTX 5060—are conspicuously absent from this list, left to languish at their original MSRP.
Why? That’s because they’re the only three RTX 50 Series GPUs that are still the subject of somewhat positive demand.
The RTX 5090 & 5080: Scarcity And Staggering Value Gaps
Now, let’s talk about why these new prices don’t solve the core issues.
Starting at the top, the RTX 5090 remains a fantasy for most. Even if its MSRP has dropped on paper, finding one at that price is like finding a unicorn.
Scalpers still dominate the market, demanding prices far exceeding the old MSRP, let alone the new one.
Furthermore, the card’s reputation has been fragmented by reports of missing ROPs where Nvidia claims the average performance hit is 4%.
Even though Nvidia claims only less than 0.5% of GPUs are affected, paying a premium for this level of anxiety is simply not a good deal.
Then we have the RTX 5080. At a price point that typically hovers over $1,200, it exists in a value vacuum.
Its performance uplift over the next card down is utterly negated by its astronomical price.
For almost one-third the cost, you can get an RTX 5070 Ti, which delivers a stunningly capable 1440p and even 4K gaming experience.
The Mid-Range Muddle: Where AMD Eats Nvidia’s Lunch
This is where Nvidia’s position becomes truly untenable. The price-cut RTX 5070 is perhaps the most pointless card in the stack.
For just a few more bucks, you can step up to an AMD Radeon RX 9070 XT 16 GB which is now up to 24% and 37% faster than the RTX 5070 in 1440p and 4K gaming on average thanks to a miraculous driver update.
The RTX 5070’s NVVDD (Nvidia Variable Video Data Decoders) hotspot can get pretty fiery. (Image Credits – Igor’s Lab)
Unfortunately for Team Green, critically overheating hotspots in the RTX 5070 in particular were also discovered in April 2025 that threatened the GPU’s long-term performance and durability.
Not only that, the RX 9070 XT now even outperforms the more expensive RTX 5070 Ti by an average of 9% in 1440p gaming.
Let that sink in. AMD’s offering is now both faster and cheaper than its direct competitor.
The Low-End Disaster And The Review Debacle
At the bottom, the RTX 5050 was launched with a paltry 8 GB of previous-gen GDDR6 VRAM with lowered memory bandwidth.
Understandably, the RTX 5050 was immediately outsold by the AMD Radeon RX 9060 XT, especially the 16 GB variants.
It’s worth noting that Nvidia came under heavy fire for adopting anti-consumer practices by sending only 16 GB review units of the 5060 Series to cherry-picked reviewers on the condition that they’d test the GPUs as per Nvidia’s outlined parameters to artificially manipulate the results.
Needless to say, this lack of transparency is a massive red flag and destroys any trust in the product’s true capabilities.
The Big Picture: A Company That Has Moved On
When you step back and look at the entire RTX 50 Series launch—the scarcity, the scalping, the hardware flaws, the driver issues, the review manipulation—a clear pattern emerges.
This isn’t a series of unlucky mistakes. It’s the symptom of a company whose priorities have radically shifted.
Gaming now accounts for less than 10% of Nvidia’s annual revenue. (Image Credits – Tom’s Hardware)
The consumer graphics division feels like an afterthought, a legacy segment where they feel they can rest on their laurels and extract maximum revenue for minimal effort.
To sum it up, the RTX 50 Series, even on sale, is a testament to a corporation that has lost touch with the gamers who built its empire.

Tencent has unveiled a new AI tool at Devcom, aiming to accelerate gaming art design and animation production from days to minutes.
The tool is a game development suite that automates tedious tasks while preserving creative vision.
VisVise tools have been used in developing over 90 Tencent franchise games.
Since the AI boom began last year, many experts have anticipated large-scale changes, some good, some bad, that are inevitably affecting the gaming scene. Now, it appears that Tencent has already cooked up something that may change the industry forever.
Tencent Games executive Zijiao Zeng delivered a keynote at Devcom to reveal a new AI tool, VisVise, which aims to accelerate gaming art design and animation production from a matter of months and days to mere minutes.
And it plans to automate tedious tasks without harming human creativity and ingenuity.
Why it matters: VisVise is aiming to reshape how developers approach game development. This may result in even indie developers creating massive AAA experiences at a fraction of the current cost and time to compete with AAA gaming studios.
VisVise will significantly reduce the production time for video game art design and animation to a matter of minutes.
As announced, the tool comes with two core technologies, VISVISE GoSkinning and MotionBlink. GoSkinning uses an AI model to adapt to different skeletal structures, achieving 85% automation in the process.
VISVISE fundamentally reshapes how we approach animation. It liberates us from technical execution to focus purely on creative vision.
-A german game artist.
Meanwhile, MotionBlink affects the animation production pipeline and uses a self-regressive diffusion architecture to generate keyframes rapidly. The skeletal animations can be produced in just 10 seconds, rather than days.
It produces smooth motion transitions that rival optical motion capture while eliminating notable issues like foot sliding and jitter.
VisVise aims to automate tedious tasks without replacing human ingenuity.
It’s worth noting that Tencent has already applied the new ViseVise technologies in over 90 games under its umbrella across different franchises.
Do you think the new AI tool announced by Tencent will shake the game development space, or will it prove to be another novelty for gaming studios? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below, or join the discussion on the Tech4Gamers forum.

