"The Game Is About Exploring Stuff"

Todd Howard from Bethesda has led several groundbreaking projects during his time in the games industry. With Starfield, the developer’s latest release, having reached millions of players, he is focused on Indiana Jones and The Elder Scrolls 6.

The developer is working on many projects, including a TV show for the Fallout IP. However, he has always been fond of Indiana Jones, overlooking the production of MachineGames’ Indiana Jones, which was announced in 2021.

While details about the game remain limited, a recent interview from Todd Howard hints at more information coming next year.

Why it matters: Todd Howard is very fond of the Indian Jones IP and has been working hard to deliver the definitive adaptation of the character’s adventures in the gaming medium.

Indiana Jones

Todd Howard’s future projects were discussed during a recent interview with Esquire. On the subject of Indiana Jones, the developer hinted at a unique experience, claiming that the IP can transition to games in a unique way.

As expected, he refused to share more details about the game but did not end the conversation without a small teaser. Todd Howard said:

“We’ll talk next year.”

This statement has already led to excitement and buzz among Xbox and Indiana Jones fans.

The gaming giant is extremely confident in its future lineup for 2024 and beyond. As such, the anticipated title from MachineGames and Bethesda may be released at some point next year.

MachineGames has been away from the spotlight for a while since the multiplayer Wolfenstein spin-off in 2019. Therefore, plenty of work on Indiana Jones may have already been completed.

In addition to his small tease for 2024, Todd Howard pointed to plenty of exploration in the game and said:

“You’re exploring stuff. It’s about him.”

As mentioned earlier, Todd Howard is a massive fan of the IP and has been looking to create a game based on the character for over a decade. The developer appears to be fully dedicated to the project, leading to plenty of buzz for Indiana Jones’ future adventures in the gaming industry.
