- The Blood of Dawnwalker won’t run at 60 FPS on any console, including the PS5 Pro.
- The game will target 40 FPS in the balanced mode, while peaking around 30 FPS in quality mode.
- The gameplay showcased already looks choppy compared to current-gen titles due to the low frame rate.
With only a few days left in its launch, fans are excited to finally get their hands on The Blood of Dawnwalker. Hailed by director Konrad Tomaszkiewicz as a title that will set new standards in the RPG genre, the Rebel Wolves game has been wishlisted over one million times.
The studio has so much confidence in The Blood of Dawnwalker that Tomaszkiewicz doesn’t even mind comparisons to his magnum opus, The Witcher 3. However, the new console gameplay trailer for the RPG has raised some concerns amongst fans.
Why it matters: Considering how much more expansive RPGs were able to target 60 FPS on the PS5 Pro, The Blood of Dawnwalker missing this mark will certainly dampen some anticipation around it.
The Blood of Dawnwalker’s official console gameplay reveal has left fans worried, as the title officially won’t run at 60 FPS even on the PS5 Pro. According to Rebel Wolves, the RPG will target 40 FPS on Dynamic 4K in balanced mode, while reaching 30 FPS in quality mode on PS5 and PS5 Pro.
The gameplay showcased in the video suffers from low FPS, looking choppy compared to other current-gen RPGs. Fans in the comment section also criticised the absence of a 60 FPS mode, saying that the Blood of Dawnwalker seems laggy due to the targeted 40 FPS.
Interestingly, the RPG will also target a similar frame rate on the Xbox Series X, but Rebel Wolves did not disclose how well the game will run on the weaker Series S.

Hype for The Blood of the Dawnwalker is still high thanks to a 50-70 hour storyline and the freedom to fight the final boss right after the prologue. However, the weak gameplay reveal and the lack of 60 FPS, even on PS5 Pro, have certainly dampened some of the expectations fans had from the RPG.
Do you think The Blood of the Dawnwalker will still turn out to be a success? Should Rebel Wolves add a 60 FPS mode later on? Tell us in the comments below or head to the Tech4Gamers forum for discussion.