The gaming industry has shifted drastically, largely due to the rise of live-service games.
Instead of prioritising player demand, developers are now chasing profits.
A former Bend Studio developer explains how publishers, especially Sony, are fueling this trend with greed.
The gaming industry just isn’t the same anymore, and that’s honestly sad to see. These days, most developers are either chasing photorealistic open worlds or live-service projects designed to squeeze out long-term profits.
It’s true that live-service games can generate far more revenue than single-player titles. Regular updates, new content drops, and time-limited events keep fans engaged and spending money. But this trend is slowly eroding the heart of the industry. Many developers, especially Sony, are leaning heavily into the model, and that’s not a healthy direction.
Why it matters: Profit in itself isn’t bad; every company needs it. But when profit becomes the only focus, creativity and innovation suffer. Sony has built its legacy on incredible single-player experiences, and fans still love those games. If it just listened to its audience and doubled down on what it does best, the profits would follow naturally.
Unfortunately, major publishers seem blinded by greed, chasing only live-service success. Even a former Bend Studio developer has spoken about how damaging this obsession can be.
He explains that higher-ups pitch the live-service model to shareholders by showing how spending less can lead to bigger profits. This is exactly why so many games today have turned into live-service machines.
For the cost of one The Last of Us 2, you could instead make like 10 overwatches, and from the 10 overwatches, you could make 80 more overwatches.
Sony’s Fairgame$ development isn’t going very smoothly.
Still, despite all the setbacks, Sony isn’t letting go. Why? Because greed remains the driving force. In its latest financial report, Sony openly stated that titles like Helldivers 2 and Destiny 2 brought massive profits, so it will keep pushing the live-service model no matter what.
What do you think? Will this obsession with profit eventually hurt the gaming industry beyond repair? Share your thoughts in the comments below, or join the discussion on the official Tech4Gamers forums.

A notable insider with a credible track record confirms that the new Lego Batman game is even bigger than Arkham Knight.
The insider argues that many mechanics, such as Batmobile controls and gameplay elements, are also similar in nature.
The game will also feature NPCs and an open world that feels more alive than the previous Lego Batman games.
It’s been a while since the last large successful Batman game release, and after the failure of Suicide Squad, fans have also lost hope for the franchise altogether. However, the reveal of a new Lego Batman game has somewhat revived the interest of the community.
Now, new tidbits about Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight have leaked, clarifying that its open world is even larger than the developers have let on so far. The game outright surpasses the open world of Arkham Knight in size alone.
Why it matters: The success of the new Lego Batman game could revitalize the tired gaming scene and may push Warner Bros. to take the franchise more seriously.
The new Lego Batman game will be much bigger than even the Arkham Knight entry, an insider claims.
As confirmed by the credible Lego games leaker, @LEGOTtNews, Gotham City in Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight features a huge open world that will also feel alive. It will be filled with NPCs instead of being ‘evacuated’ like in the past Lego Batman titles.
The game will have Gotham City divided into four explorable islands. Additionally, the Batmobile controls and many other mechanics will also resemble Arkham Knight to ensure players have the most fluid Batman experience despite the cartoony art style.
This insider was also responsible for leaking the existence of the new Lego Batman project by TT Games a month ago, so his words have been taken seriously by the Lego gaming community. However, it is still best to be cautiously optimistic until official confirmation.
The Lego Batman game is shaping up to be a proper open-world Dark Knight experience.
Warner Bros. is also supposedly working on multiple Batman games, including a Batman Beyond project by Rocksteady. But it will likely be years before we hear anything official about these works.

