- Naughty Dog is reportedly working on a new Uncharted title, led by the director of the Lost Legacy DLC.
- Nathan Drake will appear in the game, but he is expected to be a side character or a cameo.
- The game is set for a launch after Intergalactic but before The Last of Us 3, so it is still a few years away.
Naughty Dog previously said it has no plans to reveal anything this year, but it’s working on a lot of interesting titles. The team intends to fully reveal the controversial Intergalactic IP next year, but it also confirmed that several Last of Us titles are already in the works.
A new report now unveils that the studio is also working on a new mainline Uncharted game, which is being helmed by Shaun Escayag, the director of Uncharted 4: The Lost Legacy DLC. So, the project lead already has good experience with the narrative-action franchise.
Why it matters: Naughty Dog is reviving one of its most successful IPs with a mainline Uncharted, instead of opting for a remake or remaster. We could see Nathan’s daughter Cassie as the protagonist and go on treasure-hunting adventures instead of Nathan.

MP1st reports that Naughty Dog is already working on Uncharted 5, which will feature Nathan Drake in some capacity. However, it’s unclear whether he will be a protagonist, a side character, or just appear as a cameo in the story.
It is also a mainline entry, even though Naughty Dog once reportedly toyed with the idea of an Uncharted 1 remake in the past.
Naughty Dog aims to reportedly speed up development and launch Uncharted 5 after Intergalactic comes out, before the Last of Us games. However, these plans are always subject to change so early into development.
Regardless, we might not hear anything official about it anytime soon, as it is still years away.

Uncharted 5 rumors have existed for a long time now, with reputable insider Nate the Hate also corroborating the reported claims based on his own previous reports.
Multiple other insiders have previously claimed a new game in the IP is indeed coming, with the Uncharted director also teasing a franchise revival earlier this year.
