Developed by Rebel Wolves, a team consisting of former CDPR developers, The Blood of Dawnwalker seems like a very interesting prospect. There was already anticipation, but the newly released gameplay shows where the game’s DNA is taken from.
The studio has released a look at the game’s console version, and the gameplay and UI elements show striking similarities with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, one of the most critically and financially successful games of all time.
Why it matters: Some shortcomings with the title are clearly visible like the 30 FPS lock even on PS5 Pro, but all in all, the potential seems huge, and it might turn out to be a huge hit if it delivers on expectations.
Rebel Wolves debuted a look at the console footage from The Blood of Dawnwalker, and the thing that immediately strikes is how similar it looks to The Witcher 3. You can see it in the visuals, swordplay, inventory, and more.
Now, obviously the studio includes many of the developers who worked on the legendary RPG, so there would’ve been influences. However, there are some areas too where it shouldn’t really have done that.
For instance, the inventory is identical to the 2015 game, which was a point of criticism as the UI felt too cluttered and unintuitive. Similarly, the swordplay is very similar, and people do have their reservations about that too.
However, some similarities bring you that pure nostalgia of playing The Witcher 3. The environments look very inspired. Certain locations and even the plot feel very reminiscent of the developers’ legendary title.