Ubisoft has announced a new story chapter featuring new missions and a brand-new location for Assassin’s Creed Mirage.
The free DLC update will take the game to 9th-century AlUla, a city in Saudi Arabia.
Reports suggest that a Saudi Arabia-based company, Savvy Games Group, funded this update.
Launched in 2023, Assassin’s Creed Mirage was initially a DLC planned for Valhalla but was later transformed into a standalone release.
Surprisingly, the former DLC-turned-standalone title is receiving a DLC itself later this year. Ubisoft has just announced a free update for the game featuring a new story with several missions set in a brand-new location, gameplay improvements, and more.
Why it matters: Assassin’s Creed Mirage was practically a love letter from Ubisoft to the series’ fans. As such, the game receiving more content with new missions and all for free is a huge win for fans.
Ubisoft Announcing A Surprise Update For Assassin’s Creed Mirage Later This Year || Source: X
The new story will be set in 9th-century AlUla, a city in Saudi Arabia. Miles away from the initial setting of Baghdad, AlUla will still have a similar feel.
It’s unknown what this new story will follow, but if tradition follows, Assassin’s Creed DLCs always feature a mythical storyline.
A previous report suggested Ubisoft entered a deal with the Saudi Arabia-based company, Savvy Games Group. The report further revealed that the investment company will fund Ubisoft for an Assassin’s Creed Mirage DLC set in Saudi Arabia.
Ubisoft Teases More Classic Assassin’s Creed Games
This deal would make the series more appealing to Middle Eastern audiences. Free DLC and updates will drive engagement even higher and expose the game to a brand-new Saudi Arabian audience. If all goes well, expect more Assassin’s Creed games set in the Middle Eastern region.

CI Games has revealed that Lords of the Fallen 2 will be an Epic Games exclusive.
It received heavy criticism as fans consider Steam to be much superior to Epic.
The CEO has defended the decision, saying Epic has been a great partner to them.
Lords of Fallen 2 was recently announced at Gamescom after the success of the original title. Fans were initially excited for the sequel, but the hype quickly dissipated when they discovered the game would be an Epic Games exclusive and wouldn’t be available on Steam.
Fans have voiced their anger as Steam is the preferred platform for most. However, the studio has defended Lords of the Fallen 2’s Epic Games exclusivity, saying that they’ve been a great partner to them.
Why it matters: Steam is generally considered a much better platform due to its robust support, freebies, constant sales, and being much lighter on the system, so fans prefer Steam as their go-to games launcher.
CI Games CEO defends Lords of the Fallen 2 exclusivity on Epic Games.
CI Games CEO Marek Tyminski took to X to talk about the matter after drawing heavy criticism from the fans. He said that the company made a significant investment in the game, which helped them maintain creative control.
He further said that their support has enabled them to push Unreal Engine 5 to new highs. They’ve been able to push the sequel much further, and it will be a very different experience from the original title released in 2023.
The first Lords of the Fallen game was a big hit among the fans.
While this makes sense, it’s worth noting that Epic’s smaller user base means it generates fewer sales than Steam. We saw this with Alan Wake 2, which, despite being a GOTY nominee, failed to be a commercial success initially.
Nonetheless, fans seem to understand CI Games’ decision but are still skeptical about using Epic Games. Lords of the Fallen 2 releases in 2026 and is now available to wishlist on all available platforms.

Black Ops 7 becomes the first CoD title not to top the pre-order charts on PSN.
Battlefield 6 currently has more pre-orders in comparison.
Steam reports a similar scenario with Black Ops 7 not even appearing in the top 25 best-sellers.
For the first time in almost a decade, Battlefield has finally caught up to the competition with Call of Duty. With Activision lagging behind in quality releases for the past few years, EA stepped in at the perfect moment and won over the FPS fans.
As such, this year’s Black Ops 7 is already destined to be a failure. Surprisingly, it is also the first-ever CoD game not to top the pre-order charts on PSN, which may force Activision to rethink their future decisions and path.
Why it matters: With Battlefield on its back foot for a few years, CoD became too comfortable due to the lack of competition. However, with healthy competition, it will ensure that both these series go all out in terms of quality, which is a win-win scenario for fans.
Currently, the pre-order chart is dominated by 2K26, followed by FC26, with Battlefield 6 securing the third spot. The fourth one is held by MGS3 Remake, and Black Ops 7 finally comes in at the 5th spot.
Looks like PlayStation fans have already chosen Battlefield as their go-to FPS for this fall, boycotting Call of Duty.
Over at Steam, a similar scenario was reported with Battlefield 6 dominating the charts while Black Ops 7 not even appearing in the top 25 list.
Black Ops 7’s Mega Jump Is Already Attracting Criticism
Battlefield 6’s beta and trailer received positive feedback, unlike Black Ops 7. The trailer for the new CoD game already has over 125k dislikes and is filled with hate comments, with the most liked comment stating, “This actually made me Pre-Order Battlefield 6.”
Even with all this pushback and negativity, Black Ops 7 devs aren’t fazed at all. In fact, they’re telling CoD fans to brush this off and that they remain committed to their plans.
