Story Highlight
  • Despite the massive backlash, Marvel’s Wolverine is a hit among PlayStation fans.
  • The game has debuted with a 4.84/5 score, with nearly 6K overall reviews.
  • It is also among the top 5 best-selling games in multiple regions.

Marvel’s Wolverine failed to impress the critics, marking the first Insomniac title in almost a decade with a Metacritic score of less than 80. The audience, too, has had their reservations about the character designs and gameplay

However, Marvel’s Wolverine released earlier today and has debuted with a 4.48/5 rating on the PlayStation Store based on almost 6K reviews. This reception from PlayStation fans has been very different from the critics’.

Why it matters: The character designs, weird set pieces, and non-consequential QTEs were massively called out by the critics’ reviews, which were also a heated topic of debate among the fans as well.

Marvel’s Wolverine seems to be a hit on the PS Store with a 4.84/5 rating

But based on the ratings, it doesn’t seem fans were too bothered by any of it, as they seem to love the title. Additionally, Marvel’s Wolverine is also among the top 5 sellers in most parts of the world

It was reported that the game needs to sell at least 6 million units in the first year to be successful, and at its current pace, most won’t be surprised if it even gets near that. However, its over $300 million budget is still ridiculous.

Despite the glowing PS Store reviews, there are notable issues with the game. It was also revealed that Sweet Baby Inc. was involved as consultants, and that quickly points to why the character designs look somewhat like Concord.
