Housemarque Has Blown It Out of The Park!

Story Highlight
  • Saros reviews have just come out, and it has garnered a very positive reception.
  • The first PlayStation exclusive of the year is off to a flyer with an 88 score on Metacritic.
  • The title is a massive upgrade in every way over its predecessor, Returnal.

After Saros was initially revealed, many dubbed it as just a Returnal, wrapped in a new skin. However, the game’s reviews are finally out, and they prove it’s much more than that. In fact, it takes its predecessor and dials everything up a notch.

Housemarque’s Saros reviews have just come out, and it has scored an excellent 88 on Metacritic, making it among the highest-rated games of the year. All the critics’ reviews are very positive and highly recommend the title.

Why it matters: Returnal was a fine experience, but it had a few shortcomings, like an inconsistent narrative, long and annoying runs, and more. However, most of that has now been fixed with the latest release.

Saros Metacritic
Saros scores a solid 88 on Metacritic

At its DNA, Saros is still pretty much an evolution of Returnal, but it does everything better. Here are some scores from notable media outlets:

  • VGC: 10/10
  • Eurogamer: 10/10
  • GameRant: 9/10
  • Push Square: 9/10
  • GamesRadar: 8/10
  • Metacritic: 88
  • Opencritic: 92

So, all in all, this is a very strong showing for PlayStation’s first exclusive title of the year. It excels in everything from a much-improved gameplay, an interesting protagonist, and kind of an engaging storyline.

The combat is comparable to Horsemarque’s previous title, but the runs are now a lot faster, and don’t feel artificially made more difficult. Additionally, it is much more accessible, and the nightmarish world looks awesome.

To further make it better, Rahul Kohli delivers a powerful performance as the lead, adding to the immersion. Overall, Hoursemarque has absolutely killed it with Saros, and while it has some issues, it isn’t anything that takes away from the game.
