Most fans left the preview extremely impressed, but many appear to have been disappointed by one aspect. Over on Reddit and other social media, fans have begun criticizing Jason after the gameplay reveal.
Why it matters: Rockstar Games’ characters are typically held to high standards, especially after the team delivered a fan-favorite with Arthur Morgan.

Many GTA 6 fans are not fully sold on Jason yet, and his voice delivery has become the main point of contention. Fans have argued that Jason’s voice sounds too plain, with some saying he lacks the stronger personality usually expected from Rockstar’s lead characters.
Jason’s critics believe his voice comes across as dull or too generic when compared to Lucia, who has generally made a stronger impression in the footage shown so far. This has led to a wider argument about whether Jason feels underwritten.
He sounds like he’s a regular person reading off a paper. Its really noticeable when everyone around him is filled with life and he delivers a monotone response. He’s lifeless.
Others noted that Rockstar Games is simply presenting him as the quieter half of the duo, which could have something to do with his military background.
A segment of the fandom has also decided to reserve judgment on Jason for now. They argue that it’s unfair to judge the character based on a select few scenes and that there may be a narrative intent behind Jason’s dialogue and character.
Ultimately, it remains to be seen whether he will live up to past Rockstar characters, but fans certainly seem to have already taken a liking to Lucia.
