PlayStation Says Saros Is Steadily Gaining Popularity Among Players

PlayStation Continues To Back Housemarque's Saros!

Story Highlight
  • PlayStation launched Housemarque’s Saros as one of the PS5’s biggest first-party titles earlier this year.
  • The gaming giant has now highlighted Saros as a game steadily gaining attention among players.
  • The update comes after analysts suggested the title was performing worse than anticipated.

PlayStation’s most recent first-party release, Saros, seems to have quickly escaped players’ memory despite earning great reviews at launch. The game also showed plenty of potential on PSN’s best-sellers charts, but analysts suggested Housemarque’s latest release had failed to live up to the studio’s potential.

Amid rising doubts about the game’s success, PlayStation has now praised the title in its latest financial report.

Why it matters: Housemarque has become one of PlayStation’s more distinctive studios. Returnal helped cement the developer’s reputation for arcade-inspired combat, and Saros pushes the formula one step further.

Saros was praised in the latest PlayStation financial report for steadily gaining popularity and helping expand the PlayStation player base.

As reported on Twitter, Sony appreciated Saros for its critical acclaim. As per the gaming giant, the game is steadily expanding its user base, suggesting that players continue to take interest in the title several months after its launch.

This also means that the gaming giant has faith in Housemarque’s work. In fact, it used similarly encouraging words to describe Marathon in its latest financial release, hinting at a renewed focus on backing first-party teams.

Like Returnal, Housemarque’s latest release could gradually become more appreciated by general audiences. In turn, this could lead to further bursts in the title’s popularity as it goes on sale and offers discounts.

Elsewhere, PlayStation is ready to release its next big blockbuster first-party title with Marvel’s Wolverine, which arrives next month.

Have you tried Saros? If so, what did you think of the game? Feel free to discuss in the comments section.
