Led by the former director of The Witcher 3, Rebel Wolves is currently hard at work on The Blood of Dawnwalker. This upcoming RPG has shown plenty of potential so far, invoking excitement among fans of the genre.

 The Blood of Dawnwalker has also attracted comparisons to The Witcher, and with the upcoming release of The Witcher 4, competition between the two is practically unavoidable. Discussing the situation, the Rebel Wolves CEO recently stated that he doesn’t mind these comparisons.

Why it matters: Many consider CDPR’s work on The Witcher 3 a benchmark for open-world RPGs, leaving Rebel Wolves’ upcoming game with a high bar to live up to.

Speaking to Chris Dring from The Game Business, Rebel Wolves boss Konrad Tomaszkiewicz addressed the comparisons being made between The Blood of Dawnwalker and The Witcher.

Chris Dring noted that the footage shown so far appears reminiscent of The Witcher, and Konrad Tomaszkiewicz stated that he is quite comfortable with these comparisons, largely because the team believes it has something special on its hands.

He confirmed that the game has already moved forward into the focus testing phase after being initally tried by friends and family. All signs so far indicate at major success for Rebel Wolves’ upcoming RPG.

The Blood of Dawnwalker is set for launch later this year, but Rebel Wolves has yet to announce an exact release date. At the same time, CDPR is preparing for the eventual launch of The Witcher 4, although the game is not expected to launch before 2027.
