Bethesda's Space RPG Fails to Deliver Yet Again!

Story Highlight
  • Starfield finally launched on the PS5 last week after tons of speculations and rumors.
  • The game has failed to hit any major mark as it has only sold 140K units.
  • These numbers sound decent, but aren’t good enough for a high-budget flagship title.

Starfield was supposed to be the next big Xbox franchise, and it was brimming with potential. However, with the final product, the execution wasn’t really there, and even with multiple updates and DLCs, it still isn’t something too special.

Microsoft would be hoping that things would be different after the PS5 release, but even that has been commercially lackluster, as Starfield has just sold 140K copies so far, which is a rather low number for a game like this

Why it matters: Starfield was supposed to be the biggest blockbuster of the decade, reaching the same levels as other Bethesda franchises like Fallout and Elder Scrolls, but it has underwhelmed

Starfield has had lackluster sales on the PS5 so far

Alinea Analytics has revealed the sales data, revealing only 140K Starfield copies sold on the PS5 since its release last week. These numbers would’ve been actually quite decent if it weren’t for a game like this.

The overall reviews on the platform are decent; however, it doesn’t seem that too many people are interested in it. This has been the general case scenario for Starfield on all the platforms, including PC and Xbox.

The PS5 variant hasn’t managed to deliver either

Interestingly, even with these numbers, if we align the launches, Starfield is the fastest-selling Xbox port on PS5, where Ninja Gaiden 4 only managed 100K units in the first week, so the sales might get a bit better.
