Would Be Icing On The Cake For GTA 6 Marketing!

Story Highlight
  • The Miami-Dade administration is interested in marketing GTA 6 by transforming several real locations to mimic the game.
  • Rockstar Games and the County have discussed GTA 6 marketing opportunities through the airport, metro system, and more.
  • Currently, the County’s Sheriff is opposed to this deal, citing the violent nature of Grand Theft Auto as the reason.

GTA 6’s marketing has been quite eventful so far. Following the Netflix Extended Look, excitement for the game is in full swing, and new details are continuing to show up to this day.

As for the marketing plans, there’s more to come from GTA 6, including a supposed transformation of Miami-Dade into Vice City due to the game’s setting.

Why it matters: Rockstar Games and Take-Two have wanted to do something unique for GTA 6’s marketing, and collaborating with Miami-Dade would fulfill this goal in a grand manner.

GTA 5 Marketing Went All Out

As reported by the Miami Herald, Mayor Danielle Levine Cava’s administration has been in talks with Rockstar Games to discuss the transformation of Miami-Dade County into real-life Vice City to promote GTA 6.

The mayor’s office currently appears to be interested in this proposal, seeing it as a unique opportunity to promote both the game and the county. As part of this collaboration, parts of Miami International Airport would mimic Vice City Airport.

Moreover, the County intends to advertise GTA 6 through its trains and manhole covers across various locatons. Of course, this marketing deal would likely go beyond these initial proposals if accepted.

There is one problem, however, which is the fact that Sheriff Rosie Cordero-Stutz currently opposes this deal. The Sheriff argues that GTA promotes violence, murder, and robberies, so it should not be associated with Miami-Dade.

In the wake of these developments, it will be interesting to see whether the Miami administration goes through with this marketing deal. Rockstar Games and Grand Theft Auto are no strangers to advertising using real-life locations, so seeing GTA 6 delve into this aspect with Miami would be quite welcome.

Note that another GTA entry is not expected for many years to come, so utilizing the opportunity to make GTA 6’s launch into something special would be the icing on the cake of an already exciting gaming event.
