Halo Remake Faces Review Bombing From Metacritic Users!

Story Highlight
  • Halo Campaign Evolved is currently being review-bombed on Metacritic.
  • The game’s user score has fallen to 5.2, with nearly half of all reviews being negative so far.
  • Among the negative reviews, many have given the game scores as low as 0/10 and 2/10.

Halo Campaign Evolved marks the first big-budget remake of Xbox’s iconic franchise has seen to date. Unfortunately, the game is off to a slow start on Steam despite earning great reviews from the critics.

It seems player consensus on the title is also mixed so far, and many Metacritic users are now review bombing Halo Campaign Evolved.

Why it matters: Review bombing has become an unfortunate trend in the games industry, and the Halo remake appears to be the latest victim of this trend.

At the time of writing, Halo Campaign Evolved’s Metacritic user score has dropped to 5.2/10 following an intense wave of negative reviews. In total, 44% of all the reviews are negative so far.

These reviews have rated the game anywhere from 0/10 to 2/10. Needless to say, this is an incredibly low score that isn’t warranted unless a title is completely broken or unplayable.

Looking at some reviews, users cite problems such as being unable to log in to Microsoft accounts when attempting to play the Halo remake. Others have discussed the game’s supposed voice acting hiccups and lack of polish.

Feels very soulless from the voice acting to the new gameplay and missions. The game is also very buggy and not polished.

The latter has been a common talking point among the community, with some even showing skepticism regarding the use of AI in certain cutscenes and dialogue sequences within the game.

Anyhow, however you look at it, this is a clear case of review bombing on Metacritic, something many games have faced in the past. Previously, the likes of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom and Black Ops 7 suffered in a similar manner on the platform.
