The Dead Space franchise is one of the most iconic in the survival horror genre, with inventive gameplay, heartfelt storytelling, and a lasting legacy. However, the series has seen a huge downfall since, with the Dead Space remake failing to meet expected milestones. The series creator, Glen Schofield, has not given up on the IP, as he is interested in the fourth installment. 

Unfortunately, the same cannot be said about EA. The studio appears to be uninterested in Dead Space 4, outright rejecting a pitch proposed by Glen just earlier this year.

Why it matters: Dead Space creator showing interest in Dead Space 4 might suggest we might see a new entry eventually. However, EA was uninterested and refused the pitch.

In an interview with YouTuber Dan Allen Gaming, Glen Schofield clarified that he reached out to EA with a Dead Space 4 pitch earlier this year. However, the studio doesn’t see the entry working to meet their huge sales expectations. 

‘We tried actually … Dead Space 4… I mean We’re Talking This Year. […] They [EA] Just Said We’re Uninterested Right now […] They know their numbers and what they have to ship.’

Senior Director Chris Stone says the industry is currently ‘in a weird place’; people are hesitant to ‘take chances,’ so plans might change later. Regardless, EA canceled the Dead Space 2 remake following poor sales of the first one, so things look bleak for the franchise.

All in all, it is best to take the statements with a grain of salt, as EA might approach the Dead Space 4 idea in the future. Some fans argue that EA might have only denied Glen Schofield from making Dead Space 4 following Callisto Protocol’s poor performance.
