A Flawed But Pretty Good First Entry By Rebel Wolves!

Story Highlight
  • Blood of Dawnwalker is off to a good start with a respectable 83 score on Metacritic.
  • Most reviews are really positive, calling it a familiar yet unique and interesting RPG title.
  • There are slight flaws with the world and the combat, but they don’t hinder the experience.

When Rebel Wolves debuted the first trailer for Blood of the Dawnwalker, fans were hyped because it perfectly captured the DNA of The Witcher 3 and added its own unique touch. The game’s reviews are finally in; it seems pretty good.

Blood of the Dawnwalker has debuted with a score of 83 on Metacritic. This is a great score considering this is the studio’s debut game, and expectations were pretty high due to the reputation of the developers involved.

Why it matters: The game’s idea was pretty fun already, as it didn’t have a direct narrative direction; you have to save your captured family, and you have 30 in-game days and nights to do it, so the flexibility is huge

It is certainly flawed but a very decent first entry for the studio

Reviews commend the title for its interesting time-based mechanic, so you have to consider every move and plan your strategy accordingly. It has a familiar Witcher DNA, but masterfully crafts its own identity.

The mixed reviews do point towards slightly janky combat. The swordplay can feel a bit jarring. But all in all, while there are problems, this seems like a very decent debut in what is promised to be the first game in the IP.
