Bethesda Reassures Fans Following Xbox Job Cuts!

Story Highlight
  • Xbox recently laid off over 3,000 developers, including those from Bethesda Game Studios.
  • Sources from the studio state that the layoffs have not impacted ongoing work on The Elder Scrolls 6.
  • The game could officially show up via an official reveal next year.

Xbox’s latest layoffs impacted 3,000 developers across the company, impacting first-party studios like id Software and Bethesda. Both teams are currently working on new titles for Doom and The Elder Scrolls, respectively, but recent layoffs sparked concerns among the gaming giant.

In fact, many reports stated that Bethesda had lost plenty of legacy talent in this round of layoffs, which would harm The Elder Scrolls 6. According to Bethesda, however, this is not the case.

Why it matters: Bethesda currently has its hands full with work on The Elder Scrolls and Fallout, so many fans were devastated after Xbox announced its layoffs.

In a recent video MrMattyPlays discussed several responses from Bethesda regarding the latest round of layoffs. On the subject of The Elder Scrolls 6, he was told that work on the game is moving forward at a consistent pace.

The team informed the YouTuber that the layoffs did not slow down work on the project and that it is still on track to launch in the coming years. Similarly, Bethesda says that the Fallout 76 roadmap remains unaffected by the layoffs.

Previously, many feared that Bethesda would be forced to crunch to keep The Elder Scrolls 6 on track. Although the studio did not discuss this subject with MrMattyPlays, he was quick to express concerns about the team potentially working overtime to ensure no progress is lost.

No, the roadmap is unaffected.
